Although the food turned out good, the wait was over an hour for our food & we didn’t get our app until the food finally came after having to get a manager. It was obvious our waiter was new & wasn’t ready for the floor. However, Melissa(the manager) made the experience better by taking over and being very accommodating, for that I will give 3 stars. Thank you Melissa for trying to make my brothers graduating lunch better…

First-time here. The food was great as well as the prices. There’s a lot of choices on the menu. Great for families and kids.

Over the years I have had my up’s and downs with Cheddars. But today was probably one of the very worse visits. The waiter who was serving our table was very unfriendly, He may have said 3 words to us. We had to tell him we were ready to order… After taking our order, he LEFT! We watched him get in his car and LEAVE. We were never addressed with any refills, And had to go chasing down our appetizer we ordered, that was never delivered. The table behind us had the same waiter, they complained and was given their meal free, and $ 25 gift certificates for their next visit. After waiting 30 mins for a drink refill, we had lost our want to finish the meal, and were just ready to get out. We paid our check, even tho it wasn’t even the slightest discounted. and left. Cheddars really dropped the ball today.

My husband and I went here when we were in Asheville in September and thought we would come back by while we were Asheville again. When we went there the first time everything was amazing and we were very impressed with the food and the service. However, the same cannot be said for this visit. When we arrived there was clearly a wait and the host told us it would be 17 – 23 minutes, well we ended up waiting a hour. Once we got to the table it took our waitress 10 minutes before she even greeted us, I would add her name in this review, but she didnt tell us what it was. Then after placing our drink order and food order at the same time we waited another 15 – 20 minutes for food. Our queso and chips was actually nacho cheese and chips. When the rest of our food came it was hot and very good. I cant really say anything bad about the food, except for the nacho cheese. But miss no name was no where. She never came back but one time and when she did she stood there and complained about having to work since 11am. My husband and I never got refills and we were lucky to track her down to get the check. We will never be going back to that place again.

Wonderful! Good, filling comfort food and EXCELLENT service. Alyssa took care of us and we couldn’t have been happier. She was attentive, friendly and prompt. Not one step of service was missed and her personality was stellar.

The restaurant is dirty, the food is fattening(but tasty). Not on the top of my list for dining options on the east side of Asheville.

Worst dinning experience in while. Been going here since opening, however the must want more money prices gone up quality way way done. Always order Dijon chicken and mushrooms, usually amazing. Now they use canned mushrooms. Called manager Jason. And he didn’t even apologize. Was condescending to my wife. If you want to pay 10 dollars for canned food then this place is for you. Because management doesn’t care. Thanks Andrew Fortner 8284502837.

Service was great. Our waitress was attentive and super friendly. Food, not much to write home about. I have the country fried steak and it was soooo bland. Bland enough that I needed to load all the potatoes onto it for flavor. We also got the salsa and queso. Salsa tasted like something out of a jar but the queso was good. I pretty much filled up on that to avoid eating the rest of that country fried steak! Chicken pot pie was ok. Again, not a lot of flavor in the food dishes. Presentation A+ though! Flavor C-. If you’re starving, you’ll find something to eat. But if you have time, find somewhere with a little more flavor!

I am DONE with this place. This use to be my favorite restaurant, and ive frequented here many many times. When I had guests come from out of state I took them here because I knew it was the best. Over the past couple of months, Things have started lacking… The services is so slow, and the waitstaff do not seem to care about their customers at all. I’ve tried to complain to the management, and all they do is give me a $ 5 gift card and go on their way, Meanwhile the place continues to go down hill. Today we visited Cheddar’s for lunch, It was a late lunch so the place was pretty much cleaned out. Not many tables to tend to. There literally may have been 10 tables with people at them total, and there is more than just one person waiting tables. The lady that served us walked by and around us several times without bothering to stop for anything. When we flagged her down asking for more drinks she took 15 mins to come back and ask us what we were even drinking. When we finally had given up on trying to get more dipping sauces we decided to just leave. We waited an additional 20 Mins before she would even bring us our check. What should have been a 30−45Min lunch took us 2 hours total. Customer service has fallen off the face of the earth with this place, and there are way better out there. I would suggest going to Chilis. I don’t expect this place to be in business much longer, because this unfortunately has been a growing trend with them. It started going down hill in December when i left my last review, and its only getting worse.

Used to frequent Cheddars last year but have found more interesting places to go to eat in the Asheville area. Went there today for the chicken sandwich I always used to get only to find they have changed the menu. As usual service was slow and I had to listen to the server complaining about having to work two jobs when he finally showed up. Ordered the Cheddar’s Club and boy oh boy was I disappointed. I ordered it with southern style green beans. First of all it was served like a regular sandwich and not like a club. I did not want a regular sandwich or I would have ordered one. Next the turkey was obviously processed prepackaged meat as was the ham. It was served on toasted white bread. Tasted like something I could have made at home after a quick trip to the convenience store. The green beans were fresh out of a can and tasted like oil. My wife ordered a chicken ceasar salad with pasta in it, which she said was not good either. Why would you add heavy duty carbs to salad? All in all the new menu is poor. I will not be going back.

The food quality was very poor. The grilled chicken penne pasta was cold and lacked any real taste. The broccoli was undercooked and tasted like rubber. The mashed potatoes were also cold and lacked taste. Overall, poor quality. I don’t recommend.

Very dissipointed with everything. First we waited for our drinks for 20 minutes then the food took another hour. Our food was terrable, I got the Philly cheese steak and my wife got the Cajun pasta. Both of our plates tasted like someone had dumped salt all over it. Barely edible. Our waiter was extremely rude not only to us but everyone else sitting in his area. We waited on our check for about 30 minutes(after we were done eating) just sitting there. once we got the check prices were wrong and way over what the menu said. After waiting again for the waiter to come around we told him about the pricing issue. He came back about 15 minutes later saying it was all doubled for some reason. After almost 3 hours of being there with terrible food and rude waiters we finally got to leave and continue on with our day. Worst dining experiance either of us had ever had.

This is not normally the kind of place I like to eat(a chain), but every now and again I am on the losing end of a coin-toss — so I ate here. There are way too many good, independent restaurants in Asheville to come to a chain. I have to say, Cheddar’s was fine — my meal was good. There wasn’t much for me(vegetarian) on the menu, but there was a lunch combo of a baked potato and salad, very reasonable at $ 7. The salad was fresh and the 1,000 dressing was good. The potato was good too. The sweet tea was very good. But, the BEST part was the warm croissants with the honey on top. One came with my salad, but we ordered 3 more — they were SO good — worth a visit here. The inside is clean and very nice — cool décor, and a good place for a family with kids. I loved the high beam ceilings and the gorgeous, huge fishtank. The host was very nice, and our server was nice. Our salads came out in a reasonable amount of time, but the soup and baked potato took a while. But, it wasn’t a big deal. It was a good dining experience — for a chain restaurant. p. s. Plenty of free parking in the lot surrounding the restaurant.

We are never disappointed when we dine here. The interesting décor is better than most chain restaurants. The clientele is fine. Another reviewer is incorrect and rude with the Walmart people remark. I had the grilled chicken pecan salad and it was perfect in my opinion. The chicken pot pie is also good because it actually has chunks of chicken in it — what a concept! Waitstaff is attentive since I down a lot of beverage and it is a pet peeve of mine when I have to stop and wait for a refill. If we come during busy times or not, it’s always the same good food and service.

The name of this place made me think it was a hole in the wall diner with pretty decent food. I was wrong! Everything about this place deserves 5 stars! We were quoted a 15 minute wait on a busy Friday night, but our table was ready in only 5. The restaurant was very tastefully decorated and a fun atmosphere, very unique. My husband and I tried the strawberry iced tea and we’re pleasantly surprised that it didn’t taste like a thick syrup, it was light and refreshing, still sweet though. We ordered the basket of croissant, priced at $ 2.50 for 3. They brought us 4(which I thought was so nice!) and they were divine. Hot, flaky, and a little bit of sweet honey glaze on top made them perfection. I couldn’t decide what to order because the menu was so large and delicious, but finally settled on the club with potato soup. The club was the best I’ve ever had with buttered potato bread, excellent meats, and delicious cheese. The potato soup was creamy and perfect. My husband got nachos and experienced something he had never had before, because when he usually orders nachos it consists of a pile of chips topped only on the top layer which leaves many chips underneath plain and the ones on top soggy. Here he experiences a nacho plate where every single chip had it’s own pile of delicious toppings. Our server was helpful, quick, and a total pro. And did I mention you get a whole lot of bang for your buck? We got 2 entrees, an appetizer, a beer, and a tea for $ 27. For less than $ 30 we got to eat at a nice sit down restaurant and left completely stuffed and with a doggy bag. I can’t wait to go back again!

I am a HUGE fan of Cheddars. The food choices are very wide ranging, so it is a place that can please everyone. From pasta and salads to burgers and chicken, no matter what you get you feel as if it’s their speciality. I have never been let down with the food or the service at this location. The prices are very affordable and you won’t regret it. The only downfall is that sometimes there is a large wait, but that is an indicator of something that is worth waiting for!

Don’t come hungry, because you’ll get that way by the time your food arrives. Here’s a fun game. See if you can still remember what you ordered when the meal arrives at your table.

If you have to go to a chain restaurant(maybe your picky out-of-town grandparents are visiting and want something not too ‘weird,’) Cheddar’s is an all-right choice. I’d certainly recommend it over somewhere like Applebee’s or Chili’s. Note that it is right next to Wal-Mart, so that informs you as to what type of clientele they tend to attract. They do seem to follow the ‘quantity over quality’ rule that governs restaurants like Maggiano’s and the Cheesecake Factory. The entrees are enormous, and the waitstaff bring drink refills seemingly every time you look up. You could easily eat thousands of calories worth of onion rings before your entrée even arrives. Unfortunately, the vegetables and ingredients don’t seem to be of very good quality, even if they are fresh. However, the restaurant does always seem to be very clean and run by attentive staff.

I don’t visit a ton of chain restaurants given that there are so many small, local business I like to try. But when I’m in Asheville visiting the fam, I can’t help dropping in for some fish tacos at Cheddar’s. It’s ideally located(next to Petco and Kohl’s) and has a pretty varied selection of food. I can go there with all or some of my family and we can all order something that suites our specific tastes. When there, my dad pretty much always orders the burger, I ALWAYS get the fish tacos and my mom always gets the chicken tenders. We don’t stray much from those dishes because they do them so well. I also love the tortilla soup when it’s cool out. I’ve had just about every side and haven’t been disappointed, but there is just something about tortilla soup. If you find yourself in need of food and don’t want to be bothered with the long lines of some of the local, Asheville hot spots, try Cheddar’s. They’ll take good care of you, and you are sure to find something to satisfy any mood.

This is one of my favorite ‘chain’ restaurants to eat at. The food is extremely affordable and delicious. There is ample seating and parking and I’ve yet to have a negative experience with the serving staff. You must get the chicken pot pie — it is divine!

Have been to this one before and had always gotten really good service in the past. Took waitress 14 minutes to get our drink order. We ordered food at the same time. Different member of the wait staff brought our appetizer. Completely different member of the wait staff brought our food. Had to ask for our waitress to get drink refills. Our glasses had been empty for more than 5 minutes. When she showed up she reeked of cigarette smoke. Guess I know what was more important that taking care of us. Food was OK, but not up to the standard I’ve always had before. Rice was still crunchy and the steak had zero seasoning.
