Sumida’s is one of the best kept sushi secrets in Boulder. In my opinion, the sushi is of the same quality and freshness as Tora and Zanmai, but less expensive and the chances of getting a seat at the sushi bar without a wait are much greater. The chefs and wait staff are generally friendly and prompt, but Charlie is exceptional. Sit at the bar the next time Charlie is working and ask him for his recommendations. He’ll take good care of you and you’ll be back!

Sumida’s has been my fave sushi bar for the past several years. After an evening cycling up Flagstaff or a hard work out at the gym, the fresh sushi and friendly service is a healthy way to enjoy a post work out bliss. Charlie doesn’t need to see my order to know that I am thinking about miso soup, 8 hamachi, a Rocky Mtn. Roll and a large Sapporo. I am baffled by the reviews that appear on this site, it sounds like those folks were at a different restaurant. Sumida’s lacks the small servings, high prices, and flash of some local spots, because it is a solid neighborhood restaurant. I love Sumida’s.

Proof that I’m a karmically deprived person… Drove to Boulder for a CU performance and had 1 hour to get something to eat before the show. My wife and I are trying to figure out where to go when she says, «There are lots of good restaurants in Boulder. Just drive around and I know your karma will get us to a good one.» Confident in my karmic abilities I stop at Sumida’s and we hit the sushi bar. Turns out my karma’s in need of some serious work. The servers and and the sushi chefs were nice. The food, not so. My advice, spare your spiritual self the disillusionment. Avoid Sumida’s.

Oh my… I only joined Unilocal for this restaurant. OK! I did it!!! I went during happy hour! I currently find myself in a financially challenging situation and decided after class I would give the dollar rolls a try. First off, they aren’t rolls they are pieces so if you order 6 pieces its no deal at all. Secondly I am Italian and I can roll a better sushi roll than that! It fell apart because he set it down on the table to hard!!! I could NOT believe the service. It was 4 and I am the only person in here, currently! My server forgot absolutely everything that I ordered which was: miso, ginger salad and a spicy tuna roll in soy paper. I kept having to remind him after he brought the salad that I had a sushi roll with Soy paper then after that(30 minutes) that I had ordered miso also. I ate one piece of the roll and told him to throw the rest away. The table was dirty as well oh and so was the bottom of my plate– crusted with what I imagine to be old wasabi and soy sauce, pUKE! Anyways, do yourself a favor and save the $ 4 dollars on «dollar rolls» and go to Sushi Tora or zanmi or even Hapa. Its not good for kids or groups because its not good for anyone!

OK, I’m in the«avoid the cheap sushi crowd» here, along with the other Unilocalers. I’m also fortunate enough to have tempted fate, partaking of their Happy Hour specials and had never gotten sick. Apparently, in recent years I’ve aged and gotten a bit wiser about such things… The odd thing is, this used to actually be a separate small restaurant(run/owned by Siamese) downstairs from the Siamese Plate. But now it’s just a small sushi bar depressingly squeezed into the same space as Siamese upstairs, which seems pretty odd to me. Who decides to eat here or order take-out?

Do not go here. The Sushi is terrible quality. The rice poorly made. The chefs poorly trained. The waiter was terrible, extremely rude(not sure why I’m beating around the bush here, he was a complete asshole). Easily the worst sushi in boulder.

Arguably the worst Sushi restaurant in Boulder. Then again they do sell Nigiri rolls for $ 1.00, so maybe it is my fault for being a cheap bastard =). The Tuna tasted old, but the salmon was pretty fresh. Anyhow, skip the sushi here. On a side note, they have $ 2 Sake and Sapporo on Sunday and Monday.
