One word: YUCK! Driving through downtown American Fork and thought we’d take a chance on a quaint little diner for breakfast. The waitress was quick to bring out coffee and it was good, freshly brewed. I had high hopes for breakfast after the coffee but no such luck. The scones were crunchy and so greasy with rancid oil I couldn’t eat them. Ordered an omelet and hashbrowns and the hashbrowns had a HORRIBLE chemical taste to them that I soon recognized as AMMONIA. The omelet was average but after tasting the ammonia potatoes I had lost my appetite. The omelet came with a small pancake that also had a strange plastic flavor and everything was served with crappy margarine, not butter. One bite of everything was enough. Blecch. As we went to pay we let the cashier(also our waitress) know about the weird hashbrowns; she was unapologetic and just asked for our money. Terrible food and terrible customer service.

Don’t be scared off by the ambience, the food is super good. I walked in expecting slimy, bad food but was feeling adventurous — and I was completely blown away. It’s like they make the food with real ingredients. I had the meat lovers omelet, and it’s the best omelet I’ve had in a restaurant. Great bacon and sausage. I’ll be coming back. It would be 5 stars but the dining area is a bit rough for me.

Our favorite weekend brunch spot. We love dive diners, the kind run by locals, with sassy waitresses that recognize you whenever you come in. There are the same 5 old guys every Sunday drinking coffee and arguing about old cowboy stories from their younger days. The décor is kitschy. The food here isn’t anything fancy. It’s down home cooking, but that’s the reason it’s the best! It’s not over the top, it’s the stuff your grandma or mama used to make for you on Sunday mornings. Favorite things I’ve tried so far: all the breakfast items, or the BLT. I get that at least every other time we go here. The only downside is they close at 6pm, since they open so early for the morning crowd.

I eat here on almost a weekly basis. Owner locally runs it and they remember their customers. Their bacon is the bomb.

We came in for lunch one day(of course we ordered breakfast foods) and it was definitely an experience. It’s crammed full of kitschy knick-knacks and the waitresses and chefs were teasing each other and joking around with customers. It’s a colorful joint, and super small-town, but the food was so good! My husband devoured his omelette, and the pancakes were so light. The fried scones were awesome as well.

I would like top give this 4.5 stars, but that’s not an option. I’m so glad I found this place. Personally, I love these«local» places. Everyone knows everyone, people give each other crap, they aren’t pretentious, or trying to be something they aren’t, and family seems to be integral in the structure of the business. To me fancy ambiance is less important than having some good food. So… I had chicken fried steak. I try this everywhere and it’s hard to find good chicken fried steak. It’s either too greasy tasting, soggy, or off texture. These guys steak is crispy, with gravy that has visible sausage bits. Not greasy tasting at all. Stayed crispy until the LAST bite. Eggs: PERFECT. Seriously. I order eggs over medium every time and maybe 1 out of a hundred is cooked right. The yolks were bright yellow which indicates quality, and there was zero snotty white for me to gag on. Hashbrowns: I did mean to ask for extra crispy. They were a little underdone but still tasty. I just like crispy crispy. Coffee: fantastic Service: Thank you for always making sure my coffee cup was full. I hate it when my coffee cup is empty. Not a long wait for food, attentive service. Sure this place isn’t pretty with candles, bathroom attendants, linen napkins, and table side prep, but if you want a good breakfast with a casual atmosphere, that isn’t a crappy chain breakfast joint… Here ya go. Give it a try.

Previous reviews rag on the atmosphere here, but there is nothing about this old style café that will make you feel uncomfortable. A lot of locals eat here, which to me is a good sign. I had the biscuits and gravy, tried a pancake and their garbage hash browns. All were very good. The biscuits and gravy were simple and delicious, plenty of gravy and sausage. The pancake was fluffy, not too dry and tasted good. The garbage hash browns are anything but garbage. If you’re looking for a meaty, big hash brown with plenty of vegetables this is it. Good food, good atmosphere and pretty decent service.

Ok now… hear me out. Walking into this place I immediately felt uncomfortable. Everyone in that room knew it was our first time and it’s a strange place. The kind of place you would stumble upon driving thru an old coastal town. The wait was looooong and I was nervous. But then our food came. It was ALL fresh, all home made, all from scratch, even the fries(although undercooked) husband got chicken fried steak and garbage hash. The hash was generous with meat and mushrooms and was probably the best I’ve ever had. Hit the spot! The kids got great homemade pancakes, real eggs, real bacon. I got the Reuben and it was high quality meat, it was great! What’s important to me is real food and this was real food in a strange place. If you can get past the weird ambiance and strange service you’ll have a good meal.

Great food and reasonably priced. Real bacon. Not that pre cooked stuff that is microwaved. Hometown feel.

Fluffy buttery pancakes, awesome service, lots of old men. Plus, there is a real live Tangie! She works Tuesdays Thursdays and Fridays.

I’ve been coming here for breakfast for the past 8 years. It’s good food. Nothing special just good home style meals. Never had a bad experience here.

Don’t come in here expecting anything. This is your local(barely making it) café being run by real people. The place is a bit dirty, old, etc… I didn’t expect my coke to come in a can but it did and it tasted fine. Look for the sign that says«control your children, keep them in their seat». The prices are ok but not dirt cheap. I ordered the double bacon cheeseburger and a grilled ham and cheese. The burger was fresh(not frozen) and so were the fries. Grilled cheese had deli ham on it((1 slice) and maded on white bread. I paid 4.25 and I am guessing this cost them no more than .50 cents to make. Not bad tasting at all although the fries were a bit under-cooked. Over-all it wasn’t bad. Service was a bit slow, I am guessing they are cooking for 1 table at a time. But It felt good to be eating in this local place,

I’ve only had breakfast at this place and it was surprisingly tasty. Interesting space and interesting crowd, but don’t let that scare you off. It’s pretty good.

The food is café Tuesday — Saturday. Especially from 5:30 — 2:30. Rodger the cook does a real good job Tangie the owner works those hours. The bacon is worth eating alone. Don’t expect much but just good breakfast and entertainment from the old folks cuttin up giving each other crap for being old.

I feel horrible doing this but well my experience was horrible. the food was disgusting. Our waiter was rude and covered in hickeys… just saying I don’t really want to picture what she was doing the night before while I eat my gross meal. new management is in order
