One of the best places to eat on campus. I’ve been many times and this place has yet to fail.

I’ve been coming to these guys for years, when I’d get out of Lovejoys late and need a bite. Stopping by because I needed a bite turned into a regular highlight of the night that I look forward to whenever I go downtown. I highly suggest the $ 7 lamb and rice plate. If you are like me and can’t take the heat, make sure you tell them red sauce on the side or not at all. This is a much better option for an alcohol filled stomach than those greasy wurst places outside of the bars.

Lamb and falafel wrap… Super delicious. Super filling. Very cheap… Not the easiest food to walk and eat… That being said, I’ll be walking myself around sixth street while eating this wrap and picking off pieces of rice off my shirt as a snack later.

This is no halal guys but it’s still yummy. For $ 6.50, it was a pretty good portion of chicken and rice. What make halal guys of New York amazing is the sauce. The sauce here is not as good, but it’s still a pretty good substitute for halal guys or if you just want chicken/gyro and rice. Highly recommend this place if you want decent food to eat after a long night at 6th street.

I was surprised at how good this was. Especially considering the location. A friend brought me here who had some nostalgic affection for them from his graduate school days. I can see why. I’ve been here a few times now and the two guys running the place are nice and always have big smiles on their faces(maybe because I great them with«Hey habibi»). They give you a good deal of food for the price(a rarity it seems these days) and they serve it up fast too. I’ve tried both the chicken and lamb over rice and prefer the chicken. *You can ask for extra hot sauce if desired and they will happily accommodate. Is this the best Halal food stand ever? No, this isn’t NYC. However, in a town sorely lacking in this type of food, Halal Bros is great.

WARNING! A night of drunken debauchery may lead to an empty stomach, resulting in depleted energy, and a bad case of the hangries. Forget that Snickers bar. Head over to Halal Bros, get a chicken and lamb combo plate with extra sauces and call me in the morning. Fortunately, there were only a few people in line in front of us. A chat with a local tells us that this is not usual and that the lines can get crazy. For $ 7 a plate, you get a nice pile of rice topped with tender chicken and lamb chunks, white and red(hot) sauce drizzled on top, and a side salad. Mix it all up and consume. Everything is well seasoned and delicious. The side salad gave a nice freshness that went well with the richness of the rest of the dish. I’m not sure if it was because of the cold weather, or the night of drinking, but I felt like I could eat this dish all day/everyday. It was that good.

Maybe it was the energy in the air downtown. Maybe it was because I had a double whiskey sour and a double long island iced tea and was riding the wave of inhibition. I’m not sure what it was that made me stop at the Halal Bros stand and get a lamb chicken combo but I’m certainly glad that I did. The guy in the truck was very nice, helpful, and a bit flirty. He made my combo quick though, so that I could go along my way. Once I got home, my husband and I split the plate, which was amazing. The meat was tender and flavorful, as was the abundance of rice. The salad was fresh and delightful — which I wouldn’t expect from a food truck. And that white sauce? A decadent punch of creamy delightfulness that brought it all together. I definitely would love to visit their brick and mortar at some point and try some different things — this was so good! Four stars, with a possible five on my next visit!

I love this place. I have come here multiple times in a week whenever I’m in town. They need to open locations in California since there isn’t any halal like this. The flavor and food is superb. I have recommended this place to all of my friends. The sauce is great. Make sure you get the lemonade as well. Must visit!

This place is not comparable to the original halal guys in New York… at all. It is good for what it is though. I would come here again because it is the best halal plate in Austin, but I would caution to come early as they run out of food ridiculously early on the weekends(downtown location)

Great place to eat. They used to be small but have recently expanded the place. They have outside seating now and are opening up 2 new more places in North Austin:):):) Amazing food and great portions. We ordered the kota kabab, beef kabab and chicken wrap with fries. Make sure you get the white sauce, yum! Definitely going back: D

Really great food for a really good price. There are plenty of late night options after some 6th street debauchery and The Halal Bros truck is one of the best. A simply lamb wrap is $ 5 and it is the perfect amount of food and extremely delicious.

Halal Bros is my favorite place to drunk eat in Austin. Period. If you even think about eating Roppolo’s Pizza over a Lamb Gyro from Halal Bros, then you’re insane. Or probably super drunk. The lamb and falafel are deliciously seasoned, the pita is soft, and the white sauce is heaven. The wraps are only $ 5 and they can churn out one of these delicious sammies in a few min. They are the definition of delicious street meat.

I LOVE this place! So far I have just tried lamb gyro and lamb over rice. The lamb gyro is perfect. I love the customer service, quantity, price and the fact that it’s so close to UT. I’m so happy to find out about this place, will be going there often.

The food is pretty good for being from a food truck. I usually pay them a visit when I get a chance to go to Austin. The service is fast so the wait is not very long. My favorite is the lamb over rice. They have to go containers so be sure to grab a lid if you want to save it for a late night snack. You’ll probably need it if you’re not very hungry as the portions are a pretty good size.

Achtung, babies! There’s a fresh set of sheriffs in town slinging a new-to-Austin genre of street meat and their name is The Halal Guys. Like the famed Halal Cart in Manhattan, these guys also hail from NYC(via Palestine). I swear — if I now go more than a week without getting my Halal Guys fix, I turn into… well, someone you don’t want to know. In fact, I was recently turned away from my favorite food truck(these guys) as I showed up a bit too early a few nights ago, forcing me to ‘settle’ for Kebabalicious. I believe this is a phenomenon some call #firstworldproblems? Well, that won’t be happening ever again. I asked the men of Halal what their official hours are(they don’t have a website) and I’ve added them to their business page. Oh, and here’s some savory scoop for you: They’ll soon be opening a storefront in addition to their cart! This means we can all look forward to avoiding the drunken tomfoolery one must endure to get some of that luscious lamb over rice. Ah yes, the lamb over rice! For $ 6, you get a deep dish(two meals worth) of buttery rice topped with so many chunks of lamb, that the rice looks kind of lonely in there. And then, just when you thought that the dish couldn’t get any better — they go and add a generous drizzle of creamy white sauce and hot red sauce! Some people like to ask for extra, but I’m good with the liberal dousing they provide… and anyway, I like to savor the taste of the succulent lamb. Oops — is that drool I see on my laptop’s keyboard? Stay tuned for The Halal Guys’ next project — ’til then, I’ll take my chances with 6th Street’s finest!
