Only been here a few times since it is a bit out of the way from where I live. Everytime I’ve been there I’ve enjoyed it immensely. I would recommend it to anyone in the area!

I cannot believe I have never reviewed this place. Bar Great Harry helped put craft beer on the map in Brooklyn, and I’ve been going there for at least 5 years. I’ve seen the bar evolve over the years, and the tap list continues to get tighter and tighter. BGH always gets great rare kegs, and always has great events planned throughout the year. I only wish we lived a little closer, as this would totally be my local watering hole. If you are a beer nerd like me, if it wasn’t for BGH, we wouldn’t have other BK gems like Owl Farm, Mission Dolores, Glorietta Baldy, and the new Cardiff Giant.

Great bar. Great always-changing selection of very interesting beers.

What am I gonna do with this place ?! Can it grow ?! Can it «expand» consciously ?! I think I’ve had a few delightful experiences here and held dear to them over time though the reality ongoing never measures up. The beer selection is great. Spirits. eh…I think we all like Bar Great Harry because of the open doors, the dog friendliness, that still good? Who knows. You get the sense, you want the place to spill out onto the sidewalk… but it doesn’t. Can it ?! It can’t ?! It’s pretty dead for me people wise. I can only speak for myself but most people that go there look somber and confused and likely in and out of A. A, hollow eyes, wondering, gleaming, bored. I like the idea of this place and it’s given me some good times ! Maybe it’s just me, not the place, kudos. Lastly, this may be the thing, I hate the music that generally plays ! This non-melodious, unfeeling, unthoughtful, funk less, three chord grating, whiny rock… ouch ! Cheers ! Two and a ¼ stars however if we lived in say Oklahoma or something I might be jazzed to give it a full 4.5 yo ! I’m here now, this bartender is playing sabbath. All I need. Amaze balls !

If you are looking for a great beer, this is the spot, mostly when Jhonn is there, coolest bartender, friendly and attentive. Give it A shot and have a shot!

Met my husband here one steamy August night. What more could one ask for from a bar?!

4 stars for best variety of beers in all the land and nicest bartenders minus one. Whats up with the angry short bartender with short dirty blonde hair? I’ve definitely seen a handful of impatient people here which would be annoying as a bartender, but she’s pretty salty all around, every time i’m in there.

Bar Great Harry is where you go when you and your bros don’t want to put real pants on but still want to interact with society.(Read: Carroll Garden’s version of a dive bar.) It’s a small, dark bar with a few tables and a solid beer selection. So, not exactly my cup of tea. But if you’re in the mood for a casual brew, Bar Great Harry is a good option.

Awesome beer selection and bartenders, but I don’t like how they’ve altered their pricing. Whereas previously everything was priced by pint, now it’s in three sizes – 8, 12, and 16oz. As a result, things are WAY more expensive. Will I still go there? Duh. Where else can I get the occasional Hill Farmstead beer? Only at BGH. Worth it for the beer and atmosphere. Definitely.

When my cousin proposed a double-date at Bar Great Harry, I said yes immediately since she and her husband are so cool plus I knew Mike would love the beer selection. The bar lent itself to good conversation and laughter at its wooden tables. I discovered an absolutely delightful hard cider from Brittany, France, the region my dad called home for a long time and that I have happy memories of visiting. I would love another glass of that right now.

Finest quality ales. Knowledgable & chill bartenders. Dog-friendly, until the health department kiboshed that. Drink here before you drink anywhere else.(Or don’t, because I need the place quiet enough to think.)

The atmosphere of this bar is okay, there’s nothing really special about it. However, because the bartender was cheeky and rude, I have no desire to return.

So I often arrive at this corner and am presented with two options; Jakewalk to the south, Bar Great Harry to the North. So far I’ve never chosen Jakewalk. Maybe Jakewalk has more complex drinks? Tasty small plates? Waitstaff with wider smiles and whiter teeth? Guess I’ll never know…

My kind of place. Great lighting, helpful bartenders, and tasty beer. What’s not to like?

Decent neighborhood bar with a great selection of draft beers. Came here one night between getting off work and waiting for a reservation, and there was plenty of room to grab a seat and a drink. It’s dark-ish, no frills, not dive-y, and attracts a non-hipster crowd(which is sometimes nice!).

Finally stopped by here to check out their selection. I’m an obnoxious beer snob and I’ve seen the great draft lists on their Instagram. The space is a good size, cozy with a low ceiling. They do in fact have great drafts. Prices are reasonable. But there were six or seven toddlers in the place! Parents with their children were everywhere. A guy with a crying baby in a baby bjorn was right near the entrance. A two year old kid kept running up and down the length of the bar. In the back where the three pinball machines are there were a bunch of strollers and crying children. One guy was changing his kids diaper on the divider next to the games. No! This is a bar! This is a place for adults to be drunk! 21 and older only! This is not a restaurant! It is not appropriate to bring your infant to a place that is self-described as a cozy spot to get drunk and play pinball. I don’t like getting drunk around children. Points deducted for the kids only. With all the great beer spots in this area I would love to come back, but I will stay away for a while and see if they change their minds on the kid thing.

It’s a really great spot with a fun atmosphere, however, service was one of the worst I’ve had in years. When I ordered my first drink, the bartender gave me attitude & made a comment as if I was imposing him. I went back later to order a round of shots, however, he denied me service. I am a bartender as well & understand you have the right to refuse service, but something didn’t seem right. I asked what was going on; he said my group of friends weren’t tipping & we need to leave. All of my friends had tabs & tipped out once closed, so we were confused as to why he was accusing them of such things. Come to find out, he over charged one of them because he wasn’t pleased with the tip. Let me reiterate what another Unilocal review said, that is STEALING! Unfortunately they lost my business only after one time being there. For those of you who go, please check your bank statements next time to make sure you weren’t over charged as well. Just like he has a right to refuse serving, customers have a right to tip according to the service given, or lack there of.

BGH is a super cool neighborhood bar. It’s non-pretentious, but is far from being a dive. They have a great selection of beers, friendly bartenders, three pinball machines in the back room, and what sounds like someone’s Beatles Pandora playlist on blast. What’s not to like?

4 major selling points=4 stars: –Amazing Happy Hour(from 2−7pm all wells and 10 beers, mostly crappy canned stuff and Yuenling draft are 2 for $ 5) –Dog Friendly –3 pinball machines(3 plays for $ 2.00, 1 for 75 cents) –Weekly Bar Trivia Another selling point is that they have a good selection of craft beers. The bartender wasn’t the best and was extremely insistent on checking all IDs before starting to get our drinks. Otherwise GBH is a great place to stop at for a drink(and/or a game of Pinball).
