Visited in 2012, due to a tip from a co-worker. It’s a nice place to go and enjoy some exotic drinks. The staff was extremely friendly and due to the nice weather, was able to sit at an outside table. You’ll find beers and liquors from all over the world with a menu of over 500 beers alone! I had one that’s brewed by belguim monks and has no bubbles(best beer I’ve ever tasted). The waitress informed me of how 2 girls rook a bus from Canada just to try the exact same beer i was sipping. If you’re any type of connoisseur, make this an immediate stop! You will not be disappointed. I’ll def b going back.

This bar/restaurant is now CLOSED to make room for yet another clothing store on Court Street. RIP Downtown.

Disguised as a standard-issue sports bar, Downtown B+G actually made good food. Even people who don’t like veggie burgers would take a bite of one and be plunged into an extreme, disorienting state of veggie-burger-arousal. All the negative reviews were obviously written by people who hate food and sexual excitement. Well, I hope you people are happy with yourselves. Now the place is closed and life is worse for everyone. Happy? Are you happy? Oh yeah, Brenda was the nicest waitress.

Heh– I wrote this review for nothing as it looks like they already closed! So much for drinking beer outside.

There is a sign posted in the door today(2÷3÷14) that they have closed and will not be reopening. They thank their loyal customers for the support.

It’s a classic family craft beer bar. We were there with 6 people and it’s normal they charge a 18% tip. It’s Christmas; be giving. Like I was going for a 4 star but fact this place is so underrated by inactive Unilocalers, I like to put in my help. The bartender is wonderful. I ask for like 3 tries on the beer to find the one that I like. Without hesitation, he serves up the shots of beer of my picking. Great man! The place is really quiet on a Sunday night for a prime location. There are like 4 to 6 tv around 32 to 40inch each hosting football games to simpson: D The food is really so so. I can get it from deli with the same quality or better and cheaper. I think they should make the portion bigger or add something to make it more filling. instead of one side; maybe add another: D(fries AND salad) yeah The list of beers is LONG. I have a hard time searching for one.

I went here on a Football Sunday when the bar and tables were packed and had none of the issues mentioned with service in the other reviews. Great place to watch a game– we were happy they had both football on the TVs near the bar and baseball visible from the back. Good seating during the summer. I thought the food was really good and the menu is extensive, but it is definitely a bit overpriced.

Crack Kills and in this case I mean the bartender’s. Did not catch her name, but one of the Sunday afternoon bartenders needs to get some clothing that fits. If cleavage wasn’t enough, she also shows off her pooch, side-muffin tops, and crack in the back. On top of showing too much skin, we had to ask to close our tab several times before she finally got around to bringing it. In addition to this eye sore, the bar plays loud music instead of game sound and the TVs are small. The additional star is given due to the the other wait staff that was nice enough to help get us a table before seats opened up at the bar and the vast beer selection.(The food looked good, but we didn’t order any.) I think the better sports bars are along Atlantic Ave.

No exaggeration, this has got to be top 3 worst establishments I’ve ever been to. The staff is SORUDE. No one ever cracks a smile, the food SUCKS and its super expensive. STAYAWAY from this place. There is a reason it’s dead. Just a matter of time before this place goes out of business with its Incompetent staff and garbage food.

When you have to get up and grab your own water, and the server doesn’t say ONEWORD to you, you know you’re on your way to a 1 star treat. My friend and I sat outside on a Sunday afternoon. There were 4 tables open and one of the waitresses *kindly* told us to sit wherever we’d like. A few minutes pass and she hands us a couple menus. So far, so good; nothing out of the ordinary to hang out on gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Seventeen minutes later(yes I was counting), no order was taken. She would look at our table, and we would give her a polite we’re-ready-to-order look, but no dice. Finally after 26 minutes, she went inside, and voila, an irate, middle-aged man appeared at our table with a notepad and an attitude. He stomped over and without a word spoken, hovered over our table and waited for us to give him our order. Sorrrrrrrry for wanting to eat at your restaurant! Whatever, maybe the attitude stemmed from the female waitstaff pulling him from his lunch because she didn’t want to service his tables? Five minutes pass and the female waitress brings my beer. Great! But No water for my friend. Another 15 minutes pass and my friend has no water. What’s our waiter doing? Shaking hands with other customers. He looks at us a FEW times but never comes over. Same thing with the female staff. By now I’m thinking that this guy is a dickhead and doesn’t like us for whatever reason, and the other staff isn’t helping the situation. I literally take the matter into my own hands and walk up to the entrance where there’s a big orange cooler with stacks of inverted plastic cups. I ask the female waitress if this is where I can get the water because we don’t have water. She complies, I grab a cup from the stack and pour my own water. On the way back to my table, I pass the waiter who gives me a look but says nothing. What the hell, do you really work here? The food comes out after a few minutes(I’m being generous here ’cause I stopped taking time) and honestly, it was just OK. Not great, a Unilocaly 2.5 — 3 stars. The female waitress was the one who brought our food. Who is our server — the guy or this chick? Or both? Or NEITHER? Bottom line — stay away from this place. It was very insulting the way we were treated, and I have no clue why. Maybe he didn’t like us, maybe someone that looked like me did him wrong in the past and this was his form of revenge, but he definitely knew we were there and definitely didn’t want to serve our table.

Super rude bar tender! The man with the red medium length hair… I will definitely not go back there. Beers were super expensive too

So, the food here is really mediocre and prices are high. Not the most positive start to a review, I know. Particularly egregious is the black angus hamburger, which is always far too cooked for my taste, is chewy, and tastes odd in a not particularly pleasant way. And yet we keep going here. Why? 1) The beer is good and reasonably priced. 2) it has really comfortable outdoor seating that is extremely pleasant on a nice spring day, especially if you happen to have a baby who likes to wiggle around; 3) we’re always well treated by the staff. Before our baby turned up, I’d say that a restaurant with these characteristics wasn’t worth going to. But in reality, for our life now, with the constraints on our restaurant-going that actually exist rather than some floating in the air ideal of restaurant going, a visit to Downtown Bar & Grill makes for an excellent evening. Live music sometimes.

I do not understand the complaints about the staff here. We loved this place, and the staff definitely went out of their way for us. To be fair, we brought a baby with us(literally, she’a year old) so it was hard not to notice us. They let us leave the stroller in the back, brought over a high chair, and made a special dish of plain pasta with butter and cheese just for her. We actually came to watch the game(s) and ended up relocating after some tables opened up closer to the TVs– this was not a problem for the staff, nor was ordering, nor was anything really. I didn’t get any attitude or slothfulness. What I DID get was the BESTVEGGIEBURGER. It was pretty funny, me with three dudes and a baby, and the baby got the ‘manliest’ meal. All three thirty-somethings guys got the veggie burger, while I had the salmon + grilled goat cheese salad. We started with some calimari and mozz sticks, so we weren’t that healthy. And the veggie burger isn’t healthy, if you were wondering, but it is delicious. Fried appetizers: fine. Salmon + grilled goat cheese salad: incredible. Didn’t even need the mango chutney dressing, the salad was already so flavorful with the cinnamon/cranberry goat cheese, perfectly cooked salmon, greens, nuts, and apple slices. Highly recommend. Veggie burger: No beans or quinoa or rice filler here, just a big heap of amazing veggies on a solid bun with lettuce, tomato, and magic sauce. Beer: great draft list(30 or so) and a much, much longer bottle list. We all got drafts. I say pass on the flights and just commit to a whole beer: my flight wasn’t very cohesive. It had a light ale on it, two stouts(Founder’s Breakfast and someone else’s Irish), and two dark hoppy beers. Didn’t make any sense. Tasty though. I highly recommend the food and beer here.

I’m at a bit of a loss on how to rate this place — it’s good, but not that great. What’s excellent: * The bottle(beer) list is DEEP, and quite frankly amazing. What’s good: * The draft beer selection is good, rotates well, stays interesting. What’s fair: * Food is decent enough, but I wouldn’t write home about it. What’s not so great: * Service can be spotty. Really spotty. Uncomfortably spotty. Yeah, I’ll be back but not regularly.

Amazing beer selection and a wide variety of food on the menu– however, the help they have working is completely useless. Even the bartender couldn’t keep up with the half full bar. Servers serving the 4 or 5 tables that were occupied on a Saturday night had to go behind the bar to make their own drinks. Honestly, what I observed reminded me of those shows on food network where the celebrity chefs try to save failing restaurants. Maybe they should consider getting on one of those shows. I hope this restaurant doesn’t fail, because it has a lot of potential, just needs a staff that isn’t half asleep. And another thing, not everything needs to be served with French fries.

The service is very slow! However, the food is okay and there are a lot of beers on tap! It’s a decent place to sit outside, grab some mediocre food and beer and enjoy nice weather! Best part of all, super dog-friendly! You can sit outside with friends drinking and bring the pup!

I should have trusted the Unilocal reviews on this one. But my boyfriend and I are new to the neighborhood and needed to find our new sports bar. The beer list here was enough to say we would give it the benefit of the doubt and try it for ourselves. Well that benefit of the doubt lasted about 47 seconds. We walked in to watch a Stanley Cup game(go Devils) which was playing on 1 of the TVs. They offered us a table that we couldn’t see the game from. So we asked for another empty table in the corner with a view. It was a 4 top and we were only 2 — but we were planning on eating and drinking for the next few hours. They said no with a really obnoxious attitude — like we were asking something totally unreasonable. It is supposed to be a freaking sports bar people. People come to watch games so you should help them do that. So we said thanks but we don’t go to sports bars if we can’t watch the game we came to see and walked out. Fast forward 47 more seconds when we walked into Codys a few doors down. First thing the waitress says to us is «Can you see the game you came to watch from here or do you need me to move things around?» …And looks like we found our new sports bar in the neighborhood. Downtown Bar & Grill — you lost our business forever.

Hands down my fav bar in the cobblehill area of brooklyn. I’ve been coming here before the new hipster crowd swarmed in and the Downtown has stayed true to it’s neighborhood bar feel. Incredible beer selection with above average bar food. Pulled chicken sandwich, chicken sharwarma wrap, any burger(veggie included) are outrageous. Oh ya Dogfish on tap… fav. Nothing better on a nice day to sit outside and watch the folks walk by either.
