My spinach salad with chicken, bacon, avocado & vinaigrette dressing had no flavor. They filled our big kids’ milk cups half way and charged full price and my cup of tortilla soup was half full. Service was very slow. Sounds like they are cutting corners and it shows. Bad quality all around.

Upon moving to Austin, everybody told me I had to try Galaxy… I’ve been to two locations now, and have been beyond underwhelmed by both experiences.
The food is bland, poorly prepared, and crazy overpriced. When mentioned to the manager that they may want to talk to their cook about under seasoning a dish, she actually told us they don’t season it on purpose. (And looked at us like we were stupid and hassling her to even mention it)
The ambiance at this particular location feels more like that of a jazz bar than a breakfast/​lunch spot.
And the service… lazy, unenthusiastic, inattentive. Not rude necessarily, but basically the same attitude you’d get from a friend who’s mom made them invite you to their birthday party. Forced hospitality.
I love local… but I won’t waste time or money here again.

Waaaay overpriced and mediocre food. I had the Brie and smoked turkey sandwich. It had apricot jam in the description, in reality it was a small, thin smear that ran down the middle of the sandwich, so little that I couldn’t even taste it. The fries were underdone and your standard frozen variety. DH had the Brie burger the patty was charred to death, and again was the standard variety that is purchased frozen. He had the kettle chips which were dumped from a bag.
The place is also very noisy. Couldn’t wait to leave.
Next time we’ll go next door to subway to get fresher cheaper anymore filling food.

Still great food, but made less accessible parking-​wise now that Madam Mam is nearby.

Love the place! I usually get the French toast, which is amazing but I tried the lumber jack wrap and it was delicious! Everything you order from here is always good. Staff is sweet and service is fast! I love that a manager is always on the floor making sure everybody us happy with they’re meals. That’s good service!

Nice atmosphere and staff. We were here for breakfast and got two wraps and their iced coffee from concentrate as the cashier suggested it was delicious. This is pay first, get a number and wait type of the restaurant. Iced coffee came out first and they were, unfortunately, really bad. Worst coffee to start your day off with. Wraps were okay, they were average good. Portion was huge, you’d be so full after you finished the whole thing. A friendly guy who seemed to be manager walked around the hall making sure to ask customers if they’re satisfied with everything and refilled the drinks. It wasn’t a bad experience overall, but I’m doubtful if I’ll return again.

Great service and the big breakfast plate is deliciously big! Their potatoes are bomb!

Galaxy Café is great as long as you go in knowing that you’re ordering a slight step above normal diner food. I’ve been disappointed in the past, but now I get it. The décor here is pretty nice. The dim lights make for a good place to have some tea and converse with friends.
I snagged the skirt steak with chimichurri. I asked for it medium rare. Knowing that they’re generally thinner cuts, I didn’t expect much red. I love hanger and know how to get my cuts perfectly cooked. This one was a bit overdone, but there was more red than expected. I got a side of… I honestly don’t remember. Maybe they were fries. However I do remember the chicken tortilla soup. Loved it! Oh wait! Mac and cheese was my side. It was great too!
Galaxy is also a great place to take your kids. It’s a very family friendly environment.

This place rocks! Very consistent service and good food every-​time I come back here! Nice choice of vegetarian options! I recommend this place of a quick lunch or a pleasant hang out for a snack or dinner!

On my quest to find all the great burgers in Austin, I am loving Galaxy café! Really relaxed experience with fresh food and friendly service ! I had a burger with bacon sans bun, and it was full of flavor and the bacon was think and juicy! So many healthy options on the menu too!

I like to work from here. They are very nice. There’s outlets by the windows. :) I got some a la carte items and the sausage patties were good. Coffee is a little weak for my taste but I do like my dark roast.
The whipped sweet potatoes is really good!
Wi-​fi is good enough. Ample parking.

Love this place! Hipster vibe, consistently good food, friendly staff, and a free refill on iced coffee! Yes, you read right. Buy an iced coffee and it comes with a free refill! They will even put it in a to go cup for you… and it’s the best iced coffee in way south Austin that I have found too. Breakfast menu is until 4 on the weekends which is great for brunch… and yes, they serve alcohol.

I used to really like this place but it has gone downhill. It seems to have gone the way of bland, mostly pre made fast food. I had the migas burrito today which really had no flavor except for a pre cooked reheated taste and the flour tortilla tasted like the plastic bag it was in when they bought it. The only upside was the coffee was decent and they offer Maine Root sodas in the machine.

This place didn’t disappoint at all. I ordered the French Toast this past Sunday and it was amazing. Tie that with a side of eggs, sausage, and a Mimosa pitcher to share, and you’ll end up leaving extremely satisfied. I’d recommend if you happen to be in the area. I’m eager to try out some of their dinner items the next time we go.

My date suggested Maudie’s or Galaxy Café for dinner bc we were hanging out in South Austin. When offered, I always choose Maudie’s. However,
recently ran an article, «YOU’RE NOT READY FOR AUSTIN’S 10 BEST MAC AND CHEESE PLATES» and Galaxy Café made the list. So… I had to try this list-​worthy mac & cheese.
The place is kinda cool inside, with individual menus stacked in frames on a wall, making it less fast-​food-​like. We ordered our food at the counter, took a number, dispensed our drinks, grabbed a nice table with cushy seats and waited a few minutes for our food. The service was pretty quick & the décor is kinda fun.
He ordered some kind of salad. He liked it. I ordered the veggie burger & mac & cheese. I have to admit, I was very disappointed with the mac & cheese. It was runny, not very warm & kind of blah. I expected fabulous. It was no more than average. However, the veggie burger was delicious! I would have to say it’s definitely one of the top 10 veggie burgers in Austin, but the mac & cheese is not. My date teased me because I ate my veggie burger so slow, savoring every bite. I didn’t even finish the mac & cheese.
I’ll definitely be back for the veggie burger & I’ll try the mac & cheese one more time. Maybe it was just an off night.

Great food! Our order came out super fast and prepared exactly as all five of us had ordered. Each server was polite, helpful and observant. We came right after church and were lucky to get in as quickly as we did! :)) Thank you Galaxy! !

Soup size deceptively small!
They have large bowls, but my mexican lime came less than half full. The waitress said they just have «big bowls» and they only fill it two cups. Fine, but the Mexican lime is mostly broth, so it makes for a paltry dish.

We love to support local businesses. In fact, we went to Galaxy instead of going to a franchise. But alas, Austin let us down again. Third time at this neighborhood café and we always experience a non caring attitude. Business that don’t care about our business won’t get our repeat business.

I have been frequenting this galaxy café since high-​school. Ideal for lunch with its upscale décor, quick service and counter payment, and healthy food options. Despite having moved further into north Austin, I will still make a stop in whenever I come south. My new favorite is the turkey burger royale but I also recommend the meatloaf, mac and cheese, soup options, and you can’t go wrong with sweet potato fries.

They are consistently yummy and I’m only finding new items that are becoming my favorites.
My added favorite dishes:
Mexican Breakfast. The tortillas are perfect in it. Perfect blend of texture and taste. It can be spicey, but it’s still awesome. Only place I like any version of ‘migas’. Yep, the ONLY place I like this.
We now get a ½ order of the French Toast, so we can have bites, but also get our favorite breakfast foods.
The English Breakfast tea and French Press coffee are still my favorite drinks here.
