Good dive bar with good food. Cheap drinks, breakfast all day – what’s not to like? Sometimes on a rainy day you just want a cheap grilled cheese and tater tots or a BLT. This place has solid diner food, and like I mentioned, cheap strong drinks. No frills, just good.

This place is awesome! From the neon outside to the red barstools inside, it hits the nail on the head! The drinks are strong and delicious! The bartender is super friendly! Yay!

Stopped by for a breakfast. The food was delicious. They serve big portions. You won’t leave being hungry for sure. Good prices. Very nice friendly employees. I definitely recommend this place. I will be back for sure. Lovely place.

Breakfast here might be the best in the area. Have been eating here for 4 – 5 years with a group of friends(3−4−5−6 of us). then all of a sudden we were basically 86’d because we didn’t call ahead to alert the staff of a large number of us(sometimes 8 of us). This was suddenly out of the ordinary because often the number of us did not change except for a few times. This made no sense. the waitress blamed the cook. The cook blamed the waitress. So we have quit going. A couple of the guys went in on their own because the food is quite good and were snubbed. So if I was the owner of this place I would want to know. So maybe they might read this. What is really sad is that the staff have always been fun to tease and banter with then shush. so maybe things will change but in the mean time we have found some other good places to eat that are very glad we show up no matter how many of us there are.

This is one place that you should not«judge the book by the cover». Found this place from a friend. Try the breakfast… You can tell that the locals like this place, good sign, and that they come here for a glass of breakfast and some video poker. TIP: Try the Maddy J. Flake biscuit cut in half. Bottom half with a sausage patty, cheese, and an egg. Then the top half of that biscuit and covered with sausage gravy OMG. Get it with the has browns and you have the ultimate diet platter, kind-a ! When I was there they only had tomato juice for bloody marys. They had the vodca, it worked for me.

I’m not going to knock a local dive bar for catering to locals. As someone just passing through town, I had a so-so experience. The bartender was very welcoming to me even with what seemed to be the regular crowd there. Kudos to her. The food was just okay.

Stay away! Waited over 30 minutes for food that never came. Eventually just got up and walked out. Only 2 hard drinking regulars were in the bar, and cook looked to be busy over the grille, don’t know what he was doing though… Explanation was they just had a «shift change». There was only one cook, so not a lengthy process to swap out places with him I would assume. Kinda run down bar atmosphere with loud 80’s rock playing. Seems there are much better places within an easy walk for food and drinks!

My friend and I stopped here in passing on our way back from the dunes because we love pool. I’m so glad that we came here because it was a very welcoming experience thanks to the locals. There is only one pool table that costs 50 cents per game and a chalk board for sign up. The bar is spacious, pool table equipment is decent and seating is ample. I noticed that they have some great happy hour items between 3pm and 6pm. I can’t remember off the top of my head what they are and they also have daily specials. What really made the experience the best was that the locals were welcoming and we had a blast. It felt like home because of it. They welcomed us, entertained us, gave us tips and even parted us with hugs. I can’t wait to come back!

I arrived during a busy time and never felt like I was being ignored. Food came fast and was delicious. Great price for the amount.

Going to have to lower this due to my wife getting food poisoning there. She was throwing up all night. I was a bit queasy myself, though I have an iron stomach.

I used to eat here multiple times a week, last 3 times I have tried I have had the worst service-or should I say no service and I walked out. Once they said they couldn’t serve me in less than an hour. There were three tables occupied. Wtf? Then second time was busy and I didn’t even get greeted, after twenty minutes I walked out. Today… Zero people in restaurant sat for ten min without even a «hello be right with you»? over it!

Breakfast was delicious! Strongly recommend the country style potatoes and their bacon as well. If you are in a rush, this is not the place for you.

We were looking for a place to eat before sightseeing. This one had good reviews so I checked it out with the fam. Fun friendly atmosphere and it’s a block away from the oregon film museum which was really nice. Anyways, the food was great. Very flavor, and obviously homemade which was soooo nice. I’m glad we stopped in and it will surely be our go to place driving through to cannon beach! Good prices, good portion, family friendly, def check it out!!!

This is a place of pure amazement. Anytime the bartender is working a deep fryer while serving you know its gonna be great. If I lived here I would spend all my money here.

This spot is pretty spectacular! We were driving from Seaview back to Portland and needed a breakfast spot — hopefully with liquor. We read the reviews and decided to stop by. Like some of the other reviews state, it’s a little strange walking into what looks like a dive bar, but I was pleasantly surprised by the diner atmosphere once you’re inside. The only waitress working seemed very familiar with everyone else there, and it was clear we weren’t local but she was very nice to us as well. She definitely wasn’t the best server I’ve ever had but she was very friendly and served us quickly. The food was standard, simple diner food. Omelettes, burgers, grilled cheese, tots, onion rings, etc. Very simple but quite good. They also serve liquor, so we ordered bloody marys. I wasn’t wowed by the drink but it got the job done. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a simple meal and a liquor drink. No complaints about the service. All-in-all a great experience.

Excellent for lunch. If you are near Astoria and don’t want to spend $ 14 per plate, definitely stop in here. They have great specials and portions were just right. My only negative is that service was a little slow(we came after 2pm and they had a shift change right after we arrived). I would definitely come again when in town.

Starving a desperate we came upon this joint. I had my reservations… How could a bar serve decent breakfast? But, like I said… Starving! So I say myself down and prepared for the worst. Service is a little slow, but super friendly. Great historic atmosphere. I got the Matty J biscuits and they were hands down the best biscuits and gravy I’ve ever had. My husband got the burrito, which he said was«very good» high praise from him. Bonus: it had lots of bacon. Give this place a chance, get the biscuits and gravy you won’t be disappointed!

We like to seek out local places when we travel, and I’m glad we came here. The food was really good, and it felt fresh. It’s got a nice atmosphere, and even though it’s more like a bar/grill, they were kid friendly(we were there for lunch). Our group was large(12), and we seemed to overwhelm them a bit, but they kept their cool and delivered some good food. The kids were happy and so were the adults. Scott was our cook and waiter, and was very personable. I like the honest approach and he was fantastic. Prices were great, and this is coming from a cheap — skate. Give it a try!

We were led here by the Unilocal reviews and the historic character of the diner. Such disappointment today, came in at 11:00 ordered our meals and 65 minutes later still no food. We initially got our drinks and then no waitress came and checked back for 45 minutes. We kept hearing her tell others that they were slammed and there would be a long wait. They were NOT slammed, it seemed as though the cook wasn’t able to do his job. Waitress was telling customers they were having issues with potatoes, salads, etc. HUH? Ended up walking out after 65 mins. something we have never done and we are in our mid-50’s. Extreme fail, on both the waitresses mishandling of the situation and the cook who needs to be let go.

Quiet. Old school. Low-key. Uncommonly smooth. From the outside, I never would have guessed how awesome this place is. It’s certainly nothing glamorous, but it’s got just about everything a drinking man could ever ask for; video poker, a pool table, checkered floors, a surprisingly impressive tequila selection, and locals that could catch a great white shark with their teeth. A guy could really kick back and write a Bukowski novel in a dark and seedy place like this. I only drank at this place, so I can’t say much about the food. But the prices appeared to be unbeatably cheap, and it’s definitely on my next-to-try list for Astoria.
