Tried this spot for lunch today. Being that o don’t eat meat I was glad they had some fish & chips and other options that I could try! I ordered the lobster roll, mac & cheese and a order of tatter totts. The mac and cheese was kind of bland to me… reminded me of panera’s mac and cheese but panera’s is more flavorful… My tatters were perfect! Nice and hot! Right out of the fryer…& they were served with this spicy mayo… not too impressed by the sauce with my totts… I prefer ketchup! & for my lobster roll… yummmmmmers!!! Soooo delicious & the best part of it was the roll!!! It just melted in my mouth! I will definitely be coming back and trying out what else they have to offer!

These dogs were great! Don’t walk away when you see the narrow entry, there is seating inside and the dogs are with it.

Try it out, one dog is not enough, and mix it up. They had a banh mi dog on the menu. No way I was going to pass up that kind of opportunity and am I glad I didn’t. This place would define make me fat. I just had the banh mi dog which was nice and spicy, but next visit I really want to try the Chicago dog. The dogs are in a classic toasted buttered bun type roll. One that would typically wrap a good lobstah roll. If I’m nearby again, I’ll definitely stop back here.

The hot dogs are good but keep an eye out for their specials… there half smokes are usually the same price as the specialty hot dogs but much more filling with better flavor and quality meat. I like the french fries here. I’ve had the chili fries and the chili cheese hot dog(the three piece suit) and didn’t care much for the bland chili. It doesn’t have much flavor to it. Overall, I like this place. A bit pricey for a basic hot dog but I like the variety of fixings and the bread they use.

We had a few different kinds so we could try a variety. The three piece suite, NY Ruben and the Chicago. Service was prompt and the food was fast and hot. Fries were awesome. We loved all the photos of the dogs on the wall. We will definitely go back. We did try it on an «off time» later then the normal lunch rush. If your a hot dog fan, definitely check it out.

The half smoke is amazing. The chili, onions, and mustard are the perfect accompaniments to the seared sausage on the toasted bun. Mouth watering yet?

Haute dog! Word play works well when a place actually lives up to or exceeds its name. Haute Dog does that with their focus on quality hot dogs that come with a host of interesting twists. Located in Old Town Alexandria, street parking is pretty much your only option, but fortunately there’s a decent amount of spots around, at least during the off-peak hours. Best bet is to call an order ahead during the weekday lunch rush. The space is pretty small and seated is limited. The ordering setup is pretty standard: approach counter, look over menu, order and pay. For those that are indecisive(me), you can grab menus and a seat and then return to the counter to order when you’re ready. When an order is ready, the staff will call your name. Speaking of the staff, they may have a decent knowledge of the menu, but I’d say they’re a little rough around the edges. Then again, many of them seem pretty young, which may explain their limited proficiency in customer service etiquette. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something for management/ownership to be mindful of. I tried several items including the OBX Dog, Buffalo Dog, Lamb Sliders, Mac ‘n Cheese, Haute Fries and Salted Caramel Shake. The OBX Dog comes with chili, coleslaw and yellow mustard. It’s an ok dog. The chili and the coleslaw both fell a little flat in terms of flavor. It was almost as if they cancelled each other out. The hot dog itself had a little less snap than I like. Overall, it was an ok hot dog. The Buffalo Dog has blue cheese, hot sauce and celery. The blue cheese really dominated my palate with its assertive tang and saltiness. Again, nothing spectacular, but just ok. The Lamb Sliders are two slider sandwiches that are topped with mint sauce, tomato, and chopped onion. The lamb was surprisingly tender, moist and well seasoned. The toppings paired well to add some nice texture. Good choice! The Mac ‘n Cheese comes in a slightly small portion. Promoted as being fresh and created through a homemade recipe, it was decent. Seasoning was a bit low and overall the dish was a little one note. The star of the show was the Haute fries. They were basically crispy shoestring fries with ketchup, mustard and Cajun seasoning. Very good stuff. The perfect crispness of the fries coupled with the flavorful seasoning created perfect harmony in each bite. In one word, it was addicting. My dining companion stills asks about those fries. High praise for a food dish to be memorable, let alone french fries. The Salted Caramel Shake is definitely a smart way to end a meal on a warm and humid day. The portion size was adequate, which is something that factors heavily for me. The issue is the shake tasted mostly like vanilla and caramel. The salt flavor was faintly present. Not surprising since I’ve found that many places struggle making a great salted caramel shake. Considering the price though, dessert didn’t quite end the way I hoped. Speaking of price, I’d say things are a tad overpriced. I recall on one of my visits getting of a bill of roughly $ 50. Considering it was more of a lunch meal and we’re talking about hot dogs that didn’t even wow, that’s steep. I’m pretty sure location being in the pricey Old Town section of Alexandria plays into the prices. Overall, it was a good experience, but not sure I’d return more than occasionally, if at all. I’d choose the hot dogs from DC-3 and Fuddruckers over this spot and the shakes from several places as well. Those fries though… haute/hot dog! They’re a saving grace and perhaps one that may bring me back… one day.

The cashier was super helpful! She knew the menu well and let us taste a few toppings before we made our final decision. The food was delicious, restaurant and bathrooms were very clean BUT the hotdogs themselves are actually a bit small. In fact, nearly 50%of the hotdog was bun when you’re business is all about the hotdog-you need to at least be bigger than the store bought Oscar Meyer wiener.

Came here for the first time on Friday a afternoon. There was a moderate line but was expecting a lot longer for peak lunch time. Pleasantly surprised. Line went quickly. SELECTION: Decent selection of dogs and sausages in classic combinations like chicago and ball park along with more contemporary choices like banh mi. Ordered a 3 piece suit, OBX, and a half smoke with small fries and curry ketchup. All were good. Curry ketchup was awesome! Will definitely get that again. Hubby thought he had better half smokes elsewhere though. They also offer a nice offering of sides like mac and cheese, onion rings, loaded fries, and ice-cream and shakes. PRICE: Average dog is $ 4.50. Curry ketchup was extra at $ 0.75. Lunch for 2 not including beverage was a little over $ 20. Wish I would’ve known that you get a 10% discount for checking in for the first time. But that just means that I have to come back again.

Yum. I’m from the west coast, so every time I travel east, I try to find lobster rolls. I ordered the lobster roll, the Chicago dog and fried pickles(don’t judge me, this is breakfast and lunch before I fly back.) Delish! I devoured both«dogs» within minutes. The buns are amazing, and toppings great. At $ 37 with tip, maybe a little spendy for the quantity of food, but on par with the quality(I also had fries and an iced tea). The pickles are done to perfection. I will be back. Now if I can find a way to bring these back to Portland with me…

So good! The buns they use for their hot dogs are perfect, soft with a little crunch and warm! The hot dogs themselves are tasty and you really can’t go wrong with any of the specialty dogs and toppings they offer. I love their French fries they are freshly fried for you. Great place to grab a quick lunch or dinner!

Been here several times. I can not find anything negative to say about this place except for parking. The staff were very friendly everytime, the place was kept clean and the food… all I can say is AMAZING. the bombshell dog(my favorite) paired with tater tots and ready for this… insanely delicious curry ketchup!!! You have to try this hidden gem. You will not be dissapointed.

I went here on a spur-of-a-moment bike ride from DC to Old Town. For the amount of money I spend on hot dogs, I would have thought it would match Bold Bites from Bethesda. I was mistaken. The hot dogs are okay at a lower price point, but I wouldn’t necessarily say these are gourmet dogs.

The food was great! Missing one star because of some small mistakes in service. First, we were missing the blue cheese on one of our dogs. They were quick to fix the mistake when we showed our receipt. After we finished eating, we ordered a meal and fries TOGO. They came out in baskets. After we had them switch the meal into to-go boxes, we were almost out the door when we realized we had not received the drink for the meal. I would eat here again, but I would double check that everything is correct before leaving with a carryout order!

There are a lot of fun hot dog options to choose from here. I ordered the N.Y. Reuben(all-beef hot dog in a New England style bun with grilled sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and brown mustard). Every piece of this little concoction of flavors was really good together. I also got a side of tator tots that were yummy, but honestly nothing special from normal tots. I was a fan of the atmosphere in this little place with the brick walls and a very chill vibe. Our food came out quickly, the staff was really nice, and everything was really clean. My only complaint was the price. It seemed a little pricy for what my boyfriend and I actually got. We ended up with a total of three specialty hot dogs and one side of tots(we both ordered a cup of water) and it came to $ 20! This is a fun place to try out, that’s for sure… just come prepared to fork out a little more cash than you might expect when it comes to hot dogs.

My oh my! I’ve never seen so many toppings options for a hot dog. This place has all kinds of combinations, just ask. I ordered a Chicago Style dog and it did not disappoint. I also got a side of tater tots(yum) and mac n cheese(3.5 stars), and my fatty self was happy :) if it happens you’re not into hot dogs, they offer sliders and other food options as well. I really liked the vibe of the place. Like any other place in Old Town, it’s pretty small but it felt cozy and fun. As for those who complain about having to park a block away, think of it as working out all that goodness you’re about to indulge in :)

On a venture to try something new, I scrolled through my bookmarks and decided to check out Haute Dogs in Alexandria. I’m not really big on hot dogs but the pictures had me sold; I had to try it out for myself. It is located in Old Town Alexandria so parking is next to none so that was a bit of a struggle, but I made out okay. There is a parking garage nearby, but who wants to pay parking to go and grab a hot dog? Not this chick! Walking in, it had a great little cozy vibe. Great music playing in the background. Smiling faces. So far so good! Now the menu, what a selection! They have all kinds of dawggggs! And if you aren’t in the mood for that, they also have sliders & other items for you to try out. I decided to try out the Tex Mex dawg. It was a beef hot dog with melted cheese and chili. Sounds simple, right? Welp, it didn’t taste simple! This was one of the best hot dogs I have ever had in my LIFE! It tasted gourmet. The bun was buttery and toasted to perfection. The cheese was melted just right. The sausage tasted like it had just been made; it was bursting with flavor. And the chili, man oh man. That chili was orgasmic. After my first bite, I was in love with Haute Dogs. In addition to the dog, I got a side of mac n cheese. I was being a fat butt, yes I know, ha, ha. The mac n cheese was great! It was super creamy. Haute Dogs is a great little place to hang out with your friends, grab a bite, and catch up! They are doing it right over there. Now I know, all the hype was justified. Favs: The Tex Mex dawg was great!!! I can’t wait to go back and try a new dog with a side of fried pickles: D Would Change: I wish they had more free parking options where they are located :-/

Who doesn’t love hot dogs?!(Unless you are vegan, a vegetarian or watching your weight). This place is dedicated to the hot dog, how cool is that? You don’t see that too often. I could see some people disliking this place if they are weight conscious for it is very buttery. But I don’t mind the butter. In fact, I embrace it! It’s so delicious! When you walk in, you are overwhelmed with pictures of cute puppy dogs. This is a great play in word on the restaurant’s end. It’s quirky and fun. They offer a wide range of hot dog flavors. So go crazy! Order one of each flavor over a course of your time with his restaurant. The flavors will never get old. They even update their topping options. They also offer a lobster roll. Honestly my favorite part was their hot dog bun. The bun is crispy from the grill. It’s also buttery from the massive amounts of butter they soak into the crispy bun. The bread itself is soft and bouncy. It’s definitely not your typical hot dog bun. It’s an upgraded version of what you eat on the streets of New York or on the streets of Washington, D.C.

I would like to start my review by saying I throughly enjoyed my food at Haute Dog. There aren’t many unique hot dog places around so this place stands out to me. My girlfriend and I decided to stop by on Sunday at 5. Upon walking in you can smell all the hot dog goodness. You place your order in the front and once the food is ready you will be called to grab your food. At 5:00 there was ample amount of seating available. I ordered the two dog combo, specifically the three piece suit and the Chicago dog. The girlfriend went with the Chicago dog and we shared a side of tatter tots. Honestly I would recommend everyone get the two dog combo, you get two dogs and a drink for $ 9.50. That’s a great deal and simply one dog is not enough to fill you up, heck two isn’t enough either. The three piece suit dog was topped with chili– it was delicious and I have to say this was my favorite one out of the two. The Chicago was also very good, I have not had an official one from Chicago but I can say this one was better than one I tried from Windy City Red hots. The buns was buttered, and to me it almost tasted like garlic bread. The tatter tots were average but the dipping sauce they provide on the side is tasty. There is definitely Sriracha mixed in which I am a fan! To top off the excellent food the speed that it comes out of the kitchen is also very speedy. I think we waited five minutes for the food. There were many interesting hot dog choices so you can bet I will be back to try out more. I can’t wait to try out their other dogs next time. Maybe. I will go this upcoming weekend. If you are in the area definitely stop by and enjoy a delicious hot dog.

I have had Haute Dog bookmarked forevvvvvvver, and when Will C. suggested that we give it a go last night, I was pretty excited. We stopped in after a movie, so we were both starving. I decided to go with the Chicago Style dog with a side of tots and Will C. got the two-dog combo(a great deal if you ask me — 2 signature dogs + a drink for less than $ 10!). They have menus displayed at the register, so I suggest you take a few moments to skim through the rather extensive selection. Food comes out super fast; I feel like we waited a little less than five minutes. I was pretty impressed by my Chicago Style dog. The hot dog had a nice snap to it, and the toppings were FRESH. I especially loved the banana peppers for their extra crunchiness and zing. The New England Style(buttered + toasted) roll would have been a hit for me, but I found the bread to be slightly on the stale side. No biggie though because the rest of the hot dog was darn delicious. The tots were your average tots — nothing special. They came with a sriracha mayo dipping sauce, which I found to be more sriracha-y than mayo-y(I like!). Next time, I think I’ll skip the sides and go for their two-dog combo as I still felt a little hungry after the one hotdog and the tots. Alll in all, Will C. and I had a very satsifying dinner for roughly ~$ 20. Plus, hotdogs are like the ultimate summer food. It was a great way to spend our Sunday evening :) Will be back for more!
