When I’m craving pancake. I take the drive to the nearest one. I have been a fan of original pancake house and le peep pancakes. Until a friend suggested trying them here. They will make you happy guaranteed. Their other foods are ok too but I would drive here for it. Oh. Don’t come during the weekend at rush time if you’re hungry. The waits are long.

We had the unfortunate decision to eat at this location and all we wanted was a simple breakfast for dinner. One hour later we got our pancakes and eggs The sausage patties were not eat able. I keep swearing off this place but I must like to be punished.

Let me explain the concept of «cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face». A gift card from my aunt led me to decide to take my daughter after summer school today for lunch. After being seated, our servers took our order and brought our drinks promptly. I had water with lemon and my daughter had milk that was served and a half pint box with a cup, lid, and straw to the side. I told my daughter to drink it slowly because I knew she was thirsty and I also knew that places that serve milk in separate containers usually charge for a refill even though there was nothing stating this in the menu. Shortly after we had started eating our food a few minutes later, my daughter did run out of milk. It was at this time that our waiter also presented us with the bill,(which I have never liked at this restaurant because it makes me feel like they are saying, «hurry up and eat because I want to turn this table!») He quickly brought out the second half pint of milk and a new bill with a charge of $ 2.39 on it for the additional 8 ounces … ONECUP of white milk! In reference to my explanation of the adage at the start of this review, based on the delicious looking picture on their dessert menu table topper, I had planned to order dessert for myself as well but after the initial shock and subsequent irritation of this money grab-refill charge, my appetite for dessert disappeared. I understand having to pay for an additional container of milk at many restaurants but nowhere have I ever had to pay the same amount for a half pint of milk as for a gallon of milk! Charge me $.99, charge me $ 1.50. But $ 2.39?! And correct me if I’m wrong, Cracker Barrel employees or regular customers, but aren’t refills for soft drinks free for kids? So if my daughter wanted to drink all of the carbonated sugar water she could suck down, that would be free, but because she prefers to drink something that is actually healthy for her, we get financially penalized for it? What kind of message does this send to families? Like I’ve said, I don’t mind getting charged for a milk refill but a reasonable one. Had the charge been reasonable, I would not have thought twice about ordering dessert for myself, therefore making the bill higher, the tip higher, and this review solely about the quality of the food and not the experience of getting outrageously charged for 8 ounces of milk. The food was good overall but the dressing was a little bit heavy on the thyme. Business 101 lesson: restaurants who treat kids right have parents as repeat customers who buy appetizers, desserts, toys and candy in the general store, etc. Restaurants that treat milk like an adult beverage have parents as once-in-a-while customers who order water for everyone at the table and then demand bowls of lemons so they can make lemonade with the sweeteners on the table for free.

Nice folks. Good food. We had a good mean here. We also left our card. Being on a road trip we were far away by the time we knew we were long gone. We called the store and they got our info and Mark the manager send the card via ups to a location down the road. Well done.

Tasty food with good serving sizes, and if you aren’t their at a super busy time plenty of seating and staff(though the seating is pretty cramped). Our waitress was a bit inattentive, and getting out of the parking lot is a PITA, but all in all a good visit and worth stopping again.

First off, I love cracker barrel stores. The shopping is so fun, and they always have the neatest stuff. It’s a great place to shop for unique items. The food at this location was nothing to write home about. We’ve noticed that in other Cracker Barrel locations, that the food quality varies widely depending on the experience of the cook. This location, when i went, didn’t have the best cook apparently. My chicken salad was extremely disappointing, and it is very hard to mess up a chicken salad. The amount of chicken was pathetic, it was mostly lettuce. A very common cost-cutting measure and not worth what they charged. My husband didn’t enjoy his dish much either. When Cracker Barrel has a good cook, I love eating here. I’ll probably try this one again later, maybe they will have gotten a new cook.

I always leave this place with a smile. The menu has a great assortment of foods. Nice portions at decent prices. Spending time in the gift store after eating is an added bonus. I used to look forward to eating at Cracker Barrels during road trips, now I am so happy to have one just a few miles away.

I’ve been to several Cracker Barrels so I know the routine. Made the unfortunate decision to do Mother’s Day brunch with the family at this location. I know they’re busy on Sundays. I know Mother’s Day is the worse day of the year to do a restaurant. Nonetheless, family members decided to book our party of sixteen at this location. Having teenagers run your hostess stand/reservations is a bad idea. Especially when busy. Two hours into our wait after counting at least seven large parties 8 – 10 be seated, we asked for an update. I’ve worked in the restaurant business and know the routine. Don’t promise specific times or commit to anything. All she would tell us was it would probably be another hour. This is not the first time I’ve had this experience with Cracker Barrel at multiple locations. These restaurants have a good concept but are poorly run. Seldom does there appear to be competent management. To me, that traces back to the corporate office and how they train their managers. 2.5 hours later we left and went to the Allen Café. Small family owned restaurant that actually cares about their customers. Great experience. Get your act together CB. Today’s consumer has many choices. Screw the customer and they’ll share their experience; social media does make a difference.

I guess costs have gone up because quality has definitely gone down. I needed something warm in my tummy after taking some pills, I drove quite a few miles to get to CB for their chicken and dumplings. Yum! But they brought out a plate with a small pile of dumplings and what looked like 2 breast halves. No soup. So I asked if I could have some of the soup part, and they brought out a little bowl with about 2 tablespoons in it. I ate that and left. Very disappointed.

Really great country/American food. Always a good stop during road trips, the food is so filling! Wish there was more vegetarian meals, but the 3, 4, or 6 side option is great. I got mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, greens, and fried okra. The biscuits and corn bread are very great as well. Our waiter Richard was very kind and efficient even during a busy hour! Would love to return here.

Not impressed at all with the food or the service. The one thing I did like was the store area. Childhood memories tucked away inside a country restaurant. For that it’s worth 3 stars.

Service has been real issue with us for a while here. We keep giving another chance as it is close to work and don’t have to drive far for lunch. My husband Had buttermilk fried chicken which was terribly over cooked-only had middle of the two small medallions that you could even chew. Salmon patties were thin and so hard pressed that they were actually tough. Service again horrible. Hostess disappeared when she saw us walk up. She did peek out at us a couple of times but took a long time to come seat us… and no wonder, she couldn’t walk a half mile in an entire day at that speed! Had to adk for catsup and was halfway through meal before we had it brought to us. Definitely forget this place if you have any place to be within couple of hours. We were there for well over hour and there was only handful of customers. Learned my lesson this time-no going back.

Sunday morning at 9:30 the parking lot was packed! Almost didn’t stop. Glad we did. To my surprise it was only a 5 – 10 minute wait. We browsed the store for a few minutes and then got seated promptly. Food arrived in less than 10 minutes. This place operates like a well-oiled machine. Tables around us were being cleared quickly and reset for new guests. Breakfast was fast plus delicious. Congratulations to the manager and staff. You have it all under control.

My family and I frequent this location after evening sport events on the weekend. The service has always been good and fairly fast. The lady who helped us yesterday, named Rachel, was super sweet, fast and efficient! She was able to take our drink and food orders right away rather than us have to wait some time. We explained that we did not have much time and Rachel did everything in her power to ensure that we were served quickly and that our order was correct. Perhaps we have been lucky on the days in which we have visited this store. The manager on duty as well as those at the register to check us out have also been equally professional and nice. I have no problem going back to this location. The food has always been hot and the portions have been reasonable.

Disappointed, have not been in quite a while usually am not displeased with the food but this time was very sad especially since I tried their Friday Fish Fry. Barely warm, I am finding it difficult to understand any restaurant is not capable of serving food hot. Won’t be returning.

Good old American country food. You can find these along the highway and this one is in Allen off 75. I usually get the chicken fried steak, which is good because the steak inside is juicy while the layer of the fried part is crunchy. There is almost a gap between the two and when you are combining these two, it is an amazing combination. This time however, I got the Big Boy Country Breakfast and needless to say, it filled me up. In comes with 3 eggs(I did sunny side up) grits, biscuits and gravy, sirloin steak, and I got a double order of hash browns to replace the fried apples. For around $ 10, this was a sweet deal. I got the steak medium rare and it really came out good. The hash browns were probably the best part and had the crunchy outside and a soft inside. I got to try some of the pancakes too… they’re the best in town.

This has become our go-to place of choice when we want to stay in town. Both the service and food are excellent! I usually get the lemon-pepper trout, and it is delicious! Of course there’s the quaint gift shop.

Our service was excellent today. The server checked back on us many times and my coffee was refilled as needed. The food was good. My daughter loved her chocolate chip pancakes. I thought the little hot syrup was so cute. My only complaint is the taste of the hashbrowns. To me they had a strong onion flavor.

Every time we go, this place is packed. Is it the price that attracts people? The menu selection is just like most restaurants. It must be that they serve breakfast all day, the country style ambiance and big portion for the value,

Cracker Barrel is a favorite breakfast place of mine. But it is always crowded especially this establishment on Sunday brunch time. But a good place is expected to be crowded. Right? The way they do their country store where you check out from the restaurant is quite awkward, and it makes it such a hassle at times. They need to have better lines for the cash register stations. I saved my calorie count for the day and skipped breakfast at home this Sunday. I had the Grandpa’s Country Fried Breakfast which comes with two eggs(over-medium preference) with Grits, Sawmill Gravy, two homemade Buttermilk Biscuits, Hashbrown Casserole, and Chicken Fried Steak! MMMMMMMM good. There wasn’t much left on my plate. Thanks Cracker Barrel. I’ll be back, but hopefully I won’t have to wait in line for 30 minutes next time.

I haven’t been to Cracker Barrel since college when I was attending Baylor. Therefore I was kind of rusty on their signature dishes or their must-haves. I got the southwest hash and eggs as I wanted to go kind of safe but also a bit daring. The service was kind of off, but it could be because it was a post New Years weekend. The store within the restaurant was a great way to kill time for the table wait.

Party of seven, so some problems to be expected. Just not this one. My order was a chicken BLT with a side of fries. 15 minutes later all the food arrived except my fries. This was pointed out to the server. A few minutes later when he refilled drinks it was pointed out again. Several minutes later it was pointed out again. So, well after the sandwich was eaten the fries arrived. They were about half done. So I could eat both ends and discard the middle. The server did note my half eaten fries. I explained why and he shrugged. The other six people enjoyed their meals.

I don’t think you can be a Texan without going to Cracker Barrel. AND, in saying that, my boyfriend had never been. I had to take him, or dump him. So, we went post workout on a Saturday morning. Burnt off the calories so we could go into a caloric coma at Cracker Barrel. I adore the mini syrup bottles, don’t judge. And, if you ever need a gift for grandma, you get breakfast and the gift in one stop. It makes me feel like I’m instantly 75 years old when I walk into Cracker Barrel, but I’m completely okay with that. Food was as expected, but our waiter was super friendly and even offered to send us home with drinks too(without us asking first).

I am a Cracker Barrel fan but this location is the pits! This last occasion have way to burnt bacon. On a couple of other occasions they burnt my sausage and pancakes but tried to hide it by flipping it on the opposite, less burnt side. Too many choices to deal with mess!

Our dinner didn’t start out well, with me ordering the meatloaf early on a Friday evening and being told, after the order was sent to the kitchen, that they were out of it. I didn’t really have a backup plan, so I settled on the roast beef(essentially pot roast). The meat was tough and lacking in flavor, with a fair amount of connective tissue still present. Baby carrots side dish were very uninspired, with sugar as their only real seasoning. Grits and turnip greens fared slightly better, with the latter having decent seasoning and not too overooked, and the former having a nice cheesy flavor and thick texture. Frankly, the bread course was probably the best part of the meal, and even it had issues — the slightly burnt reports from other reviews rang true for our basket, but the parts that didn’t suffer that fate did taste pretty good, especially with a generous application of butter. I’ll admit that I’m probably not the target demographic of this chain, but I was hoping for something a little more tasty. Maybe I’ll try breakfast at some point, as those biscuits did seem to show promise. It just didn’t deliver for our dinner, though.

Sandy T. our waitress was fabulous! The décor is Meh! Too touristy for me. Reminded me of Stucky’s from long ago. Good home cooking type of food. I enjoyed the dishes we tried, but really liked the cole slaw today… It was really hot outside so it was refreshing. Had the Chicken fried steak — it was meh… The french fries were, french fries as they should be cooked. Cole slaw was yummy. Son got my 3rd side of the Hash brown casserole. Good, but mine is better. Mama’s breakfast was a ton of food. All very good.

The food is always good at all Cracker Barrel locations and this one didn’t let me down. The only thing was the server kept forgetting things. If you are going to make jokes and laugh with us before you take our order, you better be on your game when it comes down to actual serving. He forgot my eggs and bacon, then my hashbrown casserole. We didn’t get silverware when we were first seated either. Hmmm, I love your country cookin’ but you gotta fix some things here in Allen.

Got let out of jury duty right after I got there, so decided to have some breakfast. Did wait a few minutes at hostess stand since you can’t seat yourself. Jenna was my waitress, immediately took drink order and reappeared shortly with coffee. Ordered the Southwest Sausage Hash. Food arrived not even 10 minutes later and the eggs, scrambled of course, were cooked perfectly. The hash wasn’t bad but wasn’t great. Tabasco definitely helped the flavor or everything. As for the accompanying biscuits, they were a bit hard, a definite downer. Overall, not a bad breakfast but nothing to write home about.

I’ve eaten at Cracker barrels all over the country. They’ve always been very good home cookin style food. This location was a first. The food was awful. I had chicken & dumplings, turnip greens and corn bread dressing. My wife had the breakfast sampler. Her rolls were good except too dark on the bottom. I could only eat the top half. Her ham, bacon and sausage were all over cooked and near scorched. My chicken & dumplings were served on a plate. not a bowl. There was no stock or soup base, the chicken was overcooked and bone dry therefore tough. The turnip greens were good and on the order of Cracker Barrel’s normal quality level. I’ll eat at C.B. again but not this location. I did mention it to the general mgr… He thanked me then rushed off. I’ll eat at C.B. again but not this location.

The food was great and the serving size was huge. When waiting to get a table you have the option to stand in a very small and crowed room with people and novelties, or you can wait outside.(This is the first issue) My other issue is that the staff is not very friendly. I sat down and had to wait several mins(5) for a waiter to ask if I wanted something to drink. While waiting I watched two employees argue in the middle of a full dining room where guests could see and hear the whole situation. #trainingopportunity
