Best sushi in the area. Do yourself a favor and order the Akira Moonlight. Weekday lunch special — bento box is a great deal!

Continues to be the best sushi around. The food is so fresh you’d think they just took slices from a live fish! They are always happy to make anything special that is requested. Oh and the service, if only all restaurants could be this attentive and cheerful. Absolutely the best sushi in all of Northern Virginia if not all of the DC area.

Great food and amazing service. The sushi was all very fresh and delicious. Prices were more than fair for the high quality. What really made this place stand out was the amazing service. I have a favorite roll from back home that I asked them to make custom for me. They did it, no questions asked, and it was delicious!!!

This used to be my favorite place but the past few months, the amount of fish has been less. I’ve been coming here regularly for over a year. Time to look for a new sushi place!

I’ve been here about 5 times now. There is always a seat available when I have went. They have a good selection of sushi, rolls, and cooked meals. I have only tried the sushi and rolls. Both of them were excellent. the wait for your food is not that long. The salad and dressing are really good. I would say that the soup is a little below average. This is probably my favorite sushi place in town.

This place is great! We started going here a few months ago. We’ve dined here at three separate occasions. The sushi is great! This is our favorite sushi place because! I love it when you find a sushi place where even the cheaper rolls are full of flavor. For anyone who used to frequent Sakana Sushi in Vienna years ago. They have the same sushi chef, Ken.

Fresh fish, service like you are family, happy to have kids and babies without any complaint. This has been our go to sushi in the area for 5 years and it’s like being at home.

We came for early lunch on a monday and split the 3 roll lunch special between 2 people. The price was pretty good(three 8 piece rolls and a salad for $ 16), as was the service. I really liked the peanut salad dressing on the salad but just wasn’t impressed with the sushi. Of the spicy tuna, yellowtail and California, the California was the worst. Hard to screw up that classic. Probably won’t be coming back.

My favorite here is the«unagi» bowl; great taste! the sushi itself wasn’t that great; had another vegetable dish which was okay(had a bit of too much oil)

Going here for years during lunch and always great sushi and cooked food. The staff(Yumi is wonderful!) is extremely friendly — always welcoming. Ashburn has a gem!

Udon is legit, healthy broth, not a lot of sodium. Sushi is fresh and reasonably priced! One of my favorite sushi spots in Ashburn!

I came here for lunch, and I ate the chirashi bowl. I’ve been here a few times, but my past experiences were not memorable. Chirashi bowl today was just okay, not bad, not good either. $ 18 for a the bowl + miso + salad. The fish wasn’t that great, though not bad; I seem to remember we got 2 pieces each of omelet, tuna, salmon, and maybe yellowtail. The fish didn’t have any flavor. I’ve had much better chirashi in DC(Donburi!) for the same price. Service is good though.

Awesome!!! Loved it! This has got to be the BEST sushi I have had around the VA/WV/MD way(so far) We had the tempura roll and a few Akira special rolls and the spicy tuna roll was amazing. It tasted fresh and the chef knew what he was doing, we will DEFINITELY be going back. They even provided the chopsticks the kids could use easily! Id recommend. My neighbor recommended and I’m recommending to you!

My days and evenings are being spent in lovely Loudoun County! I enjoyed a nice luncheon with a few family members. Akira offers bento box lunch specials to include a nice serving of hot miso and a salad with ginger dressing. I enjoy trying out tempura at new places, and score… they offered a nice shrimp and veggie lunch special. The portion was gi-normous! Yes, there were at least 2 kinds of squash, several(4 shrimps) and various other veggies that normally don’t pass my lips unless they are coming out of a fryer. The broccoli, onions, squash and green beans all had a nice delicate crispness. The rest of my family members ordered the beef boxes, that included tempura veggies, gyoza, steam veggies, and a few pieces of CA rolls. Pricing was very reasonable and the portions were plentiful. Services was very nice. The place was hopping, almost all the tables were filled for a mid-week lunch hour.

We have been going to Akira for about a year now and, from day one, fell in love. Our once a month Akira sushi date has now become once — sometimes twice — a week it seems. The servers and chefs are all so very attentive and friendly and they know their customers. We’ve now made a game out of trying various sushi joints we come across in the DC area to see if anyone can top this place and it’s safe to say we are in a serious, long term relationship with Akira. Now on to the food… we stopped in for a late dinner last night and I already want to go back for more, which should say something. Their sushi never disappoints and is always fresh. Our favorites are the spicy tuna roll and Akira moonlight roll. We always order those items and usually add another one of our top picks(MIB and winter fire frequent our plates), then try something new. Last night, we tried the Spartan roll for the first time and it blew us away. I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to write this review. We recommend Akira to everyone so please stop in!

Best sushi in NOVA! I have been to several sushi places in Herndon, Fairfax, Sterling, Ashburn, etc etc but nothing lives up to Akira. My favorite is the spicy tuna, which is the spiciest spicy tuna I’ve ever had– in a good way. Make sure you always get the little soup & salad, the soup probably won’t blow you away but the salad dressing might be the best I have ever had. Seriously, sometimes I come here solely because I get cravings for their dressing. Service is always very good, even when they are busy. They bring out soup and salad literally within 30 seconds of you ordering it. And the chefs say thank you to every single person leaving, which is a nice touch.
