Stands up to the hype! Great service– very attentive, didn’t hurt that he was cute. Had the pork tacos and they were delicious. Also enjoyed the house-made chips and salsa– yum!

We had a fantastic experience at Zolo Grill! We immediately noticed how busy the dining room was on this particular evening, but received top notch attentive service regardless. Two of us had the chicken enchiladas, and they were delicious. The third tried the pork chop, which was also very well received. We will be back soon!

This is the WORST«Mexican» restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life. NOTHING that I ate had any flavor and my dinner companion agreed. HOWDOYOURUN A MEXICANRESTAURANTWITHFOODTHATHASNOFLAVOR. The salsa tasted like straight tomatoes. The beans looked and tasted like a watery mush. We were served cold tortilla chips with our salsa and guacamole. What Mexican restaurant does that? Save yourself the time and some money by not coming here. Ran next door to Tokyo Joes to satisfy my empty stomach.

Zolo’s has a fabulous happy hour. I really like the variety in the menu and reasonable drink prices. I think their guacamole is some of the best I’ve ever had — same with the chips. I keep forgetting about this place so I have to remember and go back there more often because I really like it! The waitstaff is very attentive and the food is always delivered fresh– same with the drinks.

So so so good! Went on a Friday– initially a 30 minute wait but ended up being about 15. Food exceeded expectations! I don’t usually like Mexican unless it’s top notch and it was! We got a bunch of small plates– empanadas, butternut squash chili soup, Caesar salad, seared trout, chorizo. would recommend all of them. Very fresh! My Margarita was strong .and a little too much sugar for me. but I drank it all so I can’t really complain :) Don’t live in Boulder but I would go back again when visiting.

I really enjoyed Zolo. Everything from the service to the food. The restaurant is colorful in every since if the word: from the proverbial colorful menu full of spicy and fresh dishes to the exciting and inviting décor that really makes you want a zesty, fresh margarita and delicious bowl of guacamole! After tasting their salsa sampler and mashed-in-house guacamole, I knew I wanted to try their special — duck tacos. I’d never had duck tacos before and was instantly intrigued. Though interesting, the flavor almost seemed out of place. I guess I prefer my tacos with chicken or beer. Nevertheless, the meat was well cooked, moist and certainly tasty. The rest of the Southwest inspired menu boasts dishes like the cucumber-avocado gazpacho and Smoked Trout Tostado definitely appeals to my culinary tastes, so I’ll be back for sure! Plus, with a serene view of mountains from their patio, I could really see this restaurant being a wonderful place to grab a drink at end of a long day or to kick off a fun weekend!

Overpriced Americanized Mexican food. I had the tortilla soup, side of rice and beans, and my boyfriend had the fish tacos. Pros: service was great. Everyone was super friendly and they were attentive to our needs. Ambiance gets a 3.5 out of 5. Cons: tortilla soup was bland. Tasted like tomato soup with large chunks of avocado, tortillas and peppers thrown in. There was no chicken or lime. I had to add salt, pepper and hot sauce to add some flavor. The fish tacos were ok, nothing special. You have to pay for chips and salsa. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place. It only gets 2 stars for the ambiance and service.

I have been eating here for 20 years. If you have read my previous reviews, you will see that they change up the menu from time to time and though I miss my old standards, they come up with new exciting things too. Just for a reference point, please check their promotional material on their website«About Us» and you will see they are a creative Southwest New American Grill and not a Mexican restaurant, and never have been. They are influenced by many Latin and Central American cuisines and this varies from year to year. My new favorite item this summer is the cucumber avocado gazpacho with chile oil and cilantro and a scoop of beet/chile sorbet. So popular that they occasionally run out on a busy day. My favorite BBQ Duck tacos(Mon dinner special) have been tweaked a bit, whether intentionally or just a new chef but it is a little different than before. I do not always have room for dessert, but there is always something I would like. Though I have been known to get some small plates for dinner just to save room for a special dessert. Prices are competitive with other restaurants of this quality and style in Boulder. Being out of the Pearl area and closer to campus in the Village shopping center, parking is free and fairly easy. Service is always good. Good drinks, rotating selection of local beers and forever(I hope) the original passion fruit iced tea.

This eatery has a good one for a strip mall location. Good variety in menu. We had the salsa sampler; Thea go habanero was sweet and not too spicy. The trout tostada was surprisingly smoky. The mango frsca was a nice surprise. Basic kids menu but the empanada appetizer works well for kids. Thanks!

We came here for dinner and decided to sit at the patio which was a good decision on our part. The weather was great and the patio is cute. I decided to order the red sangria and for starters the trout tostadas. The sangria was not good — and since my fubby(future husband) got a margarita, I asked him if we can trade since I liked the margarita better. The tostadas were good but they were practically three small bites so it was barely an appetizer. We then shared the tamales with barbecue pork. I highly recommend the tamales. It was really good. Service was good as well, but the check was a little on the high side.

So disappointed when I came to Zolo on Memorial Day weekend. We waited an hour, and by then it had cleared out a lot. Once seated I ordered a beverage which wasn’t served until after my entrée was served, I then had to ask for a refill which I didn’t receive until after dinner was over. We had to ask for all water refills etc. Just really poor service for a restaurant of that caliber and disappointing when I so rarely have the whole family out together. Won’t be returning anytime soon. They got two stars because my party enjoyed their food. Can’t believe my review from over a year ago comments on how slow the bar service is and still nothing has changed! Kind of pathetic for what you’re paying, and it didn’t help that the server didn’t say any kind remarks when she dropped the bill off after we had paid… I’ve been in the restaurant industry, it takes two seconds to say thanks!

There is no life before Zolo life. Went here with some friends and family to check it out, we were glad we did the moment the chips and cheese hit the table. The food here is amazing. It is well done and the combinations are heavenly. Fish tacos, enchiladas, glazed chicken, all of the appetizers. Cant really go wrong with anything, and they even went out of the way to make an awesome vegan dish for a party member. You can tell the chef takes pride in the work and the staff was amazing. They have a great selection of beer and drinks as well, and the dessert menu is awesome too. Go here. Be not afraid, Reap the bountiful goodness of the cuisine and rejoice.

Meh over priced and it’s nothing special. I had the duck tacos. They weren’t that great. The drinks are ok. I had a Herra and another house drink and they weren’t that great. Nothing was bad but nothing stood out.

One of our favorite places in Boulder. The coin margaritas are excellent as are the chips and guacamole. The prices are a little high, but this Boulder… What do you expect! The dinners are very good and the service is usually very attentive! Enjoy!

We went there for the husbands work. The atmosphere was nice, though a bit pretentious and loud. We were at a party of 6 and at times could not hear each other due to the noise of other tables. The service was good and the food was decent, though a bit expensive for Southwest food, which is basically a take off Mexican.

Love the happy hour everyday, outdoor patio on a sunny day. Great selection of tequila including my favourite Casa Noble. Service at Zolo is excellent, they have food and drink runners … they are smart enough to not let you wait. Will be back to try the regular menu.
