Kate’s has a convenient location and is great for pumping out food for pick up extra fast but that’s about it. We ordered the 1⁄3 pound lobster roll from here(cost a steep $ 31) and the large fried clams($ 25). The lobster roll was good but nothing incredible. When I asked if my roll could be toasted the cashier was like okay… I guess I’ll ask the chef. How about you just freaking do it?! It’s not a hard request and if you are putting lettuce and tomato in my lobster roll I would prefer a lightly toasted bun so my lobster roll isn’t soggy. The fries that came with my lobster roll had absolutely no salt on them. I threw them away after trying a couple fries. The fried clams were pretty tasty but then again it’s pretty hard to mess up fried clams. I wasn’t too keen on the service. When I made a comment to my father in law about the price of the 1⁄3 pound lobster roll the cashier started to say something like ‘well that’s why I asked if you wanted the ½ pound or 1⁄3 pound’. I was not talking to you, cashier. Mind your own business and give me my food. Thank you, I will not come again.

Great Ice Cream & waffle ‘bowls’. They had handmade the waffle cones in something resembling a taco bowl, great for ice cream. Ice cream is great handmade & i cant get enough of. The employees were super polite and helpfull. If your working at an ice cream place your going to have to be patient with so many indecisive customers.

The reason I’m giving this place 3 instead of 5 stars is because my grilled chicken sandwich, which cost $ 7.00 and comes w/no side, contained a tiny 2 ½ ounce piece of chicken… Be warned if you get this sandwich it’s basically a plain mouthful of bread, lettuce, and tomato. I know it’s the Cape and things are more expensive but if you’re going to charge $ 7.00 for a grilled chicken sandwich the piece of chicken should be within reason. The onion rings(sm-$ 4.49) were very tasty. I also got the Black Raspberry Chip frozen yogurt(sm-$ 3.99) which was very good. I will return in the future, but will most likely not purchase the grilled chicken sandwich.

Great roadside sea food, large portions. Not right on 6a so not a lot of road noise. I got the lobster roll, very good, and chowder also good. Was with a large group no complaints. But no bathrooms at a restaurant??? Was told there’s a fire station couple minutes drive down the road.

Mainly just come here for their ice cream and man it’s a great option for a treat after a good bike ride! The bike ride helps with the whole guilt factor of eating the ice cream, but regardless, it’s a solid place! Can’t vouch for the food but during the summer it gets swarmed and numbers usually don’t lie. Stop on by for a tasty treat or some grub!

I’ve been going to Kate’s since I was super young and it has always been my favorite fried seafood place on the Cape! I love the clam chowder and of course you can’t go wrong with some whole belly clams. The ice cream is creamy and you get a pretty hefty portion for what you pay. I love Kate’s!

Decent run of the mill fried fish shack. Young man who took our order was helpful. Lobster roll had respectable amount of lobster on it. Like that it had little to no mayo, but large sliced tomatoes were a strange addition. Clam chowder, fries all decent. Wife’s scallop roll was a little on the greasy side. Didn’t stay for the ice cream as there was a wild fox getting a little too close for comfort. Actually jumping up on one of the adjacent picnic tables to rummage through the leftovers. It made us very uncomfortable as we had two small children with us. The fox was shooed off by a female employee who found humor in the situation and thought it quite funny that she named the fox«Herman» I’m not sure how funny the owners would have found the reality of a serious law suit as a result of a fox bite? Regardless, it didn’t make for a relaxed eating environment. We probably won’t be back. Too many other wildlife free shacks with better food close by.

Used to be that it was just lines and wait time we’re off charts. This year noticed that prices on fried clams were nearly double Captain Frostys. $ 21 for half pint/frosty $ 12– is Kate getting ready to retire? Not going to wait forever AND overpay.

Very cute place. We loved it. We were on our way to the Cape Cod Natural History Museum(right down the block) and pulled in for a quick lunch. The whole belly clam dinner($ 21.99) was excellent. A good portion and not heavy-tasting at all. The ½ pint fish was very good as well, a good amount for the price($ 11.99). Dining area consists of a dozen or so outdoor picnic tables. Already thinking about what I am going to order next time!

Fried seafood combo was amazing – pieces were big, fresh and not overly coated. Rueben sandwich very good too. Fries were a disappointment. Didn’t try the ice-cream, but will on next year’s trip.

Good ice cream, always busy, but they need a whipped cream lesson. Ginger is outstanding, coconut is good too. Great local stop if you are in Brewster, but probably not worth the trip if you aren’t nearby given the plethora of ice cream options up and down the Cape.

This place is alright. It’s pretty convenient to where I stay if you want seafood and ice cream. They give you a huge lobster roll but it’s honestly not very good, they could really put a lot more effort into it.

Our family has eaten many meals and ice cream treats at Kate’s over the years. We were excited that they started serving gluten-free food when three of us were diagnosed with celiac. Unfortunately, last night they gave us our lobster roll on a conventional bun instead of a gluten-free roll, despite our clear instructions. Midway through the bun, my mother declared it the best gluten-free bun she’d ever had. That was our tip-off that it wasn’t gluten-free! After a night of non-stop vomiting, my mom is finally feeling better. We really appreciate the effort to accommodate special dietary needs, but we hope they’ll take greater care with these orders if they want to offer such a nice service in the future. For those without allergies, Kate’s is a good place for typical fried fare and yummy ice cream.

Quick visit to Cape, read the reviews and stopped here… burger and onion rings were very good, salmon burger was also good. Seems to be the locals ice cream shop of choice from clientele.

Kate’s is always our first meal on the Cape every year. The fish and chips are fantastic and the ice cream is to die for. The portions are big, especially the ice cream. My kids love it here. One tip though– wear bug spray at night. The mosquitoes are vicious! We can’t wait to go back in August!

If you’re looking for a roadside fish shack, you won’t be disappointed by this roadside fish shack. Fried fish club was made with sweet, flaky cod and was not at all heavy despite a big portion of fish, bacon, and cheese. Plenty of seating in the sun or shade.

Grossly overpriced. Far to much batter caked onto the oysters. Oh and I didn’t expect table service from a rat family.

I’ve been coming here for ice cream since I was a kid –always in the evening after a day spent at Paine’s Creek. Your typical ice cream/burger shanty on the Cape, plenty of flavors to choose from!

Ice cream makes everyone happy! Kate’s serves up some good ice cream… love the grape nut & coffee Heath bar as well as the coffee blast shake. Portions were huge… should have gone with a small but, hey, it’s vacation. Also tried the food… chicken tenders and spicy curly fries… very tasty and again huge portions. The staff is also excellent… working in crazy-busy atmosphere and being pleasant and helpful. I’ll be back for the junior mint ice cream at the very least.
