The Carolina Tavern

Place was clean but seemed to be suffering an identiry crisis. Ribs were tender but not anything outstanding and ribs are their specialty item. The ribs tasted boiled or steamed with sauce later poured over them. Pulled pork was good. Portions were big. Waitress was nice and polite but spent alot of time sitting down looking at her phone. I would not recommend. Maybe I got there on an off nite.

Went on a rainy Sunday evening when no one else was really there but I Really enjoyed the service and warmness of the place. We sat at the bar and John was exemplary of how a bartender should be. The food was perfectly cooked and can’t wait to go back and try one of their many wing flavors and burger combinations.

I feel really bad giving a bad review for this place. The food was really good, prompt and friendly service with great prices. However, there are flies all over the place. I counted at least 20 near our table and the window. Not only that, but cleanliness seems like a big problem here. Our table and booth was dirty and sticky.

Tried this restaurant and was disgusted. Will never return. Arrived at 4:50pm, they had a salad bar on the menu — upon looking at the salad bar chose not to order due to lettuce being brown, containers not cleaned and desperately needed refreshment. As of 5:45 it was never touched, refilled or cleaned. So since this wasn’t an option I ordered a turkey sandwich. The «cheese sauce» that came on it was clearly old and had clumps in it. Took one bite to try and give it a chance and I was done as it was inedible. There were flies flying around us and in the food. We asked to leave, clearly not touching certain items but were never offered refund or any consolidations except the Hostess agreeing with us about the flies.
If you are going for a beer its a great place to go but I would not recommend going for the food itself.
The only positive was a very friendly and enthusiastic server. If he changes restaurants I would return for his service.

My husband and 2 teenaged sons went at 6 on a Friday night. Our waiter was great! We ordered the pretzel dippers as an appetizer & they were AMAZING! I could have just ate that as my meal. We all loved our meals & my boys were actually full… Which almost never happens. They had self serve beer on tap and I was even able to get a glass of wine. I will definitely go back.

My mother and I decided to check this out for something new and we had a great expeience. Food came out hot and perfect, our server was awesome and the prices there are very reasonable. They have something for everyone. can’t wait to go back.

We went to check out the self serve taps, but apparently that concept wasn’t working out so those are already gone. There is so little to do in Bluffton that I was thrilled to check out a new local spot, especially since I’ve been by the Port Royal location but never got to stop in. Unfortunately my Blufftopian disappointment continues.
I’m always wary of restaurants that are carpeted. Between the carpeted dining area, the bright juke box, the cartoons playing on the table side TVs and the giant crane game this place has the atmosphere of a Chuck E. Cheese’s but with a mix of families with kids and motorcycle clubs. The wait staff was friendly and everyone was nice, though.
The wings were ok. Pretty good selection of sauces. My ribs came out grey and cold. My meal came with a salad, but I elected not to take a trip to the salad trough. The beer selection was weird for a wing/​rib place. Lots of heavy dark beers which tells me they want to be part of the craft beer demand but have no idea how to select beer. There are several local breweries they could feature that would mix well with the neighborhood feel they’re trying to accomplish.
It wasn’t awful. It was more of an uncomfortable experience. We tried it, but we will stick to Bluffton BBQ for ribs and Wild Wing Café for wings.

Great pub/​tavern food. Service was great. Had the lunch special of salad bar, pulled pork, and unlimited wings for $ 9. One of the best deals in town. The fire BBQ on the pulled pork was awesome, great spice & heat! Wing sauces were good flavor but pretty mild heat so will have to go for the hotter stuff next time.
Didn’t take advantage of the self serve beer tap bar but it’s a cool concept. Great beer selection on tap. We will come back
