Very touristy with unfortunate, predictable results. Pretty terrible. Service was poor at best. Waited over 20 minutes for basically bad fast food. To be fair, the clam chowder was good, not great, it was at least hot. The crab sandwich was almost inedible, bland and expensive. No chunks of crab but a shredded mess that was difficult to tell whether it was crab or some kind of filler fish. Bodega Bay and its restaurants are, by nature, touristy. I don’t have that big a problem with that and have, in the past, had good meals and fresh fish in the Bodega area, so not all of the establishments are bad. Avoid this one and continue up the coast.

Chowder: nice bacon; not as many clams and fresh potatoes as boat house but flavor is very good. Grilled fish tacos very good and so is kale slaw. Calamari looks good.

I was a little skeptical of coming here at first, it’s next to a delicious restaurant & I’ve always passed by it for decades without thinking twice. I came to Bodega Bay for lunch and every establishment was out the door, literally. So I decided to try this place. I ordered their fish and chips, with a Corona. It took awhile for them to fry it, which I had no problem with. The fish was delicious, their beer that they batter it in was amazing! The crust surrounding the fish was so succulent, so tasty! The Corona was a perfect pair, especially since it was such a nice day out! The meal with my beer was $ 20. I was shocked a beer, especially a Corona was $ 6, then again it’s Bodega Bay. I will return here, I love how you can bring your pets to their outside sitting area, it’s especially wonderful during a perfectly sunny day! The fish was freshly caught, fries were delicious, I’m a fan! I recommend this place to anyone who might be weary of its location. Some of the best kept gems are always reclusive.

Location: in the heart of downtown Bodega Bay, it shares a parking lot with a seafood restaurant. There is plenty of parking. Ambiance: very casual. Once you enter, you will see the line to get to the register to place your order. They offer oysters, sandwiches and plenty of glass bottled drinks. When I was here, I saw two people accidentally drop and break their glass bottles. The service is fast about sweeping, but not always careful. I had to point our several missed spots of glass shards. The wait is ridiculously long. We were maybe 8th or 9th in line, and it took us 20 minutes to place an order and 30 minutes to receive our order. Plenty of outdoor seating. Food: the oysters were delicious! Highly recommend. The clam chowder only has meat from fish, hence the name Fishetarian. It was tasty but a little too heavy. Not sure if it’s worth the price. Tip: if you check in on Unilocal, you get a free cup of clam chowder! Be sure to check in outside because there’s no reception inside.

Came to Bodega Bay with the SO for the first time, after staying in Jenner for Valentines Day. What a special and quirky little chowder place! Has a cool little history of how they opened. I love this place and their chowder is gluten free, and offers different flavor profiles. Unlike other chowders, this place puts fresh carrot, and several other veggies inside while it cooks. So it tastes so fresh, savory and unique. And of course the clams are tender(and not too chewy) which I LOVE! If you come to Bodega Bay don’t pass this place up. OH and they have a great selection of craft beers. :)

Great food. We had the Ahi sandwich and my son had the kids fish & chips. Sweet potato fries are yummy. Long line but worth the wait. Offer gluten free and a lot of healthy organic options. Large selection of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

Excellent sea food. Especially great fish and chips. Locals often recommend the Boat House but I found the quality at Fishetetian to be much higher. Their clam chowder is great too.

The Fishetarian has the best clam chowder on the north coast of California. The only place that compares, is Splash, a clam chowder house in Pismo Beach. The fish tacos are extremely good. Long lines all the time. Come early or late to avoid the rush. Family run and very professional.

Free cup of delicious chowder for checking in? What’s not to love about this place? We were so impressed with our soup and sandwiches last time we came that we doubled back the following weekend. Their food is scrumptious. Thanks for the free chowder too!

Absolutely hands down the best oysters I have ever had. Tried the raw, Bbq, and Maui wowie– each one was perfectly grilled and each sauce added a nice punch of flavor that did not overwhelm the oyster. The service was very knowledable and nice. I purchased some of the signature chili sauce and the owner was nice enough to share his secrets in how the sauce is made. You need to come here and experience the true Bodega Bay experience — fresh seafood that explodes with unique flavor, and excellent customer service that beams from each individual who works and owns the buisness.

If you haven’t been to Bodega Bay, you’ll need to go. Once you’re there in Bodega Bay, make sure you go by Fishetarian. It looks like it’s a tourist trap located on the pier but it’s a small charming market that serves fresh, delicious seafood treats. There’s a small indoor space(good when it’s cold out) but the outdoor space is my preferable place to dine. My family and I stopped here for lunch. Note: I’m not normally one to go for fried seafood but everything here was surprisingly amazing. Fish and chips: flakey fish, light crispy dough that’s a perfect thickness. Not too thick, not too thin, just right. Bonus, you can still taste the fish. Calamari and chips: tentacles! lots of them! don’t be afraid of these weird looking limbs because your mouth will like them. It’s not chewy but tender and the sauce with it is a sweet but spicy asian inspired dipping sauce. Fish Tacos: Just get them! I’ve had plenty of fish tacos in my day but I love that these are grilled, served with a great serving of slaw which makes it all so balanced. Randoms: — sweet potato fries rule over the regular fries here — kale slaw, so LA right? wrong. it’s a fresh delicious california style side dish. embrace it — be warned of the wide selection of drinks. you might want to stare at the fridge for 42min

Fishetarian is a must anytime we are in Bodega Bay! It’s a casual lunch spot and fresh fish market with outdoor and indoor seating. Service is always speedy and friendly every time I’ve been. The seafood is to die for and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I am a huge fan of their oysters and recently they were some of the biggest oysters I’ve ever seen. They have some with an Asian flavor with some kind of sweet and tangy sauce with green onion that are my favorite(I think they’re called the Maui Wowie oysters). The chowder is delicious(check in on Unilocal for a free cup). I’m also a fan of the shrimp and crab sandwich. Wish I could eat this food more often!

This place was an amazing random find. We were riding our motorcycles through Bodega Bay, and it was amazingly cold, foggy and windy so we stopped for an early lunch. You order at the counter, which behind a refrigerated glass was tons of fresh seafood. They have a large selection of seafood, fried, sandwiches, chowders, etc. I got the 5 fried oysters and fries, and my friend ordered the crab sandwich. The oysters were HUGE and hot and delicious. The fries were good, and everything came with tartar sauce and chili sauce. The server were friendly and super upbeat. They have a fine selection of every kind of non-alcoholic beverage you can think of as well as beer.

I fell in love with this place immediately. It’s not just a fish market with fresh local catches, it’s a restaurant as well. And the best kind — ultra comfortable, casual, and simple. Nothing fancy going on, and they’re not open late, but stop by sometime between 11 and 6 for friendly faces and fantastic food in a beautiful setting on the water. We came by around 1PM on a Saturday and it was PACKED. Once you have an experience here you’ll understand why — it’s just a really fun, laid back atmosphere. I’m sure there were tons of tourists inside(me being one of them), but Fishetarian still has that small town local feeling that’s getting harder and harder to come by. Inside there are just a few tables, then there’s a great patio both out front and to the side. There’s a huge menu on the wall behind the giant fish-filled counter, and you wait in line to order. You pay upfront and get a number, and depending on the crowd, you’ll probably wait 10 – 15 minutes for your number to be called so you can go pick it up. Everything’s made fresh to order — beautiful salads, fried fish and chips, gorgeous sandwiches. There’s a vegetarian, gluten free, and kids menu — no meat besides fish, of course. Fishetarian! The back wall is a refrigerator filled with tons of beer and ciders, and there’s bottle openers on the walls. Love it. I was ecstatic when I saw that their award winning clam chowder is gluten free, so I happily ordered a bowl of that. It was soooo good. Creamy, but thinner than most chowders. The flavors were big but not overwhelming, and the little clams were perfect. No sandiness. Luckily we were able to find a spot to sit out front on the covered patio so we had some shelter from the sun. In the shade, the weather can’t be beat. A shortage of seating may be the only downside to this restaurant/fish market. Right now you get a free cup of chowder if you check-in on Unilocal

Skip Lucas Wharf and come here, unless you want to pay for that view and the name. Fishetarian is definitely better and mainly does its purpose– being a fishetarian with fresh seafood. The place is literally a fish market that serves food. They have picnic tables outside(no view of the bay) and some inside. They also sell beer for a good price. We checked in and got a complimentary cup of clam chowder. We also ordered 2 beers, Dungeness crab cocktail, shrimp cocktail and ½ oysters. The crab was the best thing! It was fresh and sweet, it didn’t even need the cocktail sauce. The shrimp was good as well, very sweet and fresh. The clam chowder was different(in a good way) they had Big chunks of clams and herbs along with the potatoes and carrots. It also wasn’t as thick… Not your traditional chowder. It was a great twist to the chowder. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the oysters. It was pretty bitter, I think that’s the type of oyster available that day but it wasn’t good, something about that batch… Anyway, when up in this area, get some chowder, shrimp and crab! You won’t regret choosing Fishetarian over Lucas. You probably save a ton too.

This is a really great spot. Great location right off of Hwy 1, with friendly atmosphere, really fresh high quality seafood. We were afraid that the seafood here would be too«American», meaning too greasy, deep-fried, heavily breaded. It’s the opposite — it’s very simple, with slight Asian twist, and lots of herbs. It was so good that we came here all 3 days of our trip to Bodega Bay. We had: — Fish tacos: very simple, grilled fish on slaw, a little bit of salsa. — Kale slaw: nice dressing with sesame seeds making kale less«raw» tasting — Chowder: lots of herbs, very tasty, warms you up! — Oysters plate: 6 oysters of different style(two types of BBQ, and raw). Very good! — Cheesecake: very light and fluffy tasting — Salad: very fresh. They also have a check-in offer for free chowder or kale salad. We only used it once in our three visits because we feel bad taking advantage of them. They are so friendly, making us just want them to do well! I’ll be back again!

Spotted this deli on my Unilocal rader after a visit to Doran Beach. Really happy we gave it a try. The lady worked the deli counter with experience, making jokes with customers in a russian accent. We all ordered the crab sandwiches and were all pleased with them. Sandwich: A large helping of fresh crab & louie sauce, with a slight dill spice mixed in. Dressed with crispy lettuce, ripe tomato and melted jack cheese all on buttery toasted chabatta bread. Quite a heavenly mixture to chew on. Fries: Fresh cut, not unlike the fries at In & Out. You can also order sweet potato fries. Clam chowder: Thin, creamy, piping hot chowder sauce. Very flavorful, peppery, with a good helping of clams, shredded carrots and diced potatoes. Scant indoor seating, but plenty of benches outside. Bring some warm clothes if dining here late afternoon, can get a little windy outside. Great views of Bodega Bay in the vicinity.
