A coworker and I s5opped in to try this place out… Lamb Vindaloo Lamb Tikka Masalla Aweomse Out of Paneer, but substitute… cardimen ice cream. was awesome. Overall some of the best Indian food I have had in a long long time. As good as the curry i used to get in the UK.

Stopped in here last night for dinner, only to find a real estate sign on the window, doors locked, lights out. The owner of a neighboring store outside said that they were EVICTED! Too bad. This place really did Indian/Pakistani cuisine right. Just goes to show: you might be able to make great food, but it doesn’t mean you know how to run a business. Hopefully these guys will get their act together, change the name and make a solid business plan. And more great food.

This gem of a restaurant despite an unsavory name exists in a strip mall tucked between Mr. Tire and an ATT store. Easy to miss but regret you will. if you do. Having a variety of north indian and south indian fare(I’m of indian descent myself)…I ‘m a fairly good judge of the good, bad, ugly of all that is south asian. Come here for the delicious kabobs, hummus(spicy), garlic naan, awesome lamb biryani(order it on spicy scale of 6−7÷10) and the lamb curry(spice scale of 6−7÷10) and what follows next is a gastronomic delight bar none. This is easily the best indian food in all of Baltimore and yes-this is a bold statement. I brought my parents(extremely critical indian folks of course!) and my in laws. and what followed next was something I haven’t heard in oh. about 5 years of hitting restaurants with them. «This place is excellent… let’s get more». Enough said. The new management understands what it takes… and that is always a good thing. The chef’s need to be commended. for what really hits home and yes invites you back for more.

Visiting my in-laws in the areas, we were not wanting any of the usual«chain» options in the areas. I was able to convince my wife to take a chance and try kabobs. My in-laws had eaten here once and liked it and were willing to try again. Despite the«Factory» name, this is not your typical counter-service kabobs joint. This is a full-service, sit-down restaurant, serving Indian-influenced kabobs and other Indian dishes. We went with a variety of kabobs around the table — my wife and mother-in-law going for salmon, myself for lamb, and my father in law with a beef and chicken combo. Despite the small crowd, it took a while for the food to arrive, and I was expecting the typical salad included with the meal to come out first. Food came after a slightly long but not unbearable wait, and was served more«family style» with communal rice, veggies, naan, and hummus. All of the meats were excellent, although the spices were a bit strong for the wife, who is über-sensitive to spice. Overall a good experience and good kabobs — would definitely go back if I were in the mood for sit-down kabobs or to try their traditional Indian dishes.

The food is OK, the naan was a little well done. My main complaint was that the server was very quiet, hard to understand, and was not helpful when we asked about stuff on the menu. Will go back, but not my first choice.

Neel’s was great and would have received better reviews if they actually had the wine they put in bold to ask for — I would have been happy. The tables were uncomfortable since the booth was two small tables pulled together forcing you to sit on the seam of the table to eat. The staff was ultra friendly and helpful, and the food was great. Use less oil guys on the hummus you are taking the flavor and making the consistency soup. We just missed the belly dancer but saw her walking in to start. I wanted to stay, hubs said NO. Gotta love the man hahahahaha

I did not want to like this place as much as I did. I already have an «Indian place» in Bel Air(Sizzling Bombay). And the name«Kabob Factory» didn’t conjure up any great feelings, so we waited far longer than we should of to try it… now we are are regretting the delay and trying to make up for lost time. From start to finish it was one of the most exceptional meals I have had in a long time. We had a sampling of dishes across the menu and they were all superb. The desert was extraordinary. Two bites in and we though we should order one to-go. The prices are reasonable for the portion size(we took food home). We were told by our waiter that the owner recently sold the place and took the liquor license with him. Not sure what the status is — or if you can BYOB — so call ahead if that is a concern. But don’t let the answer stop you either way, it’s worth your time and $. In fact, we are planning to go back as I am writing this review.

Went here a couple times, enjoyed it every time. I’m not sure if a lot of their business is take out, because every time I’m in there, I’m usually the only one in there. The portions are really good and the prices are decent — a little on the high side, but most Indian is. I don’t understand the name and I think that keeps some people away, but that is just my opinion. My favorites from here are the lamb, chicken tikka, and salmon kabobs. The rice is also really good, as well as the Naan. Their hummus is some of the best I’ve had. Service is always really good as well.

4 stars if you are looking for a a no hassle meal =) This place is great for an affordable delicious meal. As a lunch spot, it isn’t overly crowded ilke the rest of the eateries in Festival and the food, Mmmm exotic delicious. With a mix of Middle Eastern and Indian food, it soothes the savory-addict soul. The kabob platters come with salad, steamed veggies and HUMMUS and naan(amazing Indian bread). The Hummus tastes better than butter and is by far the best hummus I have ever had. The creamy yogurt base with the nice fruity olive oil makes it all worth it. The meats are pretty good, well cooked and the chicken has never been overly dry. The Indian-based dishes are pretty good(very much like Sizzling Bombay and Bombay Nights– which are apparently owned by the same guy). I knocked a star off for a few dishes that seemed unusally American influenced and not quite Middle Eastern or Indian(not that i am an expert or anything, but … for example the Lasuni Gobi appetizer. it is Cauliflower sauteed with garlic, curry leaves and exotic Indian spices. but what came out our table was garlicky spiced ketchup covered cauliflower. Another downside to this restaurant is that the Family Platters(which would be great in the restaurant for fun communal dining) are not allowed to be ordered in the restaurant. It is only for take-out. All that aside. This place is great for a no hassle, inexpensive yummy meal with a touch a exotic =)

my 5 stars are based on 2 dishes that i had today at Neel’s — the ginger lamb and the rice pudding, along with the chai. The ginger lamb was in a fragrant, aromatic, brown yogurt sauce. It had large chunks of cardamon and other spices I couldn’t name but definitely enjoyed. I’ve had the kabobs before and they are fine, but more of a 3 star than 5. The flavors reflected culinary artistry, which I’ve rarely found at the standard Indian restaurant with a buffet. I will definitely be back! Also had Neel’s naan, which had chunks of red onion and chicken. Fantastic. Service was attentive without being overbearing, friendly, warm, and sincere. Thanks, Neel’s, for a delectable food experience today.

My family has had dinner here a lot since coming to MD. The owner is frequently there and he’s very nice. Food is very good, I love their hummus. Their falafel is the best I have had. Aloo Tiki(potato patty appetizer) was a bit bland but otherwise everything I have tried was very good. I am going to caveat that by pointing out that I am a complete ghora and only ate in Edison, NJ a handful of times. So I can’t vouch for how authentic it may be. =) It is what it is though… Not a full blown, sit down restaurant. You order at the counter and get your own condiments and take out containers. The service is friendly and accomodating. Just don’t go expecting an all out, full service Indian restaurant with a full spectrum of Indian cuisine(for that go to Sizzling Bombay or Bombay Nights). *EDIT* The description above says they do not serve alcohol, but I believe they recently started.

Set in an old pizzeria of shopping plaza, we decided to check out since we had restaurant com coupon. Place clean and efficient and we were looking forward to a good meal. We had dinner combo(chicken and lamb baresh kebab) and lamb curry(in gravy section), mango lassi and onion naan. Onion naan was one piece of pita liberally spread w/sauteed onion, cut in 4 pieces and served with small homous. We know we can make better homous at home so that was disappointing. Second I asked for a salt or plain lassi which is much more traditional and was told that was not possible. Also disappointing which highlighted the fact that lassi came from cans versus fruit mixed with base(plain) lassi. Unfortunately orders got mixed up and the kebabs were spicy(we asked for mild) and the lamb curry was mild(we asked for extra spicy). To compensate for kitchen error we received free rice pudding(delicious but not worth $ 5). The lamb curry was very good and the best thing we had from menu. The kebab combo was ok but not worth $ 14 for 7 chunk pieces of meat. We may be spoiled since for comparable price in either Edison, NJ or Jackson Heights, NY we get more for the same amount of $$. Glad Neel’s is bringing diversity to area and we may have enjoyed it more if we didn’t have such expectations

I came here looking for ethnic food since its lacking in Harford county. I had the paneer masala lunch special and an order of vegetable samosas. The samosas was okay, not the best I’ve tried. It wasn’t very flavorful and the crust wasn’t so great. The paneer masala was pretty good. Masala sauce is authentic and there was a ton of paneer. The rice was also good. Overall I’ll come again!

Not a lot of ethnic cuisine options here in Harford County, but saw this one on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. It’s really a mix of Middle-Eastern and Indian cuisine that seems to work well. Not a huge menu, but what they do they seem to do well. They specialize, going by the name, in their kabobs. They also have several Indian dishes, just not as many as in an Indian restaurant. We started off with some vegetable samosas that were very nice — just 2, but they were big enough to have to cut them open — with generous filling and accompanying sauces. They also provided us with some pita chips with the 2 sauces. Then we moved to the main courses — the lamb kabob(chunks) and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Both were very good — the grilled veggies that accompanied the lamb were marinated the same as the lamb and tasted great. If there’s anything they could improve upon, it would be the décor and atmosphere — but that’s really the location and budget. Seems to me to be a good value, with prices for entrees from $ 8.99 to $ 14.99 and plenty of food. To conclude, I highly recommend it for great flavors(the spices seemed fresher and less muddled than other Indian restaurants we visit) and a nice dinner.

Always up for something new, I decided to be adventurous and stopped by Neel’s Kabob Factory for some carry out. I walked in and it felt like they re-upholstered Cheeburger Cheeburger from teal to red. Same tables, same layout, same chairs, just a different color. And lots of cultural décor. It’s nice. The restaurant was completely empty, but it was 3 pm on a Saturday. I ordered the Cottage Cheese Tikka, which is homemade cottage cheese chunks marinated and grilled with veggies, served with rice, salad, hummus and fresh naan. Secretly, that’s why I went. I’ve been craving fresh naan since I watched an episode of the Mighty Boosh(not recommended) I ordered it to go, was told it’d be about ten minutes. Left, ran another errand, came back exactly ten minutes later and was handed my just-finished ordered. Good job, guys! Brought it home, and dug in. Naan — gooood. Hummus — gooood. Salad — meeeeeeh. Cottage cheese, veggies and rice — good if you like that sort of thing. Which I don’t. I feel the same way about Neel’s Kabob Factory as I do about Sizzling Bombay. it’s good if you like that sort of thing… which I don’t.

Yum. Another ethnic food place in Harford county? YAY: D I’ve never been to a restaurant that was solely for kebabs before. I thought the barrah(whole meat) kebabs were way better than the sheesh kebabs(ground meat). The hostess took great care to let us know that everything was made from scratch and that it would be a while. While the hostess was very attentive, our food still kinda got messed up. I think this is because we weren’t aware you were supposed to order at the counter and just kinda went in and sat down. Someone waited on us but they didn’t get all of our orders(though I have no idea how). The hostess made sure we got our food though, and compensated with a free dessert. Yummy rice pudding :)

Stopped in for lunch the other day and will surely be returning. Finally someone in Bel Air, a.k.a. Chain Store Hell, realized the need for authentic ethnic cuisine. I had the cubed lamb kabob while my wife had the chicken kabob. Both were very flavorful and tender. All meals are served with nan(bread), hummus, and rice. Neel also has a «sauce» bar, which had an awesome mint yogurt sauce amongst others. The good part about this place is that you pay at the counter and they bring the food to you. As such, while you don’t get the full on dining experience, you save $$$ on not having to tip a waiter or waitress. With a drink the bill came to $ 20.00. Not bad for all the food they give you. In sum, we will be spreading the word about this place to our friends and neighbors. It would be a shame to have Bel Air lose a local business, only to be replaced with some other chain store restaurant. I mean, how much bland, generic food can the people in this area eat! Good luck Neel!

This restaurant, owned by the same people as Bombay Nights in White Marsh, just opened in September. They serve a variety of kabobs. We found out about them via . The food was mediocre. I got the barrah lamb/chicken combo, and my boyfriend got the seesh lamb/chicken combo. Unfortunately my lamb was tough and not very flavorful, though this was not the case for the seesh lamb. The chicken was tasty, though. The«spicy hummus» was apparently not intended to be hot spicy, just flavorful spicy. Either way, it was surprisingly watery. The veggies were tasty though. The carrots had a nice vinaigrette of some sort on them. The manager did try to remedy the situation with the tough lamb, though, by comping us dessert, which was very nice of her. We got cardamom kulfi, which was actually served on a popsicle. I have never seen kulfi on a popsicle stick, but it was pretty good. The cardamom flavor was quite subtle, though, and sadly overpowered by the strawberry sauce they drizzled on top. If I came back, I would just stick with a chicken kabob, because the chicken was very moist, tender, and flavorful.
