Best Sushi in Anchorage! Amazing service! My favorite isnthe Spider Roll, but I have loved everything we have tried. our waitress suggested the Mandalay Bay, it was unbelievably good!

The food is good, the restaurant clean, and service is prompt… too prompt. I went here for lunch today with my husband and the server kept taking plates before we were done with them. It was very annoying after the first time, especially since there were plenty of empty tables and turn around was obviously not an issue. I felt rushed. I like coming here for lunch because the prices are affordable and the food is tasty, but please take the time to train your staff on proper etiquette on removing plates.

I’ve been here a few more times since my first review and I can honestly say it is one of the best sushi spots in town. While the quality does not match some of the competition the price per person is a lot lower than many of the sushi restaurants in town. So if you’re balling on a budge, Sushi Yako is a great place to go for decent food at reasonable prices.

I honestly had a great time eating here. The staff were super friendly and professional, and didn’t bother our group constantly throughout the meal. The design and ambiance of this place is refreshingly different from any place in town. The portions are large and on-​par with the prices, so the dishes are easy to share if you get a few rolls. I’d even suggest looking at the menu before you go; there are so many options to read through.

Nice, calm ambience. Stopped in for a Sapporo and try out their Ceviche. I was expecting just the salad type but came on top of a roll. very good. Ordered Chirashi dinner to go… good cuts… will come back in the future.

Wife and I ordered the sushi ya boat and were overjoyed. Really fantastic miso, salad, and vinegar noodle dish. And boy, I’ve never had such thick sashimi! The texture of the fish really comes out here. Great place. Really nice décor as well.

I checked this place out on my lunch break with my mom. I was pleased to see that almost all the sushi rolls were $ 9.99, with a substantial listing on the lunch menu at less. I got a rainbow roll $ 8.99 and was happy to see that it came with miso soup, salad (with a better, maybe lime-​y dressing than I come to expect), and a cold, vinegar-​based noodle dish. I thought the sushi was delicious and my mom was pleased with her similarly priced bento box, which did seem to come with a lot of food. My only gripe is that I wish they had a bento box with a sushi option. However, I did appreciate the variety of rolls you could get at a reduced price.
The servers were super nice and attentive. Both my mom and I liked the atmosphere; very nice, but still comfortable feeling. Will definitely be back!

Nice atmosphere, and these people try really hard to smile and be courteous.
Their English is really rough, and they should try to improve it but I’m sure that they’re in the restaurant working 100 hours per week.
You can tell that the staff work hard to give you value where they can.
My one gripe was literally 4 little wraps of ginger and minuscule wasabi for what was a big piece of sushi. They really need to give more ginger, it wasn’t nearly enough, unless you only want ginger on ²⁄₈ pieces. YOU HEAR ME? I’m sure they would give you more if you ask but who wants to have to do that?

The staff is very sweet and attentive. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and contemporary. I love the ambiance.
The menu is comprehensive. I ordered the sashimi combination. Cat brought out tea, miso, salad, and some yummy rice noodle/​vinegar concoction right away. Everything was superb. I could drink the salad dressing!
When she brought out my dinner, Cat asked if I wanted low sodium soy or anything else. I asked if they had tamari. She said yes and returned right away with another bottle. She said, «It is not exactly tamari, but it is gluten free.» I wanted to kiss her! She gets me!
The sashimi was generously sliced and like butter on my tongue.
Cat and her mates took very good care of me! I will make it a point to visit every time I’m in town.

I love this place every time I come into town I definitely stop by here. This place is amazing the rolls are probably the best in Alaska. The staff is so friendly and the design of this place is so classy:)

Place was awesome! I say at the sushi bar and the guys were quiet at first but we got to talking since I was there alone on business. Yellowtail toro was the best! Melts in your mouth! Yellow tail hamachi wasn’t my favorite but I wasn’t expecting half of a cooked fish. Everything else was awesome!

This was our first time coming to this restaurant. We wanted to try something new and we actually were headed to a different sushi spot before this but it ended up being closed. When we first entered the restaurant this place was so nicely decorated! Love the look and feel of the place. Very clean and modern. I would probably say that this place is the best looking sushi spot here in Anchorage.
1) Our Server was super friendly and always smiled. She was very welcoming.
2) The soup and salad we got was good. Im not a huge fan of miso soup but as long as it comes hot I’m good. Usually they restaurants that I’ve gone to they serve you luke warm soup or room temp soup and its UGH! The salad here is so good. I prefer it other than all the other sushi spots who usually end up doing some sort of tart citrus dressing. This was totally different from that and my friends and I loved it!
3) The only reason I gave this place a 3 star than a 5 star is because I had ordered a certain roll and maybe 15 min later I was told they weren’t able to do it. Something about no cucumber which was weird because all the other rolls had cucumber and Im sure they weren’t out. My roll was suppose to be wrapped in cucumber I don’t remember what the roll was called. So I ended up ordering another roll super quick because I was so hungry and I didn’t want to continue to look at the menu. My friends food came out first and I had to wait since they were barely making mine and they told me late about it being out. Once I got my roll, I think i ordered the sunset roll. I wasn’t a big fan of it. Kind of disappointed with it. It tasted a bit fishy. The combination of the jalapeño and siracha was just too much as well. I really wasn’t a fan of this roll and our server had recommended it. I didn’t want to return it so I literally only ate 2 because i was hungry and my friends had to help me finish it. I ended up eating my friends rolls because it tasted so much better than what I ordered.
4) our server also ended up giving us ice cream on the house and Im not sure if its because she felt bad about my order but that was nice of her.
5) I loved the happy hour deal at this place though. 9.99 rolls excluding the special rolls which I had ordered a special roll thinking it was going to be pretty good, but I should of stuck with the $ 9.99 rolls…
All in all i would definitely want to try this place again and hope to give it 5 stars next time!

Great service, atmosphere, prices and yummy Japanese food!
I also appreciated the jazz music although it’d be great to have Japanese songs.
While I miss Yamato Ya, Sushi Yako is a contender. Give them a try

The exterior if this place is nothing special, it’s probably why you’ve driven by a million times.

The interior is… WOW! It is modern and classy. And not in that «I’m trying too hard to modern and classy» way, it really is nice inside!
Anyway, I sat down and my waitress greeted me and took my order.
I got a Mongolian beef bento special from the happy hour menu. It set me back $ 15 and came with:
— Salad, with delicious vinegar noodles
— Soup (miso? I think)
— Rice
— Mongolian beef
— At least 4 pieces of tempura (two shrimp, sweet potato and another veggie)
— Broccoli
— 4 pieces of California roll sushi
Pretty freakin’ awesome, right?
The service was incredible and on my way out FOUR PEOPLE thanked me for coming! First my server, then sushi chef #1, then sushi chef #2, then the hostess!
I will DEFINITELY be back.
Also: great place to come if you see the crowds in Moose’s tooth and think «No.»
One more thing: the WiFi here is incredible. Easily the best in town!

This place is literally a OKAY restaurant. Not much to complain or give a note on because I’ve only tasted the Udon there. (had dinner before)
At first the waitress was not fast and agile and she only gave us ONE cup when we ordered a sake for 2 people. 3 of us went into the restaurant and we ordered one udon which made her laugh at us. I caught her smirking after she took our order.
The udon tasted ok but it was a little salty.
I have had better restaurants than this but I still think this place is decent.

This restaurant is awesome! The rolls are great and the service is amazing! We will be coming back time and time again!

This place has won me over. 10^th and M seafoods, an exceptional company, is their distributor. The creative chefs take pride in making masterpieces you can eat. Each roll is uniquely plated with flair and attention to detail. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxing and the service could not be more welcoming and friendly.
I would pay any price to dine here, but the majority of their rolls are only $ 10. Try the Island roll and chx fried rice. You will be so happy!

Really quite good. We ordered a dinner combo to go, with bulgogi, shrimp and vegetable tempura, rice, and 4pc of some sort of roll (I dunno, Dad chose it). The bulgogi is AWESOME. So good. It was tender and flavorful and incredibly juicy. The tempura (which I’m normally not a huge fan of) was also really good. I wasn’t a huge fan of the unknown roll, but Dad and I have super different tastes in sushi, so it’s understandable. The rice was rice and cooked well.
I’ll definitely stop by again.

Not many bento boxes include 2 shrimp tempura but this place does and much more. The bento box includes your selection of main entrée, I chose the sesame chicken which was crispy and had the perfect amount of sweetness, 2 gyozas, 3 vegetable tempura, tempura sauce and a mound of sticky rice for 8.99. No expense is spared on the to go box and nothing gets tossed around on the way back to the office. All in all, the food was cooked to perfection and hot. I would definitely take the time to dine in since the ambiance looks calming and elegant.

Not bad at all… very nice décor and waitstaff was very helpfull… happy hour sushi for 9.99 a roll… can’t complain there
