I’ve only been here once but I have to say it was an overall great experience. I would definitely recommend stoping by to pick up some lunch! Definitely worth it!

This home-y eat-in lunch and catering joint is wonderful. They have a delicious looking assortment of sandwiches and salads. Plus, the deserts look incredible. Today, I got the chicken sandwich on a wheat role with bacon and parmesan spread. For my side, I got the tomato Basil pasta salad and the macaroni salad. I must say I enjoyed all of it. This local Ashland business offers something special! I will certainly be coming back to try more of their delicious food!

If you want great lunch(or dessert), definitely visit Homemades by Suzanne! When I worked in the area, I always ordered there for lunch. The roast beef cross ain’t and the chicken salad are my favorites. But the true food winner is the brownies! Once you try it, you’ll become so addicted. The only downside is they have a ridiculous line and it’s hard to eat in because it’s so small(and packed)! It would be amazing if they had longer hours.

Passed by this lovely place while on a long bike trip. The people were very friendly. The prices were great. I had a chicken salad sandwich and some pasta salad, these were adequate, no better. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things. I also had some peanut butter pie that was excellent. The lime juice was tasty as well. No complaints, but my food wasn’t as good as I had expected given the great Unilocal reviews.

Wow! Unilocal scores again. Found this lovely lunch place. Great homemade bread and quiches. My husband had the roast beef and cheddar on homemade wheat roll. I chose the crab quiche which was a generous piece for quiche. They have about 8 different ones to choose from. Great sides. I had the fruit salad and he had the pasta salad. Delicious! Ashland is such a quaint town and we wish we had more time to explore. Very friendly people and worth the stop. Be sure to go and enjoy the town. Their motto is. Center of the Universe! We will stop again and have lunch when we are traveling on 95.

Great little café. How can it get better than a country ham club, deviled eggs, pineapple upside down cake, and bread pudding. Don’t know if these folks are southern but if not they sure can fake it.

Really good food here and a great local feel. The only down fall is that it takes forever. But it is much worth the wait.

NOTE: IT’S AT102NORTHRAILROADAVE, NOTSOUTH!!!(I got lost and had to call them)…right next door to the Ashland Coffee & Tea Co. Delicious food and friendly staff…5 stars. Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because very small portions. I mean, the $ 6.95 sandwich is about a 3 inch square. It’s like a dinner roll. Homemade fresh out of the oven roll, delicious. But a man could easily eat 2! Has the black forest ham on a roll, with a side of deviled eggs(3 halves). Took home 2 extremely large sugar cookies for the kids which were $ 1.45 each. I’ll definitely go back. It’s all about the quality, not quantity.

I’ve been going to Homemades By Suzanne for years. The food is superb, the people there are so nice and such hard workers. There is a reason they have been in business for as long as they have. And that’s because it is good quality food and great service!

I used to work here during high school and, almost 15 years later, it’s still my favorite place to eat. When I come home from out of state, it’s at the top of the list of places to visit.

Can’t say enough about the quality of the food and how quaint the restaurant is. The Hanover Club was delicious and filling per my husband and my daughter thought her crab cake and fresh roll were delicious. I had a large ripe tomato stuffed with chicken salad and it was huge and filling… plus delish! Deserts were INCREDIBLE! Will definitely go back!

I came here with a co-worker recently and was pleased with the food. The food is what you would find if you go to your favorite auntie’s house who can throw down in the kitchen. I ordered a turkey sandwich with swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato, potato salad, and a blondie. The turkey sandwich was good and they prepared it to my liking. The potato salad was just ok. I think it’s because I like my potato salad to be a bit more mayonnaise-y instead of mustard-y. The blondie was good and hit the spot. I would definitely order this meal again. It can get quite busy around lunch time though and sometimes there is a line that runs around the corner and close to the entrance, but don’t let that deter you. The line moves quickly. The food is reasonably priced too. I would give this place 5 stars, if they were open longer, but I can’t. However, I will continue to have this place on my list of places to go to for lunch.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for Homemade by Suzanne’s! My family and I have been going here for YEARS. It’s a cute little lunch place right by the train station in the heart of Ashland. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve gotten there. My go-to is their chicken salad on wheat. The insides of the sandwich tend to spill out the sides and the bread seems smaller than it actually is – I’m definitely satisfied by the end. You also get to pick your side, but since they introduced them, their homemade sea salt and black pepper potato chips are my go to! My mom and husband always get a slice of the quiche(it’s ¼ of the pie plate), and my mom loves their succotash salad while my husband is a sucker for their deviled eggs. I always have a cup of the strawberry lemonade and a cup of limeade before I leave, and if they still have them, the Key Lime Cookie always accompanies me home. The price is fair — probably close to along the lines you might pay at Panera, but you’re supporting local business(always a plus in my book). Just a couple things to note. It’s going to be a little slow getting their food. I’ve never EVER had someone behind the counter that worked in a way I would describe«efficiently» or «quickly», and because of this there is generally a line. We generally have one person grab a seat while the rest of order for them because there’s no telling if there will be an open table by the time you’re done ordering, getting your food, and paying. And, if it’s out, it’s out. They don’t make more that day, so get there early if you have a hankering for something specific and popular(usually the special is gone before I get there as well as one of the quiches). Again, it doesn’t deter us, but we also know not to go when we’re in a hurry or picky! Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a quaint place to eat in Ashland.

Had time to walk around and this was the place for lunch. Very fresh food made in front you. We where able to set out front and eat while the train rolled by. DON’T forget the pie. Yummmmmmy

Amazing little café/catering business! Everything I have tried has been delicious, but my favorite is the chicken salad on a homemade white roll. Interesting side salads such as pasta salad or potato salad complete the meal. Fantastic desserts too! The kids love being right beside the railroad tracks.

In a trip to Ashland last week, we were looking for a place to stop over for lunch, and after consulting Unilocal,we found this nugget to be well reviewed. While it seems like Homemade By Suzanne focuses moreso on Catering, and serves lunch as a side, it does it quite well. Everything there seemed home-made to order, and they had a fantastic selection of custom sandwiches, salads, quiches, and desserts. I had the Tuna, and my Fiancée had the Grilled Chicken; my only disappointment was that we went later in the lunch hour, and they were out of the marble rye. That aside, the quality and freshness of the ingredients were readily apparent and in comparison to their quite reasonable cost made this a delightful little hole in the wall to stop in when you may find yourself in Ashland

Fantastic quaint, INEXPENSIVE place. Great homemade white bread rolls. I had a simple crab cake sandwich(lettuce & mayo) on their roll for 7.50. Pretty much the same price as their ham and cheese, but what is truly outstanding is the freshness of the ingredients. That part of Ashland is pretty cute.

I love this place. Everything is homemade and delicious! My favorite lunch place in VA(and I live in MD.) Everything from the breads, and salads to sides and desserts are spectacular. Friendly service. Keep in mind they are only open for lunch, and parking can be a pain, but well worth the hassle!
