Sad news, my favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant is out of business. My wife and I have dinned there dozens of times, brought guests and had parties there. We stopped by for dinner tonight. There is a for lease sign in the window and the restaurant is empty and dark. I hate that John lost his restaurant, He worked so hard and tried to make a go of his restaurant. I honestly can say his toasted Ravioli were better than any others in St. Louis and his Alfredo sauce magnificent. Crazy his fried onion rings were great. John if you read this, let me express my deepest sympathy. I hope you open again somewhere.

Had a great meal here last night. The Toasted Ravioli was something we wanted to try whilst visiting St Louis and we weren’t disappointed! We got a serving to share between 4 and was great. The pasta meals were quite large and the staff were very friendly! The owner even came out and said Hello!

Well, I’d like to write a review, but I didn’t get the chance to eat here. I just tried to dine at this restaurant during my lunch break. Keyword TRIED. I went inside and waited about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me, and it wasn’t the hostess. It was the bartender, who was very nice. A minute or so later the hostess came out, she was also very nice, and set my table outside. She came back two more times over the course of about 5 – 7 minutes each time saying my server will be out shortly, but after waiting close to 20 minutes I got up and left. There were about 5 other tables inside and no one else outside and I was a party of 1. Waiting 5 minutes to be seated when the place is mostly empty and then waiting another 20 minutes for service isn’t acceptable. I went to a different restaurant in the strip mall and I can see where I was sitting from here. My water glass and the untouched bread is still sitting there, so I doubt that I would have received service at all. I really wanted to try something new, but it looked overpriced anyway. There were three different options for specials. The lunch special, which is $ 9.50, the 15 meals for $ 9.99 and the regular menu, which would have been $ 9.99. I don’t think saving. 50 on something is really a lunch special anyways. I can go to many other restaurants in the area and spend less than $ 10 on my food plus a drink.

Each time I go here, the experience goes down down down… I’m so sad because the first time I went here I was soooo impressed and I loved it… But last night was kinda the last straw. When we were getting seated by the owner(nice guy) picked up an app plate and scrapped something off and put it back on out table. strike #1. The food wasn’t as good as it use to be… strike #2 although the Alfredo pasta was great they never seem to mess up on that… everything else just wasn’t that good… we were out of ketchup and the server said all the ketchup bottles are empty and we need to refill them… which I didn’t think you could do for health reasons… correct me if I’m wrong… strike #3 I just wish it was like the old place it use to be…

We love going to different Food Network restaurants. Meglio’s Italian is definitely worth going to dinner or lunch. The salad dressing was homemade and the salad was huge. We ordered off the 2 for $ 25 menu. We got the Eggplant ravioli as an appetizer and it was scrumptious. The sauce was definitely homemade also. My Hubby ordered the spaghetti and it had one huge meatball. Excellent choice! But mine was the best choice of all. I had the Parmesan crusted Tilapia. It was one big fish. And cooked to perfection. We both left full and feeling we got more for our $$. Don’t miss this place!!! We were just passing through on our way to PA from CO.

Very good food and service at reasonable prices. For fans of the«Luigis» way of cooking Italian, «Meglios» delivers excellent food and atmosphere for the price. We are always greeted in a friendly and timely manner. One of my favorite places to go when I am in St. Louis. Four stars for being a great place to go for casual dining.

Not a fan, I wont be coming back… When I entered the restaurant, we were not greeted at first, then a man sitting at the bar turned around(assume it was the owner) and said that he would take us to a table«Not sure which one yet» he said«I’ll know once we get there». After we sat and looked through the menu, it took about 10 minutes to get greeted by our waitress for drinks. Keep in mind that there was only 2 other tables in the dining room that had guests. Our very unkempt waitress came over, looked like she just ran a marathon sweating all over the place ordered Wings as an appetizer and i ordered a SIDE salad, the menu stated it was $ 2.95 i may be off on the change, the salad came out first, then the wings(was too hot, i love wings and couldn’t finish them) Then our pizza, the pizza was Amazing, that’s why i gave this place 2 stars! when our bill came, the waitress added our gratuity already, the check said there were 8 guests, and my salad rang in as $ 6 dollars. The waitress then started talking about the cheesecake factory, I think she just smoked her crack pipe in the kitchen… NEVERGOINGBACKTOTHISSHITHOUSE.

Excellent pizza and Italian food! They still make their pizza the way they did at the original Luigi’s from years gone by. The Jumbo Artichoke and Spinach Ravioli is amazing. .. and you might as well get the half red sauce and half white sauce because to miss out on either would be your loss.

I read lots of negative reviews about this place before going last night. I can’t say I agree with them. The service and food were pretty good! I could say that the service was exceptional. Our waitress took care of our party of 6 so well. She was right there to get us refills before we had to ask, she made great suggestions, and made for a great experience. The food was very good! Not ‘best meal you have ever had’, but very good! I spilt a 2 for 25 dollar deal with one of my mom. We each got an entrée, a side, and then an appetizer to split. I got a side house salad with the Grandma’s sweet oil and vinegar dressing… It was great! Very St. Louis with the Provel cheese, which I personally love! And the dressing was great. Then, for my entrée I had the small pepperoni pizza! The pizza was thin crust, and was a nice size! It wasn’t as good as the beloved Imos, because it was a little burnt on the bottom, but it was good! However, our appetizer was fantastic! We spilt toasted ravioli, and they were… Perfect! They are larger than the frozen kind you can buy at the grocery store, and the middle is a little different. The middle is so creamy and perfect, while the outside is crispy! Ahh heaven. I would go back especially for those! You have to try those! My mom got the fettuccine Alfredo, she liked it, but says she has had better. The other people I was with got Parmesan encrusted Tilapia, and spaghetti and meatballs. The tilapia was to die for, apparently. I did not try it. And the spaghetti wasn’t «the best» but still good. All in all, you got a lot of food for spitting 25 dollars with someone else if you decide to go that route. The service was great. We left happy. This wouldn’t be my first choice for my last meal ever, but it was good food for a good price. Just make sure you try the toasted ravs!

Went for lunch this week. I’ve worked in the area for over a year, how am I just finding this place? I had the $ 10 pizza and salad. Typical STL style pizza but an outstanding version of such. The Caesar salad was fantastic, one of the better ones I’ve had not at a high end restaurant. Definitely recommend both. Price is a tad high for lunch but as an occasional splurge, not that bad. I don’t expect to pay McDonald’s prices for a delicious Italian meal. Looking forward to coming back for happy hour and/or dinner. I want to try the ravs. A side note to any breweriana collectors out there, one of the part owners has an amazing collection of 30’s-40’s-50’s back bar signs behind the bar. Beautiful examples of classics, several I’ve see sell for thousands. That alone is worth the trip if you know what you’re looking at.

Bought a living social deal for 12 bucks for 25. Holy crap! The price for cannelloni was 15.00! Ridiculous for something not made in house! And u cannot pick from the 2 for 25 menu, either. Prolly see them closed up soon. We walked out and went to Pasta House. They have much better prices. By the way, the décor is very distasteful. Those purple curtains are haunting my dreams! Yikes!

Ok, so my husband and I went here for dinner on Valentines day. We live in the area and were here a few years ago and I guess the meal wasn’t fabulous because we just came back this year. We were greeted and seated right away. It was not crowded at all. A lot of the restaurants in the area had a very long wait, so this was a nice surprise. Our waitress was great, and very attentive to our needs. The food was very good. We both commented on how good it tasted. While we were eating, we overheard the owner talking to a large group at a table behind us. He was telling them about how the restaurant had been on one of the tv shows that go into restaurants and helps them out of the hole they are heading down.(maybe restaurant impossible?) All sounded good and the place DID seem and look better than when we had been in there before. However, what we found disturbing was that the owner and a couple wait staff went right out to the front walk(visible from our seat) and started smoking. YUCK. I am sure this is something that is a big no no as far as the tv show is concerned and as a customer, it’s gross to see. I am sure we will go back here again because as I said, the food was really good, but the owner needs to get a clue as far as good etiquette as an owner and what he does in front of the customers… in my opinion, if you need to smoke, you should take it out to the back door and not be in plain sight of the customers.

I love trying restaurants that have been on Restaurant Impossible when I can, and it so happened that I flew into St. Louis for work, so why not? Well, I will tell you why not. I will start by saying the staff«owner» is very friendly. This is the only reason they get the 2 stars. I asked for a suggestion, and he said he was known for the pizza. Well, why not, It was only $ 10 with a side salad. He explained that it was thin crust, with meatballs and sauce, made on a cake sheet. Cool, something new right? After my first bite I knew I had tasted something like this before. The $.99 tostinos frozen pizzas found in your local supermarket. It was so disappointing. This is not worth $ 10, nor is it worth every coming back. I really hope they make it, but not with this pizza.

Mediocre tortellini. Extremely salty. Servers sitting at a table with several McDonalds cups(!) on it. Owner(I guess) wearing a Bud Light shirt went outside every couple of minutes to smoke. I’d say they forgot most, if any lessons learned by Restaurant Impossible show. Olive garden is a huge step up in ambience and food, if that says anything

Picked up Miss C. and friend from the airport Friday night and stopped here on the way home. It was 9:30 p.m. No patrons. Shelia was our fabulous server. We ordered the toasted ravioli($ 8.95) and toasted cannelloni($ 8.95), and the«house special» pizza — Italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives, onions and green pepper — large($ 19.95). Apps came out first. Those homemade toasted ravs are the greatest — so huge. Nice marinara sauce. We each ate one. They were toasted beautifully had great crunch with incredibly substantial filling and a wonderful taste. This coming from someone who doesn’t like toasted ravs! The homemade cannelloni were braised pork, tomatoes, marinara, ricotta cheese and spinach. They were little rounds, so the cannelloni must have been sliced. Again, the marinara sauce. These were not a hit. Don’t really know quite why, but the flavor was flat. When the pizza arrived, Miss C.‘s friend inquired about the cheese. She had read up on provel. It was provel. She had one piece and was not a fan. Oops! I really liked the pizza. Miss C. was too full from the apps to try the pizza. I understand this place has been«famous» for its Luigi’s pizza for a long time. Luigi was John(the owner’s) uncle. We had a lot of leftovers — including all the bread and butter. P. S. The homemade cannelloni(of which we had 10 leftover pieces) were soooo much better two days later. .. don’t know why, but they were!

Visited on Father’s Day. Read the reviews after and it seems Meglio’s is inconsistent. One day good and the next day bad. Our day was bad. Mike

I decided to try out Meglio’s one weekday afternoon for lunch. I had been moved to a new office recently off Page(between 270 and Lindbergh, bummer), so it takes me around 10 minutes to get there. I tried calling in a pick-up order at 11:15 and no one answered, but shortly afterwards they called me back up and apologized for not being there to answer. I then placed my order for the toasted ravioli and a small sausage and pepperoni pizza(don’t worry, I didn’t eat all of that myself). It took somewhere around 20 to 25 minutes for my order. I arrived, was greeted and someone told me to wait by the bar where I could pick up my order. The place looks decent on the inside(contemporary, not kitschy) and was pretty clean. Got my order after a few minutes, paid the 20-something bucks for it and headed back to my apartment quickly to scarf it down. The pizza is St. Louis-style, so stop reading now if you aren’t about that. I should probably start off any St. Louis-style pizza reviews with that in caps as my first sentence(THEBELOWREVIEWISFORST. LOUIS-STYLEPIZZA; PROCEEDATYOUROWNRISK). Anyway, it’s one of the thinner crusts I’ve had, yet slightly pliable, and features a really delicious, rich sauce that I cannot forget about. The meat was decent and I would totally hit it up again if it weren’t so damn expensive for how little it filled me up. The toasted ravioli were a real treat. I checked out the menu before I ordered and saw an order of of them(4 total) were 9 bucks, but other reviewers swore by them, so I figured I could check ‘em out. They are monstrous, hand-breaded beauties filled with some kind of ground meat and cheese(I’ll guess pork, veal and beef for the meat mixed with a little Provel cheese) resting on top of a bed of delicious pasta sauce. This sauce has the same deep, slow-cooked flavor of their sauce as their pizza, but is a little more chunky I suppose with onions and whatever. Were they worth the 9 bucks? Probably worth a try at least. They filled me up more than the $ 11.45 pizza and were rather unique. Maybe I’ll try the toasted cannelloni next time!!! So what can I complain about? I think because of reviews that I’d read before mine, I came into this place skeptical as hell, expecting(and almost wanting) to hate it. The service wasn’t great, and the lady that greeted me seemed disinterested(if not angry), but I wasn’t offended in any way. The food was expensive for how much you get, but I simply can’t deny that what I ate was anything short of delicious. TL;DR: though on the expensive side, the pizza(St. Louis-style) is delicious and some of the appetizers are worth a try as well. Refer to others reviewers perhaps if you’re looking to dine in, otherwise carry-out is simple if you’d like your food to go.
