Mediocre food. Not very clean restaurant or employees. If you’re going to boast about having vegetarian and gf options you should be sure that I don’t find a hunk of chicken in the bottom of my boulder veggie bowl after telling you I was a vegetarian. Doesn’t say much for their ability to keep the meat away from the veg. Gross.

Pleasantly surprised. I had visited TJ’s many years ago and was not impressed. I went with my Daughter this weekend and it was darn good. I got a Mahi bowl. I think that’s what it was called. I would have given it 5 stars, but the Mahi was a bit overcooked and the cashier was clueless when asked some simple questions. My bowl was tasty, though. I’ll go back.

Absolutely horrible food. Bland as anything can be. Staff is very friendly and they’ve done nothing to incite this review from me. Its just that the food is so bland and yucky. also slimy. Cant find enough words

I love the create a bowl idea and you get a good amount for a regular, but overall it was just«meh». The California rolls were absolutely terrible and a huge disappointment. The meat they used tasted off, maybe it was just that batch? I don’t know, but for the price I was expecting something better.

Don’t do it. The staff is really nice. And it ends there. The rice is a solid mass of something barely resembling rice. Wrapped around a tiny piece of tuna… with barely anything else as described. Basically, the rice ruins it. Super disappointed… very different than the LA Tokyo Joes… I’d post a picture but it doesn’t let me. the picture is worth a thousand words!

I’ve been here twice and both times the food was good while I was eating it, but not worth it after I got food poisoning… Haven’t been back in a while. Probably never will be…

Now that I’m not working in Boulder, I will miss Tokyo Joe’s. It was fast, healthy, and near where I worked. They also had outdoor seating which was nice. I never was brave enough to try the sushi; it feels weird to order such a high-end item from a fast-casual dining establishment, but the bowls were great.

Disappointed! This is Boulder! Produce expectations are higher for me in Boulder, I’ll admit. I got the Lettuce Wraps to-go and had to eat a couple bites before leaving. The lettuce was soggy, wilted and brown on a few different leaf wraps. The avocado was rock hard(this is July, why are they rock hard?). So bummed, because every single time I’ve eaten at the Louisville CO location, it’s been consistently fresh and top-notch.

I work around the corner so Tokyo Joes is convinent to eat. Sushi is great and so are the spring rolls. Also if they dont have your favorite kind of sushi on the menu they might make it for you anyway;) only complaint i have is the STRAWS. They always break lol

The noodles were alright, but the sushi was TERRIBLE. Worst sushi I’ve ever had.

In terms of fast-food Asian restaurants, this one does the job. I’m sure it’s more Americanized, but it also totes healthy and nutritious cooking which is a plus. Tokyo Joe’s reminded me of the Chipotle of Asian food. It’s inexpensive, quick, and the food is good. I’ve tried a couple of the noodle bowls and the lettuce wraps. The sauces are the best part in my opinion. The Yakitori was my favorite. They also have udon noodles which is a good because not all places serve that. If you’re more of a sushi fan they also have some rolls that sounded good, although I haven’t tried any yet. One dish is definitely enough to fill you up and it’s a tasty meal for under $ 10.

We love this Colorado fast food chain. Normally I give fast food sushi the side eye, but joes has good, fresh sushi that is tasty. I also really like the yakitori bowl. It has lots of veggies and local white chicken. Also if you are a student they have a happy hour where if you bring in your Id you get a free drink. Which is great.

I was so excited to get some sushi that I created expectations… shame on me! I know it was fresh prep but it tasted like they went to Kroger, bought 4 pieces, came back and served them up on a plate as fresh… stale and tasteless… the rice was bad even… I will say that the redeeming thing was the chicken satay… the peanut sauce is AMAZING! I will go back for that, hopefully it will allow for repeat redemption! Oh yah, no wi-fi either… that was a deal buster fro two people in out party of 4…

During my recent visit, I was really disappointed to find that the menu has changed. You now have to pay extra for vegetables which I find to be highly disappointing. For $ 8 I want vegetables included in my meal, especially since that is what I’ve come to enjoy. I love that they serve wild salmon, but unfortunately it’s not enough to get me to return. I’d much rather order from the Greens and Grains Bar at Whole Foods for $ 5 then come back to Tokyo Joe’s.

Great food for a reasonable price. Sushi wasn’t fresh off the plane, but I don’t expect that. It was delicious and the salad was enormous. Very clean, friendly. Great restaurant!

Great for a quick lunch or dinner. Bowls are priced well and you can pretty much always eat for under $ 10. Portions are good-sized. I have trouble finishing a regular bowl, but the leftovers heat up nicely for a second-lunch or snack. Meats and veggies are fresh and the sauces are delicious(love the spicyaki). I really like their brown rice, too. It’s actually done right — I find that at other places it’s either really mushy or dry and crunchy. I’m also happy to support a local(ish) Colorado business whenever possible.

5 stars on the food that comes out as ordered: quick food that includes brown rice, low fat protein, steamed veggies, and healthy sauces. Yum. My favorite: Brown rice + tofu or chicken + double veggies + yakitori sauce. 3 stars for the times that my food comes out wrong: a paltry dab of sauce in the large sauce container for takeout, the rotten lettuce leaves in the salad, the wrong kind of sauce or dressing(so many times), a loooooong wait for food. It’s still one of my top picks for quick, healthy food on the go. I just check the bag very very very carefully before I leave… or I suffer the consequences. BTW: if you’re looking for good sushi, go to a sushi restaurant. If you’re looking for fast, perfectly acceptable sushi, TJ’s is fine. Or Whole Foods. Why would you expect anything brilliant to come out of a fast food restaurant?

Walked in, looked at the menu, walked out. It smells like a dirty cafeteria in here, and I’m not adventurous or monied enough to take a chance on cafeteria sushi. I guess the gluten-free thing is cool if you have dietary restrictions, but not my thing.

Tokyo Joe’s is one of my favorite quick lunch/dinner places. I suppose I use Tokyo Joe’s like the rest of America uses Wendy’s or Burger King. I like it because it’s fast but not fried, and I can get dishes with fresh veggies. My favorite are the spring rolls – I just get a couple orders and call it dinner(get the chicken, since the shrimp have hardly any shrimp at all). I like the lettuce wraps, too. Keep in mind that it IS fast food. You order at the counter, don’t get a server, fill your own drinks, etc. It’s not a place you go for romantic ambiance or the best sushi in town. I also like TJ’s because they provide ingredient lists and most of the staff is knowledgeable about allergens. Just be aware that if you go during a busy time and make a special allergen-free order, they might screw it up. Better to go on off-times if possible. The staff isn’t particularly engaging, but no one’s ever been rude.

Can you drown an eel? I haven’t set foot in a Tokyo Joe’s in 7 or 8 years. No particular reason, I’m not TJ’s averse. There are just other places that come to mind faster than TJ’s. I ordered the Unagi bowl w/brown rice about $ 8. If I had known they were going to try to drown my eel in the Teriyaki sauce, I would have asked to put the sauce on the side. The flavor was overpowering. And for my taste, I’d like more rice please. The sunomomo(cucumber salad) that comes with, is tangy and tasty and slightly sweet, but not necessarily the best accompaniment to the teriyaki. Now that I’ve refreshed on the menu, and know to ask for sauce on the side, I’ll be back to re-test the other items on the menu.
