Decided I wanted gelati at about 8:55 pm. My significant other and I set out and arrived at Rita’s around 9:25 pm and the place was closed! Besides that, it was a nice location.

My kids love this place once the weather gets above 60 degrees or so. Heck, I love this place. It’s nice to be able to duck in and grab a quick frozen custard or Italian ice(or a mixture of both, if you want). Service has always been friendly. West Hartford could use more«quick serve» ice cream places like this.

This is the first Rita’s I’ve ever been to, hard to believe I know. But just from that experience I’m not too inclined to go back to this particular location. It is very small. We went on a hot day after biking wanting something cold to cool off. You walk in and it’s like the size of my last apartment’s kitchen. In order for someone to leave everyone has to shuffle and turn. When we arrived there were five people in line and only one girl behind the counter. I felt bad for the people lining up behind us because we were ordering for five ourselves! Maybe other locations are set up better and I’ll like going. The frozen lemonade I ordered WAS tasty so I’ll say that.

Oh Happy Day !!! Rita’s has finally made it over the mountain into the Farmington Valley. It’s not the biggest Rita’s I’ve seen. Not a lot of dining room space, and definitely a smaller flavor selection. But…it’s brand new. It’s owned by the Farmington Rita’s family. The ices are deelish. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and engaging. I had a small cup of Juicy Pear and Chocolate Chocolate Chip and it would be real tough to decide which one I liked best. The Pear was surprisingly terrific– great flavor and not too sweet. And chocolate chocolate chip? Please… it was great. So Riverdale Farms now represents all of the major food groups with pizza(Tower Pizza), sushi(Toshi Izakaya), beer(Lyme Grill), and frozen desserts(Rita’s). Game, set, match !!
