Sorry Clem :( The 45 minute wait for a Nathan’s weiner with cold grocery store toppings was just not worth it. The bun is good, but everything else is pretty weak and can be made in your kitchen in under 2 minutes. Weiner: Nathan’s Cheese: generic shredded Ranch: Hidden Valley Bacon: didn’t even notice it Ultimately, the toast-like bun is the only thing not extremely common.

Here’s my beef with this hot dog place(har har har): It’s a food truck, and therefore customers are likely to be on-the-go, standing, passing by, etc. You need to be able to serve something that can be easily held and eaten out of a paper tray. My bf and I ordered the Chicago(ish) dog. I’m glad they added the«ish» because it’s definitely lacking some quintessential Chicago dog staples(poppy seed bun, sport peppers, neon relish). It was a very small dog with a whole pickle spear, 2 giant quarters of a tomato, 2 whole banana peppers and about a gallon of mustard served on a crumbly toast bun. I sound pretty harsh, I know, but honestly we were let down. This was not easy to eat; in fact a whole piece of tomato fell right off onto the ground. I give it 3 stars instead of 2 because the people are nice, it tasted pretty good and it’s located in a BYOB food court off Barton Springs. I guess since there are tables I could have technically sat down and used a fork to eat it. But c’mon, it’s a hot dog.

I just shamelessly devoured the Seattleish veggie dog(cream cheese blended with sriracha, grilled onions, crushed Vickie’s potato chips, on a giant buttery bun made of what? Texas toast y’all. I’m not exaggerating here: Best veggie dog I’ve ever had. I can’t even imagine how good the actual hot dogs are. The Boiled Peanuts are addictive. The fries are perfect. The fried pickles are awesome. The staff is genuinely friendly and the whole trailer just gives off a warm Southern vibe. They set up at some great local bars but also recently opened a trailer off of Barton Springs and S. Lamar at a food trailer park called Jessie Street Eats. A really fun place to chill. The prices are beyond reasonable for the amount and quality of the food you get. I’m smitten.

So I’m having drinks with some friends at The Brixton, when this hotdog cart starts setting up. I’m not expecting much, but it’s late and I’m hungry, so I swagger over and order one. A few minutes later, the guy hands me this drool-worthy dog with a buttery Texas toast bun, jalapenos, spicy mustard, and some other toppings that I didn’t get a chance to notice because I was too busy inhaling the damn thing. So. Friggin’. Delicious. Of course, all of my friends immediately felt jealous and ordered some for themselves as well. There’s no question that these dogs are to die for. Super tasty, fresh, hot, and did I mention tasty? My only complaint would be lack of variety, but that probably has more to do with the fact that this was just their tiny mobile cart that they set up at a few different bars on East 6th. From what I hear, their full trailer on Barton Springs has a much bigger selection.

Fried jalapeños! So simple and so good. The boiled peanuts aka«vegan crawfish» were amazing as well. You bite into the shell and suck out the Cajun marinated juices then gulp down the spicy peanut, extremely addicting. Oh and I wouldn’t kick my grilled kraut and japs on a toasted lobster roll dog out of bed either.

Slap yo man in the face delicious … Thank you for taking an old classic and making into something fantastic. It was a little party of flavor exploding in my mouth. I don’t even know where to start with this yummy hot diggity dog. Toasted bun… check, homemade hot mustard… check, perfect size winnie(and yes that matters)…check… FREETOPPINGS, check… bottom line this place is amazing… the guys running it… quirky fellows and unless they have two locations the address is wrong… cause I found them on south Lamar near Red’s Porch… which is another place I enjoy… I really am enjoying all the new food trailers around town, and I am putting clem’s in my top 3 picks .I LOVEHOTDOGS, so thank these guys for doing it right…

The Hot Dogs are delish. They are served on a fabulous bun that is very similar to Texas Toast. I ate 3 while I was at Crow Bar, WTF(in a good way)?!

Eat this guy’s weiners. Plain and simple. Dude is friendly and the buns are delicious. Also, If you’re real nice and on a diet, He’ll serve you one without the bun. He’s cool like that. these dogs are delicious. Period. I recommend«The Texican». Also, on a side note, I read this quote today. «I can’t afford to play these these Austin Slacker Trailer Games anymore.» I say to you, GOBACKTOCALIFORNIA!!!

I emailed Clem’s and facebooked them in various ways asking if I could buy some hot dog buns to make lobster rolls for a birthday present and told him/them/whoever that I would happily buy some hot dogs as well. I never received an answer to any of three requests. Therefore Clem’s will never get any of my business and a bad review based solely on their lack of customer service. A simple«No» reply would have been more preferable than no answer at all. There’s no excuse for having a social networking presence and then ignoring your customers.

Badass hotdogs with all kinds of condiments. Great home made buns. They have a real biscuity buttery flavor. Cooking is an art and this guy is an artist. I saw him in his food cart at Crow Bar in 78704.

I tried my first Clem Dog at the Crow Bar last night… AWESOME ! His cart is at the Crow Bar on South Congress every Monday and Tuesday by the outside bar. The homemade bun done up Texas Toast style was incredible and the all beef dog was great and of course grilled onions. I highly reccomend getting one or two whenever possible.

Whose idea was it to put an all-beef hot dog on a buttered grilled lobster roll? What scientific method is used to so perfectly grill the onions? These guys deserve a Nobel Prize in Hot Dog. One of the nicest things is that there are no bells and whistles with these dogs. There are a lot of great hot dogs in Austin, but sometimes a gal just wants a perfect dog without having to jump through a gourmet hoop. The spicy boiled peanuts are also delicious, and I’m skeptical of anything with«boiled» in its name. They recently moved from next to my favorite East Austin bar to their current South Lamar location. Normally, this kind of change-up would mean I never saw a food truck again, but I’m willing to follow these guys to the ends of the earth. Well, maybe just like Pfluegerville or San Marcos or whatever.

I could eat here every day, seriously… open one up in my drive way please. I’m reminded of when Marge Simpson asks the hot dog vendor, «what do you just follow my husband around» and he responds with; «Lady, he’s putting my kids through college».

Best Dog I’ve had in Texas. 1. The weiner itself is good enough. Although, if they had an additional version with a jumbo size dog or polish, I’d be all over it like Charlie Sheen on a mountain of snow. 2. Grilled onions and spicy hot mustard. The grilled onions are nice touch. The spicy hot mustard is amazing. It’s one of the standout features that makes Clem’s weiners rise above the others. 3. They use lobster rolls. Buttered and toasted lobster rolls. It has that taste the reminds me of a grilled cheese sandwich and it’s awesome. With foods like this, the bread can make or break it. The lobster roll totally makes this dog a winner. This is what consuming the body of Jesus should taste like.

Sweet mother of god — that’s a damn fine dog! Buttery Texas-sized bread with a weenie… need I say more? I curse my doctor for telling me I need to watch my cholesterol. I’ll have to monitor my Hot Diggity Dog intake, but I would rather die happy than live to 150 without another of Clem’s yummy weenies.

I was stumbling home drunk down e. 6th(again) and tripped over a fire hydrant that wasn’t even in the ground… there was this huge pile of them… I have no idea why, but as I was getting up brushing off the dirt and blood I heard a cry off in the distance. «Dont’ be a meanie, buy a weenie!» I was confused and slobbering on myself but I followed the sound and it led me to Clem’s Hot Diggity Dogs. THEBUNS!!! They are incredible, the shape, the butter, they are grilled! It was cold that night and I wish their buns were as big as sleeping bags so I could have crawled inside of one and rolled around in the hot buttered bread. Anyway, I smelled them, licked them a little bit, and decided I’d buy 2 of them. The Brutes that own the joint make their own hot mustard from scratch apparently, and it was good, it burned my eyes a little bit when I rubbed it all over my forehead, but other than that it was perfect. Do yourself a favor and get jalapenos(GRILLED) and onions(GRILLED) and add the hot mustard and some cheese. I stumbled in, but I had to call my friend who lives down the street to come pick me up in his wheelbarrow when I finished off 3 of these dogs… Yeah, I had a 3rd one.
