I’ve tried their various rolls and Korean dishes and they were wonderful. Especially the chicken teriyaki. It may lack ambience but the owners are super-friendly. Just ask for their recommendation. Then they will ask your preference and prepare your meal.

We’ve lived right down the street from this place for years and never tried it till last week. Like other reviewers have mentioned, I too was afraid to order sushi from a hole in the wall type place. But after hearing good things about them we gave it a whirl. Overall it was really good. Not Matsuri, but really good. The sushi rolls were smaller than we expected and the wasabi looked like it was squirted from a tube. It tasted better than it looked, the wasabi had a decent kick to it! We ordered our sushi to go but had we known it was a BYOB in advance we’d have brought wine with us. The most impressive thing about this place was their smoothie menu. I’d definitely return to try one of those! They sounded delicious!

My boyfriend calls this place«Ma and Pop Sushi» which is the perfect way to describe it. I usually am frightened by small, local looking sushi places that I’ve never heard anything about, so my first time in I was very weary. In the end, I must say that what I ate was just average. Nothing to exclaim about, or complain about. If you are looking for quick sushi that is nearby, it’s a good place. Probably not the best for a date, though.

At first glance, Soho probably looks like a rundown second rate sushi place(the awning out front has much wear and tear). The saying«don’t judge a book by its cover» truly fits this case. Although the inside is very small and has limited seating, there is hardly anyone ever in there although many people seem to do take-out. The husband and wife duo are friendly and fast. I love their sushi dishes. Although I’ve never had any of their Korean BBQ, my mom ordered some and enjoyed it. Do they have the BESTSUSHIEVER? Probably not… but we do live in Baltimore. I would definitely say they have the best sushi in Federal Hill… and fast service and not super busy like the other fed hill sushi joint. I would highly recommend trying it out – you won’t regret it!

I wanted to like this place, but it just has too much going against it. It is a hole in the wall(some might call it cute) that definitely has character, not to mentioned only two dine in tables! PROS: mom and pop operation. I am all about supporting the little guy. Authentic, I assume, though I only got sushi. The couple who run it speak little English and converse amongst themselves in their native tongue. It was clean! You have to walk through kitchen to get to bathroom, and I was pleasantly surprised by cleanliness of kitchen. CONS: sushi just isn’t that good. And IMO super expensive for the size of the rolls.

Best sushi in B’more by far. The only draw back is that this is mostly a take-out joint. I rarely see people sitting down in the restaurant, which is small and only seats about 15 people. But the take out service is quick and the rolls are standard to creative. They also offer some Korean staples.

Actually called Soho Eatery! First impression: hole-in-the wall mom and pop’s sushi place. This place really is a gem. A tiny sushi bar, three small tables, a small fish tank with little tiny fish, and wife & husband. Those two people do everything and never stop improving their menu. If you think you can’t go wrong with your usual philadelphia roll, try their amazing new philadelphia roll. Just order from the SPECIAL sushi menu and you won’t be disappointed!

This is the first restaurant I visited while moving in to the Federal Hill area — while it’s very small and there are hardly ever other patrons actually eating in, it’s friendly and the owners are always welcoming and never make you feel awkward for being there. I do also see a lot of carry-out orders but we haven’t yet taken advantage of it. The rolls are good, all the standard items are there, and any of the specialty rolls that my husband has ordered have looked delicious. There seem to be quite a few less-than-great sushi places in the Baltimore area so we tend to stick to Soho Sushi whenever we’re craving sushi. It’s really just a great place to go for a quick and relatively quiet dinner where you know what you’re going to get. Apparently they also have smoothies(which, yes, seems a little out of place) but I’m looking forward to trying them in the summer!

This is my primary home for Baltimore Sushi! Maybe not the best I’ve ever had, but pretty close! Yeah, it’s a little quaint to say the least, but some of the best restaurants you’ll ever visit, are hole in the wall, mom and pop, and off the beaten path. Soho enjoys all of these qualities! You have to look beyond the size of the place and just enjoy the great food and excellent service! Plus the size and location mean you don’t usually have to wait very long for your food… The food is incredible! I enjoy it on regular basis for lunch and I haven’t taken a friend yet that didn’t enjoy it as well. In fact, many of my co-workers recommend it to others as a great place to get some fresh sushi and reasonable prices. They have a decent menu for such a small place. I love the smoothies and I’ve tried most of the house rolls. They also serve other main dishes, but when I go I go for the sushi. Great selection, and if you don’t find your favorite on the menu, write down what you want in your roll, and the sushi chef will make it to order! No complaints here! Primo Spot!

I sorry to see that Soho’s first review is overtly negative, because the times I’ve been here, I’ve had nothing but good experiences. The 2 points I must agree on with the first review is that the place is unbelievably small, and that the husband/wife team that run it are out-of-control adorable. There is loads of homey ambiance here, in my opinion. You really feel like the couple is preparing all of this for you. I went on my birthday with my roommate, and we were the only ones in the restaurant, save a few takeout orders. The sushi is good – not great, I suppose, but it’s good. The menu isn’t huge, but it’s complete. And, to top everything off, the seaweed salad is amazing. The prices are a little high, but(and maybe I’m rationalizing here) you’d almost expect it at such a small joint. It’s south in Federal Hill, and unless you know it exists, you aren’t coming down from Cross St. to find it. But, for an intimate sushi place, it’s pretty alright.

It’s hard to give this place a bad rating because the husband and wife who run it are really nice, but I will anyway. The place is super small… maybe 5 tables and a sushi bar(can’t remember if you can even sit at it), so you can hear pretty much every conversation in the place and when it’s just you and one other couple at a table two away from yours, you might as well just pull up a chair and join them. Aside from the lack of ambience, the miniature sushi looks like something that might fill a bird for about an hour. Aside from that the quality sucks. Aside from that it’s BYOB and if you’re not prepared you could end up with a six pack of cider from the bar across the street(as we did). Aside from that the prices are too high for what you get(or don’t get). Aside from that, the place is great!
