Tried to give the rest of my food to the homeless, they denied it. I’d rather eat ampm food

A stomach’s worst nightmare! Like all the other one-star-reviewers, I wouldn’t give a mom & pop place, run by an elderly couple, a scathing review unless they deserved it. However, I can’t in good conscious, let others waste their money here. I might as well have thrown $ 13 in the trash. Upon entering, I was overwhelmed with what I can only describe as a distinctly Texas Chainsaw Massacre atmosphere. Because we didn’t want to wait in the inordinately long lines at every other food purveyor in the center, we ignored our intuition. (…this is the point in the horror movie where the audience is yelling at the soon-to-be victims to get out of the house…) It was deathly quiet and my sister, niece, nephew, and I immediately shrunk into ourselves under the disdainful glare of the ancient Korean man behind the register. Like Leatherface, he remained intimidatingly expressionless as we approached him. With trepidation, we inched toward the counter to give our order. When asked questions about the menu, he angrily gestured toward a faded photo of an enigmatic entrée. When asked for further clarification, he repeated the gesture… with additional anger. Thinking that perhaps he didn’t speak English and was frustrated, we disregarded his impoliteness, and attempted to order. Interestingly, he was able to articulate the price quite clearly, and surprisingly, he did get our order correct. With the arrival of our food, the experience managed to plummet further downward in a serious spiral of taste and texture terror. I’ve eaten enough poultry in my life to say without a doubt, there is NO way that the Teriyaki«Chicken» Bowl actually contained chicken. It had a strange flavor, perhaps that of a feral animal? And it wasn’t served in chopped pieces, but rather seemed to be ripped shreddy chunks of mystery bird … maybe pigeon or seagull? In an effort to camouflage the disconcerting flavor and tough jerky-like texture, they flooded my niece’s «chicken» bowl with enough«teriyaki» sauce to submerge the entire Indian sub-continent. After she dabbed off the viscous brown fluid with the few diaphanous napkins at the table, my nephew politely asked the female version of the rigor mortis-afflicted elderly man for more napkins. She shot him back a look like he had asked her for a bone marrow or organ donation. Pointing at our table, she vehemently told him that she already gave us some. Begrudgingly, she shoved a couple more thin one-ply paper strips at him after he explained that we needed more. After the grueling process of attempting to masticate the suspicious«meat» stand-in, we all gave up and turned with hope to the side of fried«shrimp.» The first indicator of its inedibility was its flat, diamond shape. Much like the«chicken,» both the flavor and texture made it suspect. Again, I’ve eaten enough shrimp in my life to know that what they served, wasn’t it. My best guess is some type of small fish that spent its life in a dirty aquarium. This is literally the only time in my life that everyone at my table threw all their food in the trash after only a few bites. From the combination of an awful atmosphere, frightening food, and non-existent customer service, one can surmise that this«business» is a front for a drug running or money laundering ring. The ONLY reason this place is still in business is because it’s hammocked between Starbuck’s and Fatburger, so it gets their overflow.

I got food poisoning here yesterday 12⁄21 after ordering their chicken teriyaki bowl. The owners were unfriendly, and not a lot of people were in there. I was extremely sick for 16 hours. The food didn’t taste that fresh. Bad mistake. Next time I’ll just stick with a reputable known business here, like In N Out or Starbucks.

A dark, dingy, run down hole in the wall that I initially wanted to support. The Korean Bible verses on the walls were encouraging for a fellow Christian, but wow the reaction I got when I asked«what’s included in the 3 item combo»… Someone who didn’t hear my question could have thought I just asked them to strip off, jump on the counter and do the can-can. The old lady behind the counter scowled, barked out a nonsensical response and started pacing, rolling her eyes and shaking her head at me. I feel like I somehow offended her and her family by not knowing the contents of her entire limited menu from the practically nonexistent clarification and faded photos. I dared not ask my following question about the udon after that. I ordered the udon and ensured I didn’t leave a tip. It was a tiny portion that tasted bland and weak. Save your money and go elsewhere! Sadly I cannot support small businesses that act in this way and really wouldn’t recommend this experience to anyone.

Shin ramen and udon noodles remind me of home. With burgers, del taco, Starbucks and other fast food places around wanted something semi-fresh or homemade. Everything was fine and quick. The older couple who runs the place are so cute and quiet. Nothing to rave about but just right in a pinch.

The food was sitting out in warming trays. They didn’t even heat up our veggies or meat when it was served. The veggies were cold. We are about 2 bites before we threw it out. It was unappetizing and didn’t want to risk eating the meat.

If I can give this place a zero star I would. We walked in and this miserable old man scowled at us. My energy is completely drained. He was very condescending in his reply to our questions about the items on the menu. We just walked out!!! How the bleeping bleep does this place stay open? Wow!!!

Don’t eat here no matter how desperate or how long the lines are at the other restaurants.

Ate here about 1 pm on Sat/18 Jul: — In n Out was packed, I was walking towards Fatburger than I figured I’d chance it here, bad idea. — Had the 4-item combo for $ 9.99: fried shrimp and fried gyozas were good, the eggrolls and teriyaki shrimp were terrible, the California rolls were really dry. — I was looking at other people’s $ 5.99 teriyaki chicken bowl(or $ 7.99 beef bowl) and the portions sizes all around were small. — Old couple seemed nice, but it might be time for them to hang up their aprons.

This place is one of the worst place in the world. Unfriendly rude old couple running this place. Food is terrible and the restroom looked like they never cleaned for years and full of roaches. Save your time and money. Stay away from this place.

In n out was too long of a wait and my friend wanted ramen … We came here. The lady-not nice. The food — doesn’t look appetizing. Ramen was decent and spicy, which is good. I ordered a veggie roll, which you can’t really mess up… the rice was undercooked and it felt it was yesterday’s rice. How do you mess up rice? It’s cooked in a rice cooker. Plus you’ve been dealing with rice your whole life as a Japanese cook, how can you not tell it’s not cooked? Horrible.

Small portions of tasteless food served in a dingy and dark hole by 2 rude senior citizens. The man didn’t say a word and looked at me like I was trying to rob the place. Everyone looked inside then left without ordering. I wish I did the same too. Don’t know what else to say other than that was horrible.

How this place is still open, I have no idea. I ordered an udon and sushi combo. The udon tasted like expensive cup of noodles and the sushi was warm. My girlfriend ordered the beef teriyaki bowl and after one bite refused to eat it. I thought she was overreacting but after trying it, it tasted like the cook had burned the entire batch of teriyaki beef. It was inedible. The sodas were also flavorless and the machine itself hasn’t been serviced since 2010 according to a label on it. The only redeeming aspect was that the place was decently clean. No real complaints there I guess.

It was almost noon on December 27 when we arrived at Barstow. We saw a long line at In & Out burger so I told my family to try this Japanese restaurantt since the sign says Fresh Japanese. BIGMISTAKE. If you want to experience the Twilight Zone, this is the perfect place to go. There was absolutely nothing positive to say about this place. I initially asked for napkins to clean the table but the guy at the counter said he’ll give me some when the food is ready. it took 20 minutes and had to ask for napkins the second time around. The food was terrible, my kids didn’t even bother to finish the sushi since they were not fresh at all! Thank God I was able to make it up to them when we ate at Todai in Vegas. So why is this place still in business? If Fatburger next door is daring enough to compete with In & Out in the same complex, then I think people deserve a better Japanese restaurant in Barstow. That’s my 2 cents.

Stopped by to grab some food to go on a recent trip, wife ordered one chicken bowl and an avocado roll, Sound simple right? it took 20 long minutes to get the food! The chicken bowl was bland and not very appetizing, the avocado roll was made from rock hard avocado and it was a complete waste of money, it went in the trash No idea how this place stays in business.

I really hate to give bad reviews, and I RARELYEVERDO – especially to an elderly Korean couple who runs this small mom and pop shop, but I also want to give my most honest opinion. With a million fast food chains to choose from in Barstow, we decided to give Hana Grill a shot since the parking lot was empty and it seemed like the fastest and least-crowded option. Upon entering, the place was depressing. We didn’t get a warm greeting, even though we were the only customers, not even a smile/hello. The place is dingy and old– ancient menu that was fading and discolored, a disaster of a restroom, and everything was dated and run down. The service was even more depressing. I had a question about what was in one of the udon bowls, and the elderly man just pointed to a picture. Maybe he didn’t speak English? Either way, he never said one word or attempted to be friendly once. The food was also depressing. A little over $ 8 for the Udon + Sushi Combo. The udon bowl was small, bland, and flavorless. I added some soy sauce and sriracha to the bowl which just ended up tasting like water + soy sauce + hot sauce. The udon noodles were not fresh either. It was mushy on the exterior, and a little hard at the center. The 6-piece California roll was okayyyy, but rather small. It didn’t taste very fresh, but i didn’t feel sick either. After we left the place, my friend literally said«That place makes me want to kill myself» and yes, that’s a little dramatic, but I honestly felt the same way after that experience. If the service was better, I’d gladly return to support their small business. But this place has nothing going for them– bad quality, stingy quantity, drab environment, ungrateful owners, and unfitting prices. I think they stopped caring, and it shows. I’d choose gas station grab-n-go food over this place – yep, that bad.

Made the mistake of coming here because the line everywhere else was way too long. The food was basically microwave meal quality, the staff don’t even say hi or speak English I don’t think, the place is not the cleanest either. I would recommend NOT getting any sushi… who knows if its even held at proper temperature. This is a must avoid!

Remember people, you’re in BARSTOW. Where else will you find an(almost) authentic Korean/Japanese restaurant in BARSTOW? This place has been in business FOREVER. I remember coming here many times before Unilocal was born. Hell yes, they are expensive, but they have every right to be. Then we came here a few years ago and didn’t really come back until our recent trip back from Vegas. We were STARVING, so we stopped by for a quick bite. The place was still the same, well kept and simple. No need to impress because this is BARSTOW. The older Korean couple who run this place have aged more. It breaks my heart when I see older couples run their restaurant/business. They looked so tired and so sad. When we walked in, they were both nice and cracked a small smile. Their English has gotten more fluent, but they don’t talk much. They are here to run a business, and they won’t have repeat customers, so they don’t have to be nice. Anyway, years ago, we had chicken teriyaki and yes, it was expensive but edible. This time, we ordered their udon + CA roll combo and quite frankly, we were content with our meal. It wasn’t the best udon + CA roll ever, but it made us happy. Why? Because it’s m’fin’ BARSTOW. This may not be your LA, OC, Las Vegas teriyaki grill, but it’s right off the freeway, convenient, and next door to Starbucks! And remember folks, it’s BARSTOW. If you know where an HMART or any Korean/Japanese supermarkets right off the Barstow freeway within a mile’s exit, please let me know. If not, stfu and don’t eat here if you’re going to complain. There’s a nasty Panda Express for you straight ahead. kthnxbye

2 Stars!!! That’s what other Unilocaler’s gave Hana Grill. That’s what I’m giving them too. Shame on me for not checking out the reviews before I stopped in here for a quick bite. Food with sustenance is missing in Barstow. Your choices are slim and usually fast food. Wanted to try something that didn’t have burger attached to it and ended up here. First, the restaurant is out dated, small, and didn’t look clean. Food looked to have been sitting for awhile. I almost walked out but was starving and the pictures looked good. Besides, it may actually taste good. I was wrong. I had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl which wasn’t as tasty and small. Service was just okay too. I don’t think I’m stopping by anytime soon.
