Lucile’s continues to stand out as my number 1 breakfast/brunch place in Boulder. The restaurant itself is an adorable house renovated into a restaurant with white trim. The décor inside is very friendly and features interesting New Orleans themed artwork. The food will change your life. Highly recommend starting with the chicory coffee and beignets for the table. The pastries are perfectly golden brown and doused in powdered sugar; a perfect complement to the chicory coffee! I’ve ordered the Cajun breakfast, eggs New Orleans, and the gumbo, and I’ve never been disappointed. For breakfast I highly suggest anything that comes with the poached eggs and the deliciously flavorful hollandaise sauce. Can’t go wrong with the potatoes and grits. And make sure you try the buttermilk biscuit with the house made jam and/or apple butter! It’s HUGE and every bite reaffirms its deliciousness. Can’t say enough good things about Lucile’s. I’ll be back very soon!

Love this place. I love that it’s such a cute little restaurant. We drove all the way to Boulder to try out this little gem yesterday. We sat in the porch area. We ordered the beignets, New Orleans with jalapeño cheddar grits and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp and jalapeño cheddar grits. Our dishes were so delicious. The servings are really big too so I wasn’t able to finish my food, which I normally do. I hope to visit again when I’m back in Colorado.

Sweet, funky place that feels like the clock stopped in 1979. Staff is easy-going and helpful with any questions. The menu has everything you could want for breakfast or brunch and plenty of choices. We had iced tea that was an herbal blend with a yummy kick. No caffeine but really a stout blend. Both of us had Benedict Jennifer’s and they were perfect. Eggs were poached and runny, all ingredients fresh and the avocado was ripe and tasty. Lucile’s also has local art for sale and it really spices up the place. Find this little house, it’s been here for a long time and is a Boulder staple.

All the food was delicious, but their poached eggs were perfection. Cozy atmosphere perfect for a nice breakfast date.

When I was a CU student in the 80s, Boulder was full of fantastic breakfast restaurants — The Aristocrat Steak House, Rocky Mt. Joe’s, Mother’s Café(now Dot’s Diner on the Hill) to name a few, and many others. Lucile’s Creole Restaurant was a stalwart on the Boulder breakfast /brunch scene back then, with people lined up out the door to get a seat at one of the very few tables in this converted Victorian style home. It is the last remainder of those great Boulder breakfast joints from the Reagan era(I’m sure there are some new ones). The menu features some great, traditional Creole starters and sides that are a little unusual in this neck of the woods(spicy Cajun and Andouille sausage, collard greens, grits, red beans, and the obligatory Beignets, for example) and some really interesting breakfast dishes — Eggs Sardou(Eggs Benedict with steamed spinach) Eggs Pontchartrain(Eggs Benedict with pan-fired trout instead of English muffins), sausage gravy on biscuits with red beans and grits, and other delectable breakfast items. I’ve probably had something other than Eggs Pontchartrain in my dozen or so visits to this location, but don’t remember having done so — as soon as I’ve decided to head to Boulder and Lucile’s I know what my main breakfast course is going to be. Excellent in-house roasted coffee and orange juice fresh-squeezed by your server(be patient) round out a fantastic and rather unusual breakfast at this place. In 30+ years, I’ve never been disappointed by the food, the atmosphere or the service(which can be kinda slow, but is always pleasant and helpful). The Littleton and Denver locations are also excellent, but this one is the best, due to the charm of being in that little old house.

This place is TINY. I already always feel like an amazon woman, but when the hostess kindly suggested in the direction of our table, I was like… gurrrr… you cray… but I didn’t, I kept it to myself and apologized repeatedly as I swiped my ass in front of the two folks I had to scoot by to get to my itty-bitty-skinny-girl-wooden chair, in which both of my butt cheeks hung off on each side. Trying to get the coat off and scarf off and put my purse somewhere that wasn’t in my lap was a chore too, hoping not to knock someone’s block off with my elbows. and the little matchbox table was stuffed with Lucile’s sauces and jellies and butt juices they’re oh so proud of, there’s no room for your coffee and plate when they bring it to you… I do have to say the jelly was good. The sauce-salsa stuff… mmmm, well, I’m a Mexican American currently residing in Texas, I forgive Lucile. I can respect the effort.(ADD moment, where are all the Mexicans in boulder anyway, was I the only one there? I think so.) The food is okay, you can’t really mess up scrambled eggs can you? Well, I guess you can but it was okay, the collard greens and the spinach were extremely salty… and I tried my husband’s trout and poached eggs with grits. The fish was really good but the rest of it was crazy salty. **Cack** Anyhow, I really like to have a nice conversation when I dine, or at least be able to make snarky comments without every word being heard… everyone’s conversation was up for listening grabs… I would have the chai here again! That’s about it. To go. Forget that Alice and Wonderland stuff.

Love this place! Great cajun breakfast place(yes they have beignets! Though not quite the same as New Orleans). They have a great selection of dishes, all with a cajun influence. The biscuits are huge and delicious! They are perfect to pair with the homemade jam found on each table. Very cool atmosphere as it’s in an old house. Patio seating is quite lovely when it’s nice out, highly recommend it. Wait staff has always been great and make you feel comfortable. It’s a must!

It’s an adorable little restaurant with small cramped tables and tons of noise. This place packs a waiting list every weekend. The food is overly rich and lacking in fine quality or presentation. The coffee is low grade and not like Ozos or Boxcar. The servers are lacking training and ours spilled cream on the floor, on my pants leg and on the table. Probably because the place is packed and crowded and full of fun and energetic people. The beignets are Cajun style, which makes them like a sopapilla. Nothing like French beignets, which are delightful clouds of heaven’s angelic bliss. My breakfast was overly rich. Maybe I just don’t like Cajun breakfasts. Its pretty ok as breakfasts go. Not worth the hype.

Simple and Sweet Hands down one of the best breakfasts i’ve had. Its a shame i live in Cali and this is in Boulder Colorado #sadlife Their breakfast is pretty much american with a cajun flare. I would say the must order item is pretty much anything on that menu because everything just looks so enticing! I think everything also comes with their amazing 1lb biscuit. To compliment their biscuit, they make homemade rhubarb jam, apple butter, and strawberry jam. The biscuit is so flaky and it just brings a tear to my eye that this place isn’t closer to California. I got the creole omelet with half potatoes and half grits and everything was tasty. To finish up the meal our group ordered beignets. It was so good and what made it even better is they also offer chicory coffee so being the foodie of the group i felt obligated to order it and it really did compliment the beignets well! Next time I’m back in Boulder, I’m for sure hitting this place up again!

Love this place, come here a few times a year and also get the hot sauce and delicious ketchup for my own fridge. Wait staff is friendly and not too stressed even when it’s super busy on the weekend. It’s good to come as early as you can, past 9.30am you’ll have a wait time that’s up to an hour. Prices are reasonable, location is great. It is harder for groups larger than six to get a table here.

So. Freaking. Good. I had the Eggs New Orleans and the SO had the Eggs Jennifer. Both plates satisfied is beyond what we were expecting. We also had beignets and split my biscuit, which both were delicious. Wish we came here sooner! Will definitely be visiting again!

Food here is AMAZING. We got the Eggs Benedict and the Waffle, and both were great. Pretty rich food, so prepare. Customer service wasn’t as good as expecting, our waitress checked up every once and a while but then would disappear for large periods of time. Highly recommend, one of the best brunch spots in Boulder!

It’s been a while since I was in Lucile’s, but only because I forget it’s here and there are so many places to eat in Boulder! The food is wonderful and filling though, so I will remember to head over there again soon. The service can be spotty when it’s busy. I used to come regularly for Sunday brunch, with my young children and family(my kids are now in their late 20s), but all the kids(mine and the nieces and nephews) started complaining about the long wait to get in, and to get our food, so we stopped coming. Also, you could be waiting a long time to just get your bill! The long waits wouldn’t be so bad if they’d at least offer drinks while we waited(especially their yummy coffee. milk or juice for the kids, or a mimosa for the adults), and maybe some of their beignes for the kiddos(alright, for me as well, I admit I adore them). You’d think on busy days they’d get their wait staff to step it up, or maybe the problem is in the kitchen(?), but whatever the issue is, they wouldn’t loose clients if they could turn over the tables a bit faster, especially when there are so many other places to get an excellent breakfast, brunch or lunch.

I had not been to Lucile’s for quite a few years, discouraged by the long wait on weekends. Since my friend and I wanted to have breakfast during the week, we decided to give it a try. I am glad we did! The place was still quite busy, but we got a table without any wait(plus you can call ahead and put your name on the list during the week to make sure you won’t wait). The food is as good as I remembered it and the portions still huge. I had the Creole omelet, generously stuffed with spicy sausage and diced ham in creole sauce, served with a huge buttermilk biscuit and tasty potatoes(or you can choose grits.) Even the chicory coffee was surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because I remember my grandparents in France looking down on what they considered a cheap alternative to their java made from a plant that has nothing to do with coffee and that they were forced to drink as a substitute for coffee during the war when it was a very rare and expensive commodity. I will go back to Lucile’s when craving a good breakfast… during the week.

When my friends and family ask, «What’d you do on your last day in Colorado?» I look them in their collective eye, and say, unflinchingly, «I had a threesome with my wife and Lucile.» And they nervously laugh, but my expression stays chiseled in granite. I then put on a hat(where’d that thing come from?), tip the brim, and walk off towards the sunset. I’d return, though; I forgot my keys. A bountiful biscuit prefaced my Eggs New Orleans, which swaps English muffins for lightly fried eggplant and sides that mamba with buttery grits.(Or potatoes, or a little of both.) It’s at once delicate and substantial, loaded with texture and reasonably seasoned. A few dashes of hot sauce on the overcooked grits, and you’ve got a breakfast built for two. The only reason I teeter down on a 4.5 rating is the odd lack of energy in the house. Satchmo on vinyl, du Monde beignets, mismatched, ragtag napkins, and fresh jams(plus apple butter!) on each table — Lucile’s offers a wonderful brunch before saying Bye Felicia to the Centennial State.

Arguably, the best breakfast I’ve had(creole omelette) while travelling. If only the service(at table and checkout desk) were even upto par, my 5 stars would beckon. Our waiter must have returned after an afternoon nap to refill coffee and the checkout ‘clerk’ served up an attitude dating back to the days of apartheid. «What, no like serving brown people?» I get the wait times for this highly rated Unilocalers mecca, but does the food have to be tainted with lousy service? Me thinks owner needs attention.

Long wait, but worth it! The place is small(and a bit too snug), but there’s a clear reason why people will wait 50 minutes for breakfast. We sat at a shared table with 2 strangers, which was kinda weird, but it knocked 20 minutes off our reservation. The other party was friendly, and we were all excited to eat! The food came out quick! I had the pain perdu = sausage, egg, French toast, and fruit. combine that with the homemade syrup and jams, and you’re having a good time. I left with an empty plate.

Fluffy, buttery biscuits and airy beignets with robust Haitian coffee and filling breakfast entrees. What more could you ask for? I love this place!

The only complaint I have is that the biscuits are too big! We had breakfast here, and everything was devine. We had a full french press coffee and their chai lattes – well done and flavorful. My taste buds prefer a not-as-sweet chai, but no complaints here. Then we enjoyed their french toast(delicious classic, with PRALINESAUCE), eggs benedict, creole omelette(plenty of protein), eggs jennifer(light, well balanced), and salmon dish(decent fish). My creole omelette made me crave for some greens, but their grits helped balance out the meal. Their beignets are not close to Du Monde’s, but they are a close comparison for those who miss the taste of New Orleans. Another plus: variety of fruit jams for your biscuits, and praline syrup instead of maple(!!!). And service was quick, clear, and hospitable. It’s certainly no NOLA original, but for a creole diner in CO, it’s close enough to satisfy nostalgia.

Recomendado 100%

Coming from CO, it sometimes nice having a yummy Southern/Creole style breakfast. Having eaten at Lucille’s twice, I’m very pleased with my trips there. The meal was delicious and the dining setting was intimate(even during breakfast). And I would like to note that the wait time I experienced was not bad at all. On my most recent adventure to Lucille’s, I had the Cajun breakfast. It was priced at $ 8.20 during the time that I went. For starters, we received a nice, flaky biscuit. The biscuit was quite large and it was complimentary! It tastes wonderful to try this biscuit with butter. In regards to the breakfast, I thought that the eggs were poached quite well and that the hollandaise was great. It was rich and full bodied, with a nice acidic component. If you’re looking for a nice Southern breakfast/brunch, give Lucille’s a try. It’s pretty yummy! And I hope that you’ll like your experience there!
