I go at least once a month with a group of my friends from work. We really enjoy the atmosphere, food and service. We decided this is our new restaurant of choice — at least until we go through the menu — have not had a bad thing yet. Also they can handle large tables.

/TL;DR It’s not quite what I expected. Upscale-ish dining with a nautical theme? Interesting. Upscale prices anyway. :o) I wasn’t looking for a meal in the upscale price range so I stuck to the lower-end items. Maybe that was the mistake because the cuisine didn’t strike me as anything particularly special. /ATMOSPHERE It’s modern. It’s nautical. Modernautical? Not uncomfortable, just oddly placed. You’ll see what I mean. Check it out for sure. /FOOD Split a burger and fish tacos. Neither were outstanding but not bad. Mostly just decent and forgettable. /SERVICE Great. The guy knew his beer. I’ve since become a fan of Cadence. ;-) HOWTOREADMYREVIEWS: 1 Star — Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars — If I’m in the area, I’d pick something else. 3 Stars — I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars — I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars — I would go out of my way to dine here.

Says good for kids. Unfortunately it’s not that simple. For example, they have queso dip but are unable to serve it without jalapeño. It’s not that it’s bad for kids just more of an adult place that’s NOT completely inappropriate to bring your kids to. Food is decent enough and simple but nothing that stands out or that is unique. Short cuts are taken but prices are reasonable. Nice atmosphere and proximity to home will keep me coming back. I hope the food evolves a touch. Service is good. Would give 3.5 if I could. Hope I can give it a 4 in the future. Bumped to 4 stars. They have been great outside of a few issues with option limitations.

Third time at tavern. Food was consistent and fabulous, waitress, Pam was very friendly and knowledgeable of menus. Oysters on half shell among best I have had. Tavern is great addition to Windward neighborhood. Will be regular patrons. Place as full on Saturday night, ambiance greatly improved. Had lunch a few weeks ago, same quality experience. You could not go wrong eating at WT anytime!

We started going to the tavern in December, 2015. We have been about 10 times in 2 months. The food is great quality and seasoned well. I love the calamari for an appetizer and the fish and chips for an entrée! The staff in the main main dining area is very attentive and friendly. The managers seem very aware and concerned when something goes wrong with an order. Overall A+

Décor was nice. Place was clean. Service was great. I had the fish tacos, and they were pretty good. I thought the price was fair. I’ll go again.

Opposite of cozy interior, overpriced, average food and subpar service. The interior took a step back after the remodel. Dining area is closed off from bar area. So don’t expect to be able to catch a game while enjoying a family meal. Chicken pot pie is really just soup with a crust on top. All the dishes are over priced and service is pretty slow. We had such high hopes but will give it a few months to work out the kinks before trying again.

Food is okay, that’s it. Not good, not great, not bad. Blue cheese chips didn’t have much topping, but the chips were good. Spinach & artichoke dip, okay as well – kinda small serving though. I ordered the pork chop– which was excellent, however the vidailia onion gravy was a grey«slop» plopped on top. Collard greens were good, but the bacon mac & cheese was not. Overall, it was OK Husband ordered the fish tacos, again, it was ok. He said he liked the batter on the fish, but it was one giant chunk wrapped in a flour tortilla(no option for corn), presentation just wasn’t very appealing. We’ll go back based on convenient location, and check out the bar side – but, not for dinner.

Our party was for 5 people. French onion soup was good, turkey burger not tasty, we also ordered a turkey club without tomato and it came w tomatoes and no bacon. The blue cheese chips were good. Chicken wings were ok. Waiter didn’t bring us straws, we had to ask three times and we got them with naked hands. The manager talked to us and comped the turkey club price so that was a plus! Place is clean and comfortable bar looks cool!

Great Ribeye and my friend loved the fish and chips. Would give a 5 as the service, food, and value are excellent. Kind of a drabby feel to the place. Definitely try it for yourself.

Best service you will find. Owner is New Yorker, & they know service makes all the difference. I truly could not believe how quickly my food came after ordering. Eileen is awesome & should be a trainer for all eateries. She noticed how I needed more napkins while eating my delicious Philly cheesesteak. She also kept my tea topped off. Manager Scott treated everyone like family. The energy in that place was high, yet cozy. Very pleased with this new tavern! Menu is ideal in that it’s not over done. There is plenty to choose from, I’m looking forward already to going back & probably going to try the hanger steak. Go enjoy!

People really seemed to like this place while we were there. I was not a fan of the menu. It’s southern food, very heavy if you are trying to be healthy. The bar looked fun, but the restaurant is a little too open and without great atmosphere. I had a salad with asian dressing which was good, and the ribs which were just average. All the veggies are cooked with tons of butter which was a turn off for me. Service was good, and my margarita yummy. I will not rush back quickly mostly because the food was just not my style.

Great bar food and environment. This has become our«local» and have already spent some great nights here. Really like all of the bartenders and they are attentive and knowledgeable. The Reuben, blue cheese chips and the French dip are on point. Hey ya’ll save me a seat!

FINALLY!!! This is a breath of fresh air for this area since Cinco left a while back. Great family place with great service, friendly staff/management and good food. Since opening in late November 2015, I’ve been there three times. The kids even love it. The bar area is nice too with TVs and a spacious area with seats and high tops. It’s still fresh out of the wrapper so let’s see how they fare over the next several months. Good place for families or just to meet friends there for drinks and food. Good work, keep it up!

This place has only been open a few weeks. I ordered the Yellowfin Tuna with flipped corn. All I can say is everything was awesome. Services was great at the bar, ask for Terri. She really knows the menu.

WAIT A MINUTE! DIDYOUJUSTSERVEME A BOWLOFCHICKENSOUPWITH A LARGECRACKERANDCALLIT A POTPIE? OHYESYOUDIDANDTHATISNOTOK! This was my first visit to Windward Tavern and it was memorable for all the wrong reasons. My husband and I went in for an early dinner. The menu was very limited,(I never order soups, salads or sandwiches so they don’t really count), so I settled on the pot pie because I was very hungry and wanted something substantial to eat before continuing on with my activities. My husband ordered a reuben sandwich with french fries. Our food was delivered quickly but imagine my surprise when I realize that someone has taken a beautifully prepared cup of soup, poured into a nice dish and placed a very large cracker over the top,(see the photos). As an «old school» cook who would not normally order a pot pie in a restaurant, I was trying to be «open» and take a risk. I was keenly aware of the crust being on the top only, but that is the only concession that I was willing to make. It was absolutely NOT my intention or desire to order a $ 12 cup of soup. Nor did I expect to go out for a meal and leave hungry. I actually had to leave and go to another restaurant for a more substantial meal. That should never happen! Someone really needs to rethink the chicken soup masquerading as a pot pie. Just put it in on the appetizer menu and call it what it is: Chicken Soup! Regarding my husband’s reuben sandwich, it was well prepared and he really enjoyed it. SERVICE The waiter was nice and did his job but he was a little flat for my taste. I prefer someone who is more animated and engaging. We did have a couple of owner/manager members stop by the table and inquire about the meal and I chose not to address the food issue because it really would have been pointless. What could they possibly say? «We didn’t think you’d notice». I am ambivalent about a possible return simply because I can’t trust that I will get a satisfying meal. Lunch may be an option sometime down the road but you had better believe that I will eat before I go! By the way, they really need to invest in a good water filter. 12÷26÷15 After considering my experience at this restaurant, I decided that two stars are more appropriate because I did not receive what I ordered and was over-charged for what I did receive. Also, water is always my beverage of choice when dining out so it needs to have a very clean taste. This water did not. Bottom line, prices are just not justified. Not recommended!

It was our first time here tonight and we we loved it. We had a group of 7 families, all with kids. The food was perfectly timed. They dealt with the children so amazingly well! There were no complaints about our noise level. The service was impeccable. Food was phenomenal. Totally recommend the blue cheese crumbled chips and the meatloaf. Bacon mac n cheese was really good too! Great place. We’ll definitely be back!!!

Stopped in for a quick lunch to check out this new spot. No waiting which is nice in this area at lunch time. I’m sure it won’t be long before they get packed! Sat at the bar and had the Cobb Salad which was great and a beer. Our bartender Lo was sweet and helpful in making menu recommendations. Décor is clean and fresh. Looking forward to more visits!

We ordered multiple appetizers and then dinner. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. The atmosphere on the restaurant side is great, not overwhelmingly loud. The bar is really well laid out too. Finally a place that is close to home that the whole family can enjoy!
