Zingos is Zingos. It’s definitely one of the places left here in Bakersfield with that«old truck stop» charm. The waitresses are hard workers and the food is still tasty. The prices are a little high if you ask me. But the food is good in the place is usually packed.

Wow!!! Very disappointed!!! Why did my kids and myself have to dine on a wet table thru our entire meal… yes we spill the water but shouldn’t someone come clean since they kept walking by the table… And why did we get our tab right after we got our meal. Plus why the waitress didn’t even come check on us and the only time she is after we left the table to make sure we pay the bill.

We were passing through town and decided to try this place based on reviews and ratings. The portions were large, but that’s really the most positive thing about this place. The pancakes and biscuits were ok, as were the eggs, but the hamburger patties were thin and clearly frozen. The chicken fried steak was tough and the gravy was bland. We think the fries were frozen. They were also only ok. We probably won’t stop here again.

The worst experience at 2:30am. we had a group of 7 the food came out at different times. Everyone in the restaurant that came in after us finished and left before we received our food. I wish I was exaggerating. The waitress had poor manners, poor attitude, and just rude. Actually the busser had the best attitude, probably cause he was so hi. What a dump.

Just about my favorite place in Bakersfield. Working-class crowd & down-to-earth, unpretentious environment. Great service, and great food, large portions, reasonably priced. Their Mexican Omelet is the best, huge Cobb salads, great chicken-fried steak.

Zingo’s makes a good breakfast. I was going to temporarily go off my diet and eat some real back home food, so I choose Zingo. Once inside, I came to my senses and ordered the ham and cheese omelet with slice tomatoes and avocado. Those around me though were loading their bodies with«delicious tasting» gravy and«to die for» biscuits(Yummy) along with bacon and sausage. Zingo’s is one of those Bakersfield early day café’s, and still going strong. Truckers /oil field workers /farmers /ranchers. all walks of life eat at Zingos. Service is unique to the Café,(«you-all sit down, Ill be right with ya…»). Ill be back !!

It’s been more than a year since I have visited this diner due to my last opinion of the food I ordered. Among my associates Zingos has always been known for their biscuits and gravy however I did not then nor again today did I find the biscuits and gravy impressive. I was wonderfully surprised by how good their waffles were. While most of their food is pretty mid line truck stop diner food with a few hidden gems. They have a pretty interesting menu compared to most other local places too which is nice. Nothing, however will top their service. Hands down they have the most efficient, friendly and attentive servers I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you’re not sold on trying out the diner for the food at least go to get the experience of the cute home town atmosphere, tables decorated with local businesses, led lit scenes of a variety of 50’s style pictures and some of the best service you’ll ever get when you order a meal or even just a cup of coffee.

When it was recommended to me to have breakfast here I was a little skeptical. It looks like a very old building with a bar attached to it. There is a small patio outside where people were smoking, I did not like walking through the smoke to get to the entrance. The service was great the food was a bit bland. I might give this place another try, maybe find an alternate entrance.

We love this place for what it is. Old Bakersfield. The food is plentiful and very good. Friendly non-pretentious servers who keep your cup full.

Stopped off here after we saw it advertised in our motel magazine. Real old-time atmosphere, down to the ‘how you doin hon’ greeting at the table. Huge.generous portions(at least for this poor Australian), really good deal for the price. I had the Patty Melt(which was Ok), wife had the Soup of the Day which was excellent. Chocolate milkshake was exactly as it should have been. Chocolate lay, thick and straight from the 50’s.

Ordered chicken fried steak with gravy on the side, dish came out smothered in gravy, they took it back and it came back in 3 minutes(hmmmm) with no gravy on top this time with the gravy on the side BUT, what the cook had done was he jus scraped off the gravy and over refried the steak in which when I picked the steak to see the bottom, the steak slid right out onto the plate as if it had a pair of pants on, WHAT A JOKETHISPLACE!!!

ZINGO’S! How we LOVE Zingo’s! It’s one of our favorite places to eat in Bakersfield! We’ve been there several times and have never had a bad experience. The restaurant has been open whenever the sign on the door said it would be. The food is plentiful, fresh and delicious and the waitresses are efficient and personable. The staff keep the coffee and other drinks filled and the soda cups are really large, which is something I appreciate. We love the diner/truck-stop/down-home ambiance, the friendly patrons and the family-friendly atmosphere. We were looking for a restaurant that could be a regular go-to place, somewhere that epitomizes Bakersfield in regards to its down-home character and wonderful people, that has great food and good coffee … and fortunately we’ve found all that at Zingo’s!

We just sat a table for ten minutes waiting for service. The two waitresses were three booths away from us putting their entire focus on one couple. After one waitress went to sit outside and the other decided to help a table that came in after us but sat right next to their focus table, we left. Seeing that we are not valued customers we will be taking our business elsewhere from now on.

I have been frequenting Zingos for quite some time. It has been one of my favorite diners since I’ve lived in the area. The food is typical of what you would find at a local, non-franchise, truck stop diner. All the times I have ever been there, it has been on a seat-yourself basis. The staff is very attentive and will immediately acknowledge you by offering something to drink. The strawberry lemonade($ 2.95) is super delicious topped with real strawberries. You also get a free refill which I always get mine to go. The last time I went the Zingo’s I ordered the chicken fried steak with country style fries and biscuits and gravy. The side orders and easily substitute-able. The steak itself was delicious, smothered in gravy under and over it. The potatoes were a little crispy and over-done(to my taste) but definitely good with some ketchup and Tabasco sauce. Same for the biscuit and gravy, all very enjoyable food. I often think that they serve you extremely generous portions and a very easily shared meal. I would definitely give this place 5 stars, as they are very consistent, attentive, and the price is just right.

Best breakfast in town, fast service and huge portions. Pick up some toilet paper on the way home because you’ll probably spend the remainder of your day on the toilet. Totally worth it.
