I had been wondering about this place for awhile having read some great reviews on Unilocal.Arrived just after 1 p.m. on a Saturday. Only a handful of people dining. The steam table is right at the counter, so you can see most of the food. There was a big pan of fried chicken in the kitchen pass through window that look really good. I could tell right away that arriving earlier in the day would have made for a much better experience(they close at 2 p.m. on Saturday). Most of the sides looked very dried out. I decided on the fried chicken plate with greens, Cajun rice and a biscuit. I steered clear of the mashed potatoes since one Unilocal reviewer had already mentioned they’re made from a mix. The chicken wing and breast were delicious! It was perfectly seasoned– not heavy and greasy like fast-food chicken restaurants. The skin was crispy and golden brown. The Cajun rice is tasty with bits of sausage and bell pepper, and the collards were good, too. I know everyone raves about the biscuits, but the one I got was kind of mushy and fell apart when I tried to eat it. I’ll be going back again for that tasty chicken but it will be earlier in the day.

These biscuits are just amazing, ALMOST like granma’s. Just add the butter and away it goes. If you haven’t tried them you are missing something. Oh yeah the chicken, cabbage and meat loaf are good too.

Friendly place but it seems a bit run down. Service was good but the food could have been better. This place has potential but I’m not sure if the owner wants to put any money in it. I’m guessing he is waiting for someone to make him an outrageous offer because Apex is the place to be now.

Great biscuit spot! You can go inside and get a very good breakfast plate, or drive through for a biscuit. White meat chicken biscuit is an entire breast… Insane. Steak biscuit is one that you shouldn’t eat if you want to keep your shirt clean, as its coated in gravy. Sausage and cheese is awesome! It’s a little spicy, and very good!

Yum! Best fried chicken ever! Sides are amazing too! Best coleslaw I’ve ever had! Cajun rice with gravy and mashed potatoes are amazing too! Honestly everything I have had there so far did not disappoint!

Fast, quick, cheap and easy. That’s basically what this place is all about. It’s a great stop for breakfast. I usually hit this place before I head out on a fishing trip. The biscuits are decent size and keep me full till lunch. The sides aren’t bad either. I love the country style potatoes. I’ve tried the wings once and didn’t really like them. The breakfast biscuits are where it’s at.

Doesn’t get more country kitchen cookin’ than Dallas! They have the BEST fried chicken, their peach cobbler is to die for and their biscuits are just like grandma used to make. Friendly service and always filled with locals, this place feels like a hidden gem. My family often goes there for Sat«brunch» and we have enjoyed everything we have eaten. So happy Apex has a place like Dallas to offer its residents.

Well It may not look like much on the outside(or the inside for that matter) but they do serve one TASTY chicken and biscuit and some of the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. I’ll be back!

The chicken was some of the best i have had outside of what my wife cooks. The biscuts were pretty dang tasty too. The mashed potatoes were definitely from a box and that was disappointing. Its definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

This place is not for the health conscious but they do some fantastic scratch made, traditional southern food. The chicken biscuit is outstanding. It’s a full fried chicken breast with the bones torn out just before it’s put in the biscuit. Their egg and cheese and bacon, egg and cheese biscuits are good too. This is a traditional place frequented by locals. It’s well worth a visit.

I’ve been driving past this place for a while now so I decided to give it a try. Staff is friendly and service was prompt. As for the chicken, it’s just average. One if the breasts I got was juicy the other was rubbery. Biscuit was dry. It definitely needed some butter brushed on top. The entire meal lacked flavor.

This morning I stopped in for the first tine in almost 5 years. I ordered a Steak Biscuit, a personal favorite. It was EXACTLY the way I remembered. When I finished eating it I wished I had ordered two!

Open only until 3PM, this place serves breakfast and lunch. We came here on a Sunday morning. It was getting busy. You order in line. Their biscuits are very fresh. Chicken is well seasoned and plump. Prices are reasonable. Food came out hot. Definitely a local feel to the restaurant with Texas ambiance. If you mind eating in front of a deer head on the wall or longhorns, you may want to sit in the other section with more windows and natural light. Overall, a good place for fresh breakfast food at a decent price.

Stopped here with my family and had good chicken and biscuits. The best part was the chicken, biscuits were average and the cobbler was good but missing something. The décor is fun and old timey. Definitely a place to give a shot.

Soooo I’m not that big on chicken :/. I stopped here because my uncle and cousin wanted to come here because we were passing thru. They both had some oversized chicken with southern size while I opted for a boneless chicken sandwich and french fries. The french fries were yummy but the chicken was not for me. It was overcooked and hard. The tea wasn’t sweet, it was a step above unsweetened tea. My uncle and cousin had no complaints about their food(but this is my review so i guess they dont matter :). The places is really small and the décor is extremely outdated. I never say never because I’m always dragged to places I don’t want to go to BUT, I can say I wont go on my own ever!

I wanted to love this place and it to be my new Saturday morning breakfast joint, but it didn’t hit the spot for me. The food was fine, the service friendly, but I just prefer bojangles for a biscuit. I’ve heard lots of great things about the place, so maybe I came on an off day or maybe it’s just a personal preference thing. My husband enjoyed it and will go back again.

Stopped in on a Sunday morning for a breakfast biscuit. There was only one patron there reading their paper and drinking coffee. I ordered a biscuit with egg and cheese. The biscuit was dry and had very little flavor, the eggs were precooked and sitting in a steam table. Overall the sandwich was not terrible but I was expecting too be wowed by the biscuit flavor and was disappointed. The service was very nice but the small sample of the menu that I had was not great. I may try here again for the chicken.

I was craving a chicken biscuit and have heard nothing but good things about Dallas. I know this place has been in Apex forever I must have driven by it at least a thousand times. Well today was the day I decided to pull on in and give this place a try. The good: The people are so friendly that run this place, which will bring me back. The food came out fast and hot. The bad: I wasn’t in love with the chicken biscuit it was just a-ok! The breading was tasty but there wasn’t enough covering the chicken and the chicken was really dry. The french fries were very fresh but lacked any taste. After looking over the Unilocal reviews it seems I may have just ordered the wrong thing. I will definitely try it out again and check out some other menu items. Don’t judge this place from the outside — it’s a good home cooking small town kind of joint.

The steak biscuit with gravy!(AWESOME) The country ham biscuit!(AWESOME) Biscuits and gravy!(AWESOME) Blueberry Muffins!!!(AWESOME) Cinnamon Rolls!!!(Off the charts when they are fresh out of the oven) Definitely the best place in town for biscuits! There chicken is pretty good too, moist breast meat and good crunch on the outside.
