Pita bread is not included like the original place, rude! Really nice people that work here and make sure you ask for extra sauce if you are taking it to go because they don’t put it in there for you. Always get the combination(gyro and chicken) over rice. Nice flavors, nice portions!

Came here the day after Halloween and waited thirty minutes for it to open with the promise of amazeballsness that will blow my mind. Definitely did. Their taste, their speed, and their customer service was great(I was the wimp who didn’t want it too spicy). I’m jealous. Back in my days in Kinsolving, we didn’t have as many options and was stuck with waking up early to eat in the dining hall after being hungover. Maybe it’s because I’m part Greek or maybe their lamb was perfect but I was moved to tears. Took some back home with me. Leftovers didn’t make it past an hour upon my arrival. Definitely recommend for you college kiddos.

One of my favorite places to stop at when I’m in Austin! My go to order is the lamb over rice with extra white sauce. This isn’t like Halal Guys in NYC, but it sure does come close to it.

This place sets the benchmark for halal food at a reasonable price in Austin. Reminds me of halal guys i tried in New York City across from Radio city music hall. Very tasty meat and rice, they use the white sauce and red sauce just like they do it in new york, and the pita bread is on point, ps … dont waste your time on vertzkabap, that place is crap imatation persian food that is missing the correct seasoning and preparation.

This is the next best thing to the Halal guys that I have found in New York off of 53rd and Avenue of the Americas. Service is great and food is delicious! Limited parking up front, but more to found in the back. We had the gyro over rice and the combination plate. Both were full of protein and just enough salad on the side. The hummus was so creamy with bits of chick peas and topped with olive oil and a hint of lemon and served with fresh warm naan bread! This is definitely a stop of mine when in Austin — NOMATTERWHAT!

I think the pictures justify everything. Food poisoning and high levels of toxic in the liver from doctors diagnosis. This was the only place I ate at that day. What a great way to start the holidays with vomiting, excruciating stomach pain/cramps…etc and going to urgent care at 3AM. PTSD from ever thinking, looking, smelling the combination plate.

Really good food, huge portions, and relatively cheap. Limited parking so you’re most likely going to have to look for metered parking nearby. Tried the lamb kebabs, the lamb shawarma, combination plate, and beef shawarma. All the meats were perfectly seasoned. Love the balance of the white sauce and heat from the chili paste. Would prefer my kebabs grilled to medium rare instead of medium, but no complaints otherwise.

Two words. Amazing food. No parking, but burger king next to it is closed and can be used as free parking. Chicken Shawarma over rice, Tabouleh, Hummus, fully loaded fries, Falafel, Must have.

I’ve never been in the restaurant. but I knew someone who loved this place and she would always bring it over. I liked the combo thing which is lamb and chicken with cucumber sauce over lettuce and tomato and a ton of basmati rice.

I visited NYC last month and came to visit Austin this past weekend. I was lured here because of the comparison between Halal Guys and Halal Bros. My friend that I was traveling with really enjoyed Halal Guys and we needed a quick bite before heading to the airport, therefore we stumbled upon this place. The parking here is only like 3 spots, luckily there was a building(looks like a Burger King?) being remodeled so there’s plenty of parking spaces next door. We ordered the combination of beef and chicken($ 7.25). This was a 25 cent difference than the food cart in New York. The food was quick to finish and we got extra white sauce and red sauce. The red sauce is more like a chili paste and was not as hot as Halal Guys. The rice here is yellow while the Halal guys is orange. I enjoyed the lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers(?) that came on the side of the rice and meat. The size isn’t as big but it was good enough to fill the 2 of us. Cheap, quick and decent food!

Halal bros is good but it just doesn’t compare to Halal guys in NY. The chicken over rice seems to be a bit lacking in flavor and isn’t as rich or spicy. With that said, however, it’s still probably the best you’ll get in Austin. I thought their falafels were really good. When you buy it as a side, it comes with lettuce and hummus along with your white and red sauce. The hummus is delicious and will be something that I’ll definitely get every time I visit. As for the store itself, there’s very limited parking in the front, however, there’s an empty Burger King next door with a ton of spaces.

Halal Bros is reallllly great Mediterranean food, and I am thankful to have been introduced to them! I get their falafel on rice dish. Their falafel is fresh and flavorful, and the rice is seasoned beautifully! I also really love the sauces they drizzle on the dish, particularly the red pepper sauce — nice and spicy! I have also had their hummus, which I love. It’s smooth, rich, and 10000% better than that store bought sabra stuff. It’d be cool if they could work on their fly situation. When I went in the summer, I remember being assaulted by flies, probably because they leave the door open.

Halal bros is good. Because I have never had it in New York, I cannot compare them with one another. Their prices are really inexpensive and is obviously a very popular spot for broke college students. We went in the middle of the lunch rush, so there was a long line. My boyfriend and I ordered two combination(gyro&chicken over rice). The wait time was okay, considering the long line. My friend was a lot more lucky than us because his was a freshly cooked batch of meat, instead of just sitting on the grill on the back. Overall, i will be coming back if I visit again. Halal bros is also further down on the Drag! Definitely worth the walk

FINALLY got to try this place for the first time. Place was packed. UT people filled up the place. I mean it’s literally right across from campus. Some people be walkin late at night for some halal food. Look. If you know me, you know that Middle East and Mediterranean foods are my all time comfort foods. And Halal Bros got me excited to try their lamb over rice. I wish I would explain my thoughts in emoji form. Cause it would just make things so much easier. I’d make a little equation. Something plus something equals something. Ya feel? C’mon Unilocal, get with the program. But hey, for now I’m a happy camper.

On a recent trip to Austin, I asked friends for food recs outside of BBQ because I was sooo over BBQ after the 2nd day. A friend recommended this gem and it was one of my favorite places to eat in Austin! PROS: — Cheap, inexpensive(~$ 8 for a combination plate over rice) — Conveniently located(walking distance from UT campus and parking spots out front and to the side) — Super friendly service To be fair, I haven’t tried the OG cart in New York for comparison, but I have to say, Halal Bros was delicious! The rice is soft, the sauce is creamy yet spicy, and there’s a nice little salad to cut the richness. I don’t eat lamb because I mentally can’t get over the thought of it, so I was afraid to get the combination plate. But they said that they actually don’t serve lamb at the establishment! Yay for me! Sorry for some of you. :(He says that although it has the taste and consistency of lamb, it’s actually beef!(I’m going trust you, sir. LOL) TL;DR: Cheap $ 8 combination beef and chicken over rice.

This place is a poor college student’s dream come true. The food comes in huge portions for relatively cheap prices. To be honest, I’ve ever only gotten one thing: the combination over rice. I think it’s the lamb and chicken combination. Either way, it’s a great mix of flavors. The spices in the meat are awesome, and my favorite is the fresh component of cucumbers and tomatoes. My only complaint is as a whole, the dish is really salty for taste. I love spices and flavors, but I always drink a LOT of water with my meal and feel bloated. I can’t say much about the environment. It’s not a place I ever hangout at; I usually just get food to-go. Service is relatively fast, but beware that it can get pretty busy during weekends and general meal times. I usually go earlier than my meal and take it home, then eat it whenever.

I came here excited because I’ve heard so much about this place. I am a little bit disappointed because of the lack of consistency in their food. My best friend and I ordered: –Lamb over rice: My rice and spices were on point. What really made me upset, was the crunchy pieces of overcooked lamb that I found in my meal. Some pieces were burnt and it hurt my mouth eating it. I understand that they usually don’t cook the lamb so burnt. Hopefully, I can change my perception about this place the next time I come through.

They’ve expanded their restaurant since I’ve been last time, and its definitely a welcomed change. The mix platter with chicken and lamb is delicious. They don’t go crazy with the spice and seasoning, its comfortable and nicely balanced. The wait time can be pretty long, this place attracts a diverse crowd at all hours of the day, so expect a bit of a wait. Comparable to the original halal cart from NYC.

The first and, up until now, only times I have had halal was in New York at the Halal Guys across the street from the MOMA. I fell in love with this delicious mix of rice and gyro with the creamy white sauce and spicy red sauce. In NYC, $ 6 will get you a really large container of lamb halal over rice, served with salad and a warm pita. It’s one of the best meal deals in the city. I was sad that I couldn’t find it available in Austin. Enter the Halal Bros. delicious halal. The prices are only slightly higher, but it is served from a brick and mortar establishment instead of a food truck. The taste takes me back to my days in NYC. The portions were generous. More than I could finish. The people were friendly, even though the place was packed and the crowd of mostly UT students(I assume, based on the number of Longhorn shirts) was a little impatient waiting for their orders. The downside is the lack of parking. Even with the empty lot next door, I had to circle a few times to find a spot. The portions, though large, could use a little more meat. Overall, I would happily come back for another taste of NYC.

Halal Bros is very small and cramped inside, and there isn’t much parking at the front. However, the restaurant is perfect for take-out! I had the combination(lamb and chicken) over double rice, and it was awesome! The chicken and lamb were well seasoned and tasted amazing. The basmati rice was very light and fluffy. It also came with a good amount of vegetables(tomatoes and lettuce). Both the red and white sauces were perfect together with the rest of the plate. The portion was actually very generous for the relatively low price. Overall, I had a great experience with the amazing food, and I will be back soon!
