Absolutely amazing. The wait is well worth it. We got the crab sandwich along with the clam chowder. Both were excellent. I have to say that the bread they serve the crab sandwich on is out of this world and takes the crab sandwich to whole new level.

OH. MY. GOD. Clam chowder, oh so yummy! Down to earth, genuine seafood establishment that serves some of the best clam chowder ever. Great, simple flavors and I love that the chowder isn’t the same ol’ chunky, heavy chowder you get at most other places. Word to the wise: IGNORE any temptation to visit Fisherman’s Cove, next door. Double the cost, half the quality, and rude employees. I unfortunately made the decision to visit them on our last stop in Bodega Bay instead of this gem of a place. P. S. Bring a jacket. Don’t let a sunny day mislead you!

This is the best clam chowder I’ve ever had. It is a tiny hole in the wall off the beaten path. The food is excellent. I order the clam chowder and a crab sandwich — both are fantastic. Be prepared that there is only outdoor seating on picnic tables. This place is all about the food and there are often lines. It is well worth it.

This is most definitely the tastiest crab cakes I have ever had! The clam chowder is good too. A little pricier than I had expected, and tucked into bodega bay, which was a long detour for us(heading to Napa from SF), but totally worth it.

We had the Clam Chowder, it’s as good as everyone claims. Probably the best we’ve ever had, the staff was friendly and very polite. limited parking, and only a small area to eat, but a great way to meet new friends!

Yum Yum Yum. Came here and had a cup of clam chowder and a crab sandwich. I wish they would serve it on sour dough, but to keep costs down, they serve it on a toasted sweet roll. I always come by for some seafood when i’m somewhat in the area.

Sign says best clam chowder on the coast. We both had the clam chowder, and the sign appears to be correct. I also had the crab sandwich, which in many ways was equivalent to the lobster roll type of food you get along the coast of Maine. Feeling incredibly satisfied and fulfilled. We will be back. Not a lot of seating, but if you get there before 11:15 am, you can find a seat easily and the line is not too long yet.

Best clam chowder on the Sonoma Coast for 9 years running. We just don’t get by here often enough!

Absolutely my favorite clam chowder, it’s a bit of drive. It’s not a big place and parking is touch and sometimes non existent with new parking signs.

We were very glad we stopped in for a cup of the infamous chowder. It is rich and creamy full of flavour. I really enjoyed it but for me, I found it just a bit thin. Also, comparing the two portions we had, mine was a little short of goodies compared to the other, i. e not as much potatoes and clam chunks. Small points but at $ 7 a cup one can be picky right :-). Really glad we made the trip and sitting outside on communal picnic benches made it even better. They had a guitarist playing some lite jazz in the background making it a perfect day. The sourdough bread was excellent, too bad one can only buy the load versus just a ‘chunk’, but it gives you something for tomorrow’s breakfast I guess.

This place isn’t bad. I ordered the crab sandwich. I figured a place with crab in its name must have good crab. The crab was fresh; so fresh in fact a piece of the shell was still in the salad. Though I believed it to have been a little over priced for what I received, and in my opinion a little weak in flavor. The other person I was with ordered the clam chowder. He said the flavor was different, but a good kind of different. Parking is limited, but even in a bobtail we were able to find a place to park.

We’ve all been searching far and wide on the California Coast for the ever elusive«BESTCLAMCHOWDER» and, friends, Californians, tourists… Spud Point holds the championship title belt. This is my favorite spot to take people to wow them. I can’t seem to go more than a few months before I start craving this particular clam chowder and crab sandwich miracle combination. My favorite thing to do is grab it to go and head on up to Bodega Head on the cliffs and eat it at the picnic tables and watch the waves(Now I’ve given away all my not so secret secrets). I can always trust that they have everything I need in the bag-spoons, napkins, and oyster crackers, every time. But do yourself a favor and get the crab sandwich along with it. I mean it.

Location: it’s a little out of the way from downtown Bodega Bay, but it has a nice view of the boats. It’s in a residential area so there is limited parking. You can park in the guest parking in the Spud Point Marina, across the street. Food: the crab cakes are only sold on the weekend on a first come first serve basis. Will try this next time! The clam chowder is amazing — very fresh and tastes like heaven. The crab sandwich is delicious and is chock full of fresh crab. I like how they don’t include fillers(lettuce, tomato, etc) that take up room in the sandwich. There is usually a long line but fast service. Very limited outdoor seating available in front of the restaurant. Tip: they now have a «clam chowder only» express line to appease the visitors who came only for the«2016 first place best clam chowder»!

MYSONISINLOVE. as well as I… Your business is the best, I feel you use thyme in the soup as your secret ingredient. But today was pefect, no line, bought 3 orders of clam chowder and we are sad we can’t take the whole restaurant home. Truly soul savory food! So blessed

Amidst a sleepy little fishing village lies a little lunch shack. It’s busy with people, but the line moves quickly. The workers are borderline crabby, but not rude, just what you’d expect from a little fisherman village. The menu is simple, clam chowder, crab sandwiches and crab cakes. The location is great, as it lies right below the bodega dunes hiking area. After a long day of hiking, you can come down the hill and warm your insides with a bowl of soup. There isn’t much parking, people park along the road in a no parking zone, but there doesn’t seem to be many meter maids in these parts. Out of the 15 cars, no one got a ticket. We were in a party of 7 and we received our food within 10 minutes. However, we were missing a sandwich and forced to produce our receipt when we inquired to the staff about it. They gave the sandwich to us right away. The food: clam chowder is the best I’ve had, hands down, ever. The crab sandwich was delicious. If you are looking for a quick delicious meal, this is the place to go.

What a great little crab shack. Sad that crab season this year is off in the Bay, but would love to come back here once we can get local crab again. Stopped by here for a quick lunch after spending a few hours at a nearby day spa. We had one of each of the chowders(red and white), the bay shrimp cocktail, and the crab sandwich. The white chowder was fantastic. Both the red and white are garlicky as other reviewers have noted, but especially the red. Not sure how the raw garlic flavor is so strong even after stewing in those hot pots. The bay shrimp were fresh and sweet. Crab sandwich was good as well. Sweet crab on a simple roll with their louis sauce. Only downside is the outdoor only seating. Could be hard to eat if there are strong winds. Will definitely stop by here again when we’re in the area.

This is a no frills spot to get tasty chowder. I love the red chowder as it is naturally gluten free and crazy delicious. It is chunky with tomatoes, crab, and clams, potatoes, and garlic. Let me tell you the garlic is intense on this one, so if you want to protect your breath skip this tasty treat. If you are attempting this spot on a whim just know it gets packed quickly but the line ebbs and flows. There is communal seating out front and on the side of the building. First come first served. They’ve added a quick service line for those who only want chowder and bread. It’s to the left of the main shop and cash only. The bread looks AMAZING. It’s Franco American bread and a giant crusty loaf of goodness that would be perfect for dipping in chowder. I love to get the crab cocktail with their house sauce. All the goodies on the crab sandwich without the bread. The roll for the sandwiches is not as luscious looking as the loaf for purchase, FYI. In season this place is a great spot for live, fresh crab.

I keep coming back to Spud Point for a very good reason. Their small location is a quintessential crab shack on the west shore of Bodega Bay and uses fresh local seafood to make basic, but excellent food. Weekends can be crazy busy, but this place is wonderfully easy on a weekday. There is no parking at the restaurant, so you will have to walk a bit to get here. The layout is simple. Limited outdoor seating only with counter service inside. They are famous for their clam chowder which contains a lot of garlic and bacon. I love this, but the flavor may be too much for some. Their crab sandwich is the real star here with fresh sweet crab delicately tossed with a light sauce served on a toasted bun. I will drive here just for this sandwich, especially on a cold winter day when the Dungeness is in season. I lack the patience to wait until 1:00PM to sample the crab cakes, but maybe one day. My recommendation is to grab your food and continue down the road to Bodega Head and a great view of the Pacific Ocean. Life is just better watching the waves crash against the shore while devouring some of the best crab in the area.

Drove in on a rainy day to try the clam chowder. The large bowl/cup was much appreciated, very garlicky and buttery, with big pieces of clam. I was pretty full from eating a half dozen oysters next door at Fisherman’s Cove but it really hit the spot. Outdoor seating only, which when raining gets a bit tricky. Not too busy due to the weather and it being a midsummer-weekday. I’m glad I tried the chowder here, if I had more room I’d try the crab too.
