Blank Space Cafe

Was excited to see this on Groupon as I’ve been meaning to check this place out Very difficult to spot location across from Bellevue transit center wedged between a bagel shop and a Thai restaurant. Drove around a few times, even called and could not manage to find the designated parking area. Café itself is super cute inside, does not look like a typical bubble tea joint, much more classy. I was disappointed to not be able to get boba (came in right when they opened and they told me it would be a 30 minute wait). Got the rose milk tea and original milk tea 75% sweet, hot which were both good however I would not have paid full price for them (would’ve been ~$ 4 – 5 each without the Groupon). I think next time I will just save myself the hassle and go to Sharetea in the Renton Landing…

Very small café that serves bubble tea and desserts. Most of it is empty with two tables and a few stools available for sitting. They have macarons, tofu pudding, and toast boxes. Service was kind of slow because there was just one person processing a half a dozen orders or so.
The tofu pudding wasn’t on the menu on the wall when we were there, but when you order it you can choose between taro, red bean, or tapioca for the topping. The tofu pudding is soft and jiggly and doesn’t have much flavor.

* Tofu pudding w/​Tapioca — The tapioca was overly chewy and rubbery. This might be because they were cold, but not very appetizing or flavorful.

The neighborhood boba tea café that is tucked away in a little shack in downtown Bellevue… It’s like a secret secret hide out or something.
Came here to work and to get boba, and instead of being bombarded with the scent of roasted coffee and country acoustic/​pop playlist of the likes of Starbucks and Tully’s, I was greeted with the smell of milk and tea. And no kidding, this space is a blank space, but you know what, that’s what’s great about it. (Although I hope it does get more business.)
I got the taro milk tea, which bless, wasn’t too sweet, at all. And I can taste the flavor and the milk. The girl behind the counter is absolutely sweet, and very informative. I may come back again to get the brick toast.
But not just toast, you could get cookies, little pastries, and even pocky. The macarons, if I’m not mistaken, as I recognize certain flavors, is from the MacarOn Café in NYC. I’ve had their macarons before in the city (locations in Manhattan and Queens I believe), and they’re very delicious, soft insides and chewy. Though I’m not sure what the cross country trek does to the ones here!
Anyways, this is a fantastic little hubspot for locals. For those wondering what the comparison with Drive Thru Boba is, let’s put it this way, when it comes to getting boba, I get it because I crave it. So if I spend $ 5 here and can get a 24oz cup of taro milk tea (instead of 12 – 16), I most definitely will. If I didn’t live near here and parking was an issue, of course it’d be more convenient to park at the Safeway’s or the mall and walk around the corner to Drive Thru Boba. Plus there is also food here (well toast and pastries) haha.

Solid choice if you’re looking for a milk tea/​boba place in Bellevue. I would recommend getting some of their flavored green/​black tea choices as I think that’s probably their strength. Milk teas are good, but I think I would probably choose other boba spots for their milk teas.
For the green tea, it was a great balance of tasting the tea, the fruit flavor, and it wasn’t too sweet!
Love the décor of the place though. Very simplistic and elegant and it provides a really great atmosphere for studying or just meeting up with a group of friends. Beware that there is limited amount of parking.

I didn’t expect Blank Space to literally mean: blank. space.
Come in and step right into the minimalistic café with plenty of open space! Not sure why you’d leave this many open space as most people would like to sit down when they’re in a café.
We came in right at opening (noon), and service was slow. Perhaps they were still setting up? We ordered the honey toast, and when another person ordered honey toast, they were sold out. Apparently they were slammed the day before and don’t have any in stock. Yikes. Opening a store without the main food that they serve?
It’s my first time trying honey toast, and honestly, it’s pretty good. But it took over 30 minutes to prepare. So if you’re patient enough, you’ll be rewarded!
The rest of the table weren’t happy with the bubble tea, the flavors are off and the drink a tad too sweet. I had the warm honey milk tea and it was pretty good — but then you can’t mess up a honey milk tea!
Maybe next time we’ll have a semi-​filled-​space?

[Random Walk-​in Experience] This place was smart about their advertising and caught my attention on Facebook when it first opened so I was instantly excited. I walked in really just for the macaroons on a random day and discovered that they came in through a vendor; one that seemed to be based in New York. That told me 2 things: 1) they were previously frozen and 2) they will probably not have the same taste and consistently of a regular macaroon. These guesses turned out to be true and I was not extremely impressed. The buttercream was great and the size of the macaroon is slightly larger than usual so if you eat them when they are cold, they taste like an ice cream sandwich.
Service was good and the cashier was really helpful. However, I think this place needs to work on some of the details in their business. For example, my cashier was unsure how to put the macaroons in the box provided from the vendor and was hesitant about putting the macaroons in them because the box was small. I stood at the cash register waiting as he figured out what he wanted to do but these types of steps should be resolved in training. Aside from that, I’m really excited to try other things on their menu as they offer honey toast! Yes, it’s that big giant loaf of bread that you see people posting with scoops of ice cream and diabetes all over it. It’s amazing and I will be eying that next.
Dishes ordered: Macaroons

I came here to do some work with a friend around 1pm on a weekday, and all the tables were empty so we had a good selection on where to sit — yay! I noticed later on that most traffic in here is come and go, so if you’re looking for a place with some good table space in dt Bellevue, this is a good option! They’re open every day too!
The menu has a good variety of drinks and snacks — milk teas, slushes, smoothies, teas, macarons, toast box, muffins, etc. I tried a hot original milk tea, with 75% sweetness, and I liked it! Glad I didn’t try full sweetness because it would’ve been too sweet for me. My drink ended up being $ 4.11 for a 16 oz, which I think is more than normal considering I didn’t get any toppings? so expect to pay close to $ 5 if you want tapioca in your drink, or if you want a 20 oz. Oh, cute drink sleeve though — see pic!
Overall, good spot to get a drink and hang out or do some work! Also because they play awesome music! I’ll be back to get my original milk tea again or to try something else new on the menu :)
Tip: there’s plenty of parking behind the strip where the café is located! Very convenient :)

When I heard another bubble tea place opened in Bellevue, I was skeptic how it would compare to some of my current favorites. If you aren’t looking for it, it feels like it’d be a mini adventure finding it. The café is nestled in a small cozy space between ooba tooba and blazing bagels. I walk into an open, indeed «blank» space, with the counter at the furthest end of the room. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of options for drinks and desserts.
I asked to try a favorite flavor of mine, almond milk tea with half the normal sweetness. I was quite disappointed however, to find out that the flavors are either syrup or powder-​based. I also asked to try two of their macarons, matcha green tea and pumpkin cinnamon.
The almond milk tea was flavorful, maybe still a bit on the sweet side for me (I typically ask for half sweet). The texture of the macarons were okay, less crunch and more chew, and the buttercream tasted a bit old. The matcha green tea flavor was actually more bitter than sweet, but the sweetness of pumpkin cinnamon compensated enough for it.
Overall not a bad experience but not consistent yet either. Maybe next time.

I was really wanting a bubble tea before heading back to Seattle. I happened to notice the café on my way to the Bellevue transit centre; was so glad I stopped in and ordered a bubble tea: jasmine milk tea with boba. The macarons looks really tasty as well, I’ll have to try one (or two) next time…

I came in here when it first opened because I love the concept of macaron, milk tea, and café. All these are wonderful things that I love. I was attracted by the rows of macaron and I inquired about their origin.
Store person, «We get them from a place in New York.»
Me, «Which place in New York?» (Hoping it was Laduree)
Store Person, «I don’t know (turning to her coworker), do you know where from New York we get our macarons? «
Coworker, «No, just a place somewhere.»
I don’t know if the mysterious origin made me extra critical of the macaron. I didn’t like how one of the ones I got had cracked shells. Then I thought of how these were days old macaron so they didn’t taste great to me either. But if they were flown in, perhaps I shouldn’t be so critical. Although, why fly them in from the East Coast when there are pastry chefs capable of making superb macaron here?
The quandary and the less than amazing macarons made me not enjoy the experience. I still think it’s a great concept for a store in Bellevue. Perhaps it just needs better execution? Maybe they should get Fumi from Fumi’s Gold to do some baking for them.

It was my first time here and I can say, this café was really good! I never knew there was this café in Bellevue until my friend told me about it. Now I don’t need to travel so far just for a café. The service was quick, friendly, and nice! I got the hot strawberry black tea with a toastbox of green tea ice cream, caramel syrup, strawberry pocky, and the rose lychee macaron on top. All very good!!! The interior décor was simple, but it was cute. Would come again and recommend others to come!

If you don’t know what to try, try this: coconut smoothie with milk and tapioca pearls.
I’ve had boba smoothies all over Seattle and this one is by far my favorite. I can’t comment on the «tea» flavors, just the coconut flavor, but I get out here at least once a week now for my fix.

I can’t stop. I wake up craving these in the middle of the night. I might have a problem, but I don’t want it fixed. Blank Space is great!

Honestly, I think their drinks are just OK. There’s a better milk tea place just a little further, but they’re close to my office, so sometimes, I’m just lazy. I’ve had their honeydew milk tea and taro milk tea, and they were kind of bland. Not my favorite. But, they do have macarons, which aren’t bad. Will I keep going to this place? Probably, since they’re so close to my office.

Blank Space Café definitely lives up to its name with its minimalistic interior décor and clean space. I do like the idea of warm minimalistic styles, but walking into Blank Space made me feel exactly that: a blank space. The atmosphere left me feeling concrete and almost secluded: like being in a giant white cube.
Be warned that parking is impossible; very VERY limited parking spaces (I had to sneakily park in the separate space belonging to the neighboring store). Other than that, regarding location, it is located right next to Blazing Bagels near the Bellevue Transit Center.
I came here with my sister to give this place a go, since we’ve first heard of it but never been. She ordered a regular Hot Milk Tea and some Toast Bites (not pictured) while I bought three fatty Macarons.
Although the temperature of the Milk Tea was spot on, it did not entice my taste buds as I hoped it would. Instead of a creamy Milk Tea, I felt like it tasted a bit powdery and artificial. The Toast Bites were average as well. It is made with shaved Coconut pieces, a little condensed milk (would’ve been better had there been a bit more), and peanuts. The Coconut pieces were definitely interesting but I could’ve done just fine without it. The Macarons, however, were the best buy out of the three.
I got a Honey Lavender, Rose Lychee, and Earl Grey Macaron. As opposed to thin crème filling sandwiched between two layers, the crème filling in Blank Space’s Macarons were delightfully thick and luscious. The consistency of the texture of the Macaron was slightly chewy and soft all around: just the way I like it. All of them were wonderful! They also offer a Macaron stamp card! Every 12 Macarons you buy, you get a 13^th one for free!
Overall, even though the Milk Tea and the Toast Bites were unfortunate disappointments, their Macarons were great! I hope to see that their quality in other items improve next time!

Probably one of the most low-​quality bubble teas I’ve tried in Washington, if not the worst, with the exception of those at phở and teriyaki shops. And yes, the boba IS undercooked and pebbly inside.
To best describe the experience: there is honey, and a green milk tea, but they cannot make a honey green milk tea. What the hell? Haha.
One more star because the macaroons can be really good if they’re not rock-​hard :)

Just bad. Tried it with my wife during our lunch date without the kids as we had just finished a nice lunch at Lot No 3 close by. We have the rose milk tea with boba as some of the Unilocalers suggested but was seriously disappointed by the undercooked bobas. They were hard in the center and multiple bobas were all stuck together clumpy in our drink. Someone didn’t make the batch right that morning I guess. Definitely not worth the high price they charged.
I can’t comment on any of the food as we only had the one drink. One and done. Sorry.

Nice little café and nice menu. I tried the Passionfruit Green Tea Bubble Tea with tapioca, and it was good. I wouldn’t say I loved it; I wouldn’t put it on my list of my favorite bubble tea/​bubble tea places. But the Rose Lychee Macaron I tried was really good, but a little pricey at $ 2.50 for one. I wouldn’t mind trying more items off of the menu here.

Their macaroons are amazing! I had the earl grey macaroon and it was heaven in my mouth. The macaroons here are gluten free and have a ton of good quality stuffing. I can’t wait to try honey lavender next time.
The ambiance of the café is very nice. It’s minimalist, industrial/​modern. There are tables to share with others; or space for singles on the side.
Overall, this is my new go to place when I need a place to chat with friends. The space and food are on point!

Clean, light, white with a slight modern industrial feel makes this café feel warm and inviting. The atmosphere is great for studying with bar seating and outlets available.
I had the passion fruit green tea which was not too sweet! This works for me since I’m an avid tea drinker, but it has a strong flavor — so it’s not for those with a major sweet tooth. My friends ordered boba which I would sum up as average. Not the best, but not the worst either.
They had a wide variety of unique flavored macaroons but after a recommendation, I went for the espresso. It was pretty good, had a lot of filling but I didn’t mind. However, at $ 2.50 a piece, I still prefer Lady Yum.
Overall, it was a cute café with a good atmosphere and I definitely have to come back and try the honey toast! Not an excellent first experience that I’d be raving about it with all my friends, but good enough to want to return for the honey toast!

This review is for the rose milk tea and lavender milk tea. First off, I love creamy milk teas and these were so tasty! Both the rose and lavender had a good amount of creaminess and sweetness. You can definitely taste the different flavors between the rose and lavender.
The café is very cute and chill. A pretty good space to come with a buddy to catch up and hang out. I would definitely come back if I wasn’t going back home to hawaii :(
