If you have children, beware. We were prepared to wait to get in on a Sunday morning(30 minutes), but after we ordered our food it took 50 minutes to get it. When I asked the waitress if something happened, her reply was that it always takes this long on the weekends. However, two couples who were seated after us both received their food ahead of us. The quality of the food wasn’t worth the wait.

Drive by often, but never stopped. My son was«starving» after a lacrosse game so being there was a spot to park out front, we decided this was the place. It was a Saturday around 1030 am, so a little busy. Staff was awesome and the food was wonderful. We were so surprised by this gem of a place. Great prices too. Even our lattes were good. Kitchen seemed backed up, and a line was forming out the door, but everyone kept their cool. We will definitely go back!

Had breakfast here this morning. Great service and great food! Been to Bristol many times before and had breakfast in a few other places. This is the best by far.

Went here today – Tuesday– at 11am, so no lines. Very cozy, clean, well decorated place. The menu is varied, unique. I got the #2 breakfast, which was very good. We thought the prices were reasonable too. The restaurant is also in a nice downtown area of Bristol.

Very cosy local little diner. Great service. It was quite busy on Sunday afternoon-which was a great sign, so we had to wait a few minutes. My salmon Benedict was exquisite –full of flavor, beautifully presented and very generous on salmon. However our dessert funky monkey which was supposed to be French toast banana bread filled with Nutella –was incredibly dry, but tasty! worth checking out. Would come back again!

Always great food, great service and great atmosphere. Any place where you can see college kids, young families and old folks all enjoying wonderful food is the place for me. And the homemade hash and chef’s specials? Just amazing!

Was in the area for a few days and after trying this place out for the first time, had to go again. The chorizo hash is different and delicious. Breakfast sandwiches can be made on their homemade biscuits. Must try!

Line is always out the door but it moves quickly! It’s great to stop in for breakfast YEARS after attending RWU. Same great quality food and same, small-town feel. I love this place for a non-pretentious, high quality breakfast. I ordered the anchor omelet, substituting egg whites and my fiancé ordered the smoked salmon benny. We also shared a waffle — so light and fluffy! We LOVED our breakfast. I basically licked my plate clean. I definitely look forward to any opportunity where I can stop through Bristol to get breakfast!

Had the portuguese benediction. Very tastey. The girlfriend had the eye opener. It was also really good. The food came out in a reasonably quick fashion, considering how busy it was. Regular mix of pretentious Barrington/bristol turds but the service was really quick and friendly. I’m definitely going back.

Place is very quaint. Nice atmosphere but service was awful. Waited +45 min for grilled cheese and sandwiches when the place was not even very busy. If you have +2 hrs for lunch, this may be a good place. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Great food and friendly service. This place gets packed but the line moves quickly. They have great iced coffee which pairs well with their chicken and waffles!

The Sunset is a great place to find cheap, tasty food and big portions with a nice diner vibe and Portuguese flair. Their omelettes are great, as are their home fries. I also love that they have the option to get Italian toast — an option that is generally not available in general New England diners but is in Portuguese diners. They often have interesting specials and also have some out of the ordinary options on the menu that I have yet to try. The first time I came, I was blown away by the low prices. Lots of good food + low prices = great deal. It is decorated with a bunch of pictures and license plates and towards the front of the place, they have big windows which allow a lot of light in, making it very nice in there. They’ve got a frequent flyer here. Good stuff!

Great breakfast spot. Portions were good and prices were fair. Highly recommend getting one of their breakfast sandwiches on their homemade biscuits. So money. Only negative was the service. We had to ask for small plates, more napkins, refills. Minor stuff but the server really wasn’t very attentive. Wouldn’t stop me from going back. We’re in town on vacation so probably even going back tomorrow haha.

Great food, friendly staff, easy location, good prices. Excellent for visitors who want to experience Bristol ‘s smalltown coziness with a Portuguese flair. Food options are a nice mix of creative plus basic, and BIG portions.(I usually bring half home or split an order.) Specialty is homemade chourico(Portuguese sausage) hash. My favorite breakfast item is the Portuguese Benny — 2 perfectly poached eggs on top of homemade chourico hash, spinach, tomato, and a bolo(big, soft Portuguese englush muffin), topped with creamy hollandaise sauce(just the right amount) plus a side of delicious home fries. Mmmmm! Also, house ground burgers with many creative options and BYOB. Fun! Suggestions: read the specials menu in the window (2 homemade soups posted in window only) and on the board when you walk as they are NOT posted in the main back section of the café or on the menu. Homemade dessert case very tempting!(e.g., Ghiaradeli chocolate brownies — fabulous!!) It is very small, so get there early, especially on a Saturday or Sunday during peak hours. It closes at 2 pm.

I had a great first of five breakfasts at the Sunset Café. Best features were our server, Carla, the poached eggs, the sauteed spinach, the chopped cheriz, the café au lait, and the price(under 10 bucks). OMG I’ve died and gone to breakfast heaven. Why not 5 stars then? I was underwhelmed by the pancakes. I’m used to ones that are about 3 inches across and very light and airy. These were the size of a small dinner plate and dense. Not my personal style.

I’ve been coming here when Mario and Irene first opened this place and when they sold it to a family member the food and service never skipped a beat. The staff always has a smile on their face and the food is served fast and delicious. Great Job Sunset!!!

There are 3 main criteria a breakfast joint must nail in order to be great. They are as follows: 1.) Creative menu options that still make sense 2.) Hip Ambiance, has to feel ‘cool’ 3.) Speed, breakfast food has to come out hot and quick. Sunset Café not only hits those three very important points, but excels in every facet of its operations. The specials are always awesome. The staff is always smiling and gracious. The mood is always happy and uplifting. The coffee and house-made pastries for you to take to-go are also a hit. It’s very hard to have a bad experience here, and if you do, bring it to their attention and it will be rectified justly. A top-notch business. In review, Sunset Café is consistently the best breakfast in Bristol, and probably the East Bay!(But I wouldn’t know, as I usually just stick to Sunset.)

It’s tough being a vegetarian in America, especially in such an American town as Bristol(the streets are painted red, white, and blue!). The Beehive Café down around the corner is great, but I must admit my stomach feels more comfortable there than my wallet. Sunset Café meets me halfway, and offers a couple really tastey vegetarian options(the veggie burger and veggie wrap) for under $ 10, and that comes with chips or fries and a pickle. Come to think of it, this may be my favorite veggie burger I’ve had in RI, because of how fresh it is, but the grilled bun and fries make it feel like comfort food. Recently, I’ve been here for breakfast, and let me tell you, this is where Sunset really shines. A variety of french toasts and pancakes for your sweet-tooth, and breakfast egg combos for your savory side, all reasonably priced. Certainly the diner you want to visit if you’re in the area, because you really can’t beat the quality, nevermind the price. The décor is interesting, with New England licence plates and memorabilia lining the beams across the cieling. The space was aparently a bakery in the 1920s, which is acknowledged by the large wooden sign hanging on the wall. As far as seating goes, it’s pretty tight(especially on Sunday mornings!). A pool of tables are scattered in the front, providing excellent people-watching views of the main street through the big bay windows. There’s a counter with a register for espresso bar drinks to-go, and another pool of tables in the back, where the majority of seating is. Customer service here is pretty awesome, too. My wife and I come fairly often, and they recognized us after only the second visit. You’ll see a lot of the same faces, because I’m pretty sure is a family who runs Sunset. Breakfast, brunch, or lunch, you won’t be disappointed at Sunset Café. But get there before they close at 3pm!
