It’s true you walk into this place and it smells just like it should smell– BBQ heaven. I asked with the would recommend it and I was told that the brisket sandwich is pretty good. I went ahead and requested that and after I chose that they asked what side I wanted, I went with the coleslaw as they told me they made it with green apples and honey. It’s a unique combination and it actually works pretty well. I did try the brisket sandwich and I thought it was a little dry, I did add quite a bit of sauce which I should mention is a very good sauce. I’d recommend this place, even though it’s a little pricey it’s pretty damn good food. The waitstaff is very nice and attentive. 5 stars

So yummy! Everything was delicious! Love the sauce, lean meat, delicious pie! Mmm have yet to have a bad experience here. I like how you can add your own sauce to your meats. I have wanted to order a hotdog but I just can’t come here and not have bbq! The only place I’ll eat ribs in town!

From the moment you walk in the smell is amazing. I’m in town for a wedding and saw the reviews on this place and thought I’d give it a try. It was truly amazing.

Best bbq in town… and maybe the entire sw! All sides are fresh, and home made! Mears are moist and flavorful. Come early to avoid the rush. Pulled pork, and brisket can’t be beat. And the home mash taters.

**UPDATE** This would have been a five star review, but the price of sides is just too steep. Well, make that the prices in general. It has the BESTBARBECUE I’ve had in the state(of course, ABQ really does not have great Q… except here.) If they served the sides in larger containers, five stars it would be… and we have paid well in excess of $ 500 for dinner for two, so it’s the price point for the restaurant. The overhead can’t be that bad… come on guys. Still… get the Tri-tip and ribs. You will practically weep with the pleasure coming from your mouth. **UPDATE** The nicest lady, Vanessa, wrote me a detailed letter explaining the costs, both in $$ and time that goes into making this food. Thanks Vanessa! Bar none, this is some of the best barbecue I’ve ever had and I’ve eaten it in every state that makes it. Run to the Cube! Just don’t eat all my ribs!

Walked in to grab some Tres Leches cake. We heard it was the best in town. I honestly didn’t know what else they served. So we headed on in. First the smoking meat smell is everywhere. I came out smelling like it, and for not being that big of a meat eater it was a bit overwhelming. We looked at the menu and my husband ordered a turkey leg and brisket(no sides because why the hell not), I ordered the Kale salad… because as I said previously I’m not a big meat eater. The kale salad was really one of the best I have had. Lemon dressing, with caramelized onions, carrots, chickpeas, and avocado. I loved it. I had a side of Mac and Cheese that wasn’t worth the $ 5 I paid. There were 5 Cheeses in that thing, but it was half a bowl. ehhh. The turkey leg and brisket were reported as filling and well cooked. The sauce wasn’t great and didn’t necessarily compliment the meat. We then had some Tres Leches! That was wonderful. Really great. The cake was denser than I’m used to however the whip cream on it was what the cake needed to lighten it up. The waitresses we’re lovely and attentive. They checked on us frequently and conversed kindly. They were amazing. The cost was pretty high, however he did order two main dishes. We’re definitely going to head there again.

We stopped here after looking up a place on DDD. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The burger was good, but a burger with cheese should not cost 19.00. The green chili cheese fries were good but once again fairly expensive. The teas were okay. The brisket sandwich was average — nothing special and the least expensive thing. All the staff were attentive and polite and eager to take care of us. Not sure I will be back or recommend this as a place to stop.

The best BBQ in Albuquerque!!! Sweet sauce, wonderfully cooked meats, excellent sides, the Cube will not disappoint for any true carnivore.

Great BBQ menu! On my first visit I planned to try the pork ribs but when I arrived and checked out the menu the Parisian beef hotdog with grilled onions, bleu cheese, and spring mix called my name! It was delicious! Also, the fresh baked extra-large chocolate chip cookie was oh soooo good! I wish I would have tried the 5 cheese Mac but I’ll try it next time. The atmosphere is super casual. Trivia night is every Thursday at 8PM. Trivia was just starting as I was leaving… It seemed like a really fun crowd.

A barbecue place would have to really be an abomination to get a bad review from me. The cube was far from it. I tried almost every meat on the menu. They were all juicy and delicious. The pulled pork sandwich was nothing short of greatness. It came prepared on an especially tasty bun with a side of coleslaw. I put the coleslaw on the sandwich and inhaled the entire thing in about a minute. I was also really impressed with the brisket. It did not have the ‘crust’ that i would expect on an expertly smoked brisket, but it made up for that with its exceptional juiciness and tenderness. Although it’s not really my thing, usually, the Mac n cheese is a shining star here. It’s a far cry from the often flavorless, mushy pasta with cheap cheese sauce I’ve experienced in the past. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff was friendly, helpful and attentive. The prices were pretty much on the nose with all barbecue restaurants, and thus: fair. All in all, you can’t go wrong at The Cube. Unless you are a vegan, then you will have to go somewhere else to order your plate of sadness. Next time you feel the calling of a carnivore, stop by the cube and leave with a smile on your face.

We came here the other night with a few friends for dinner. I saw The Cube on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy and added it to my bookmarks on Unilocal. Our friends come here often and suggested we check it out. I am glad we did! This is a casual place that has a very open environment and is a great place to bring kids without worrying about being disruptive. You order at the counter and are given a number. The food is the. Brought to your table. I was really excited to order the grilled cheese because they advertised 6+ cheeses and I thought to myself, ‘This is going to be one hell of a grilled cheese for $ 6.99.’ Well, not quite. I was told that I only got to choose two cheeses, so I opted for American and Swiss. I was disappointed by the false advertising but enjoyed the grilled cheese and hand cut fries. My hubby ordered a half rack of ribs with hand cut fries, candied yams and Texas toast. The candied yams were insanely delicious. My hubby let me finish them ;) All in all, this is a great BBQ joint for ABQ. Good prices and great atmosphere.

Great bbq spot. A friend recommended it because she had seen it on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. We had the wet chicken and brisket with green beans and mac n cheese. Awesome time and reasonable prices.

I was in the area for the Albuquerque International Hot Air Ballon Fiesta and decided if Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives could make a pilgrimage to The Cube, I would too. First, the décor and ambience: Hello! One does not seek out a barbecue place for the décor. You come to The Cube for the food. The staff cares about their customers. They are very friendly and will check-up on you several times to see how you are doing. Next, the food: I had the 505 hot dog consisting of a bacon-wrapped hot dog deep-fried and then piled high with green chile and… I cannot describe the rest because the taste of the hot dog, bacon, green chiles and cheddar cheese induced visions of angels and heaven. You will have to trust me that the mashed sweet potatoes and collard greens are AWESOME. I have never had mashed sweet potatoes that were so tasty! I hope to return for the ribs. Needless to say, you step into The Cube and smell barbeque in the air. They have a variety of goodies for dessert, if you have room. I want to thank Guy Fieri for introducing me to The Cube, to the owner/chef who dreamed up the 505 dog, to the hard-working cashier, cooks, dishwashers and bussers who make this place what it is: An American barbeque original.

The Cube! What a treat. I work in the area and think I’ll stop in more frequently. I know it’s all about the BBQ here. The BBQ is good! Try it you’ll like it. BUT… bum bum bummmmmmmmm get the dogs. Seriously, what this place does to a hot dog is amazing. I am not a hot dog girl, I’m straight burgers… but this is enough to change my mind! All the dogs are wrapped in bacon and deep fried! WHAT? YESSSSS!!! So bacon wrapped deep fried dogs topped with southwest toppings. The 505 Dog is my favorite followed by the Guadalajara Dog. You can’t go wrong no matter which one you choose(because it’s wrapped in bacon and deep fried!)

Courtesy. It goes a long way. No sense of urgency to let me know my 45 minute/hr quoted delivery time would actually become more like 90+ mins. Instead of an apology I get an explanation that I should’ve gotten from call #2, not on my 3rd call. Maybe I should’ve read the reviews instead of ordering from this place. Excuses are best received by those who give them. I don’t care what the delay is. Courtesy to call me would help. Why bother asking for a phone number if you’re not going to use it? Ugh! That’s my review! Hope you’re happy lady who fed me a load of crap about you having a small location, when you’re not busy. I run multi-million dollar restaurants in NYC and LA. That may fly with your college clientele but not me!

I think this place is pretty decent. We got ribs and a kale salad. Both were just fine. Honestly wasn’t as impressed as I thought it would be. Half stack of ribs is going to cost you 18.99 which I think is a little pricey for something not as delicious. The kale salad was 8.99 which I would typically expect and it was just fine. The space was large, lots of tables and seating but it made the atmosphere somewhat awkward. It felt like a cafeteria and you have to keep your voice low otherwise everyone will hear you. The staff was awesome though, refilled our drinks multiple times when they clearly didn’t have to. I would say check this place out but don’t expect too much. It seems like a hit or miss place.

I have to deduct a star up front for the terrible ventilation. You walk in and all you smell is smoke. And when you leave, all you smell like is… smoke. It’s a little annoying, and a turn off for what would otherwise be a very appealing lunch place. If, however, you can get past that, and you’re an inveterate carnivore like I am, you’ll love this place. Even the lean meats are juicy and flavorful. A five meat platter can happily feed two, if not three. Definitely shout out to the brisket and the dry chicken, I could eat those all day, but you can’t go wrong with any meat on the menu. And the sides absolutely rock — green beans are cooked perfectly, not to death, and greens are cooked to death the way they should be. The sweet potatoes are just sweet enough. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the boyfriend’s beloved mac n’ cheese, which is so popular that they only let you order a single order of that side. They’re not serving beer and wine at the moment(not sure what’s up with that), so just be aware. But service is fast and friendly, and waitresses circle often to make sure that your non-alcoholic drinks are topped up. From the outside, this place looks a lot sketchier than it actually is on the inside. Trust the reviews, not your eyes.

The Cube: Dishonest About Ingredients, among other problems. Let’s look under the hood of this«BBQ» restaurant that claims to «buy local» and use«organic» veggies etc. Not long after eating here, we started feeling queasy, the way we do after eating processed fast food or other corporate agribusiness products. Sure enough, a quick check out back revealed their sources in a giant pile of empty cardboard boxes, there for all to see. Sysco, Hunt’s, National Beef, Tyson, Smithfield(owned by a Chinese conglomerate btw, wow so «local»), etc: basically most of the major corporate meat processors(factory farmed meat) and agri-superproducers. By itself, this wouldn’t really be a big deal– that’s what most low-grade restaurants use for ingredients, so whatever. HOWEVER, there’s a big chalkboard advertising their«values» inside that include tenets they always adhere to, like they«use organic veggies and fruits,» «Buy LOCAL,» «Cook SEASONALLY,» and my favorite«Use only highest quality meats.» Trust me, my stomach knows when it eats bad quality, factory-farmed meat. National Beef Company? If you’re gonna blatantly lie about the quality of ingredients you use, at least hide the evidence. I posted a photo, it was taken 5÷17÷15. Not a single organic food carton or local provider in the massive pile of boxes by the dumpster in back. More: Most of the positive reviews are by people who saw this place on a TV show called«Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,» hosted by a man-sized troll toy named Guy Fieri. The fact that he likes this place tells you everything. If you wanna take your dining advice from a man who drives around the country eating trash professionally, with the palate of a Neanderthal, be my guest. Do you like eating in a garishly-colored, loud elementary school cafeteria? You’ll love the atmosphere here. Every table has napkins shoved under one or two legs and they still rock. Staff is basically a bunch of clueless rude teenage girls who clearly have little understanding of customer service or the art of BBQ. The food is so laughable it’s sad. People rating this hormone and antibiotic-saturated factory farmed meat the«best BBQ I’ve ever had!» probably have never been out of Albuquerque and eaten real BBQ prepared with quality meats and attention to the art of the smoke. Our brisket was a tasteless mush. No bark, no flavor. Served slightly less than room temp. The sausage was offensive — nothing remarkable at all. No BBQ smoke flavor– tasted like a kielbasa I can get at smiths and cook myself. The sauces, as others have pointed out, are so boring you might as well use ketchup. Veggie dishes, undoubtably GMO and most likely not organic, were bland, sad, a vapid void of any real flavor. Let’s address the menu. There’s hamburgers, hot dogs, a BLT, a frickin Chef’s salad too? Among a ton of other options. If you’re gonna do BBQ well, you’re just gonna do BBQ– real pit masters would never waste their time with all this other crap. Top-level BBQ takes serious investment in time, attention, and ingredients. What, in your spare time you also create salads? Either do BBQ well and only do that, or get out. I’m gonna go to a BBQ joint and order a BLT? What the hell are you doing? What a joke. But above all, this restaurant makes false claims, uses garbage quality ingredients and charges premium prices. Done right, like a dozen places I can name off the top of my head in Texas, BBQ commands the higher prices due to high-quality meat and attention to detail and the long smoking process. The Cube basically uses the same low– quality ingredients as McDonalds, Weck’s, Denny’s, etc., and lies about it. You’ve been warned. I have way too much respect for BBQ to ever set foot in this place again.

I was looking for a place to eat dinner in Albuquerque and decided to check out this place since it had decent Unilocal reviews and had been on Triple D(aka Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives). This place definitely falls into the category of a dive. When I pulled into the parking lot, I wasn’t quite sure if they were open because the parking lot was dark and the inside of the restaurant looked dark as well. I guess that’s the façade they are going for because they were indeed open and it’s just dark inside. The dining area is a decent size, with lots of casual table and chairs, and a concrete floor. It definitely feels very divey inside. The menu is above the register, which makes it kind of hard to read, but they had paper menus that I used instead. I ordered the half rack of ribs dinner, which costs $ 18.49 and comes with 2 sides, cornbread or Texas toast, and a drink. I went with mac & cheese and French fries, cornbread and lemonade. I also got talked into ordering their chocolate cookie/brownie. My total came to almost $ 26, which I was a bit surprised by. Apparently there is a surcharge of $ 1 for lemonade and 25cents for cornbread… I guess I need to start reading the fine print. They do advertise that everything is homemade, so maybe that’s why things were so pricey. I sat at a table to wait for my carryout order and it probably took about 10 minutes to come out. The ribs were really good and meaty. They had a nice smoked flavor to them and the BBQ sauce was good. The mac & cheese was just ok to me. It was a bit too cheesy, meaning the cheese to macaroni ratio seemed a bit off. The fries were good, but probably not something to order as carryout since they were soggy when I got ready to eat them. The brownie/cookie was good, but I wish it was softer and chewier and has more of the consistency of a brownie. That’s probably something that tastes better eaten there since they will warm it up. I think the food was pretty good, despite the high-ticket price and would come back to try some of their other items when I’m back in Albuquerque.
