It’s season three of «As the Consumer Turns» and lately, I’ve been a fan. Or so my experience has been over the years with this local staple. When I first came to this town(a WHILE ago), Baillos was the place to buy electronics, and I’ll be darned if it hasn’t survived the influx of chain competitors; in balance, it’s rather shocking that Circuit City and Ultimate Electronics are deceased. Well, they’ve had a few bumps in the road. From what I understand the business changed hands for a while and things started falling apart, and so the original owners took over again, for season three of this melodrama. With the exchange the business is again booming. So Baillos must be doing something right, right? They are. Customer service is prompt, that’s my first impression. I’ve made two major purchases here over the past year and I was quickly assisted when I entered. My price comparisons showed a competitive advantage here, and that probably has to do with their policy against having the traditional, generic«Sale». They operate on the philosophy that Sales are simply a gimmick to draw customers into a store; if a business were honest, they’d simply keep prices low while turning a reasonable profit. That’s what Baillos claims, and I believe it when I look at the price tags. The place sells appliances, electronics and a wide selection of toys for you to pair with your music players and car stereos. The appliance selection is pretty impressive, and most models are on the floor. They offer payment plans and shipping options, too. Probably most importantly, Baillos backs the Lobos! That, my friends, means Local. And that’s where I spend my melodramatic dollars.
