Have been for brunch twice now. Both times the food was delicious and the service was lovely. The atmosphere is warm and simple, sort of a cabin feel. The back garden room is beautiful and unique. Brunch is always on the expensive side, but that’s brunch anywhere and I’m happy to pay for such good food. Both times the ginger juice has been out of this world. So good. I had the crab cake with grits and andouille sausage– my boyfriend had scrambled eggs with caramelized onions and smoke salmon, and we shared french toast with berries. All very good. I also got a side of home fries which were SUPER tasty, but also expensive at $ 5 a small plate. Will keep coming back here for sure.

Reserving a star until I eat my to go order — but so far the service has been amazingly hospitable. Good wine, limited yet exciting menu, super warm and chill ambience.

Coming to the Hill Café was like coming home. The staff was friendly, funny, and courteous. The beverage selection was diverse, but not overwhelming. It was hard to choose from the intriguing items on the menu. We had the baby back ribs(melt in your mouth) and the Goat Cavelleti, both left us in ecstasy. We will definitely go back and I look forward to trying brunch on their beautiful back garden porch.

This is our neighborhood place. We eat here about once a week(with and without kids). The food is great – with delicious vegetarian options, good specials, and frequent new dishes(helpful since we go so often). Hill Café also has warm and attentive staff and the owner is incredibly kind. You can either have a more hip dining experience in the front of the restaurant or a cozier dining experience in the back room. And it may not seem important, but the lighting is particularly good and so is the music. I could not recommend this restaurant any harder than I already do.

A great neighborhood spot with a pretty open backyard area. We go for brunch, which is yummy and has nice vegetarian options.

The food here was very tasty and the ambiance is nice as well. They have a beautiful backyard. This place is a bit on the expensive side for dinner as the salmon and all the fish entrées cost $ 20.00 or above. Also there was no complimentary bread basket. So that we were waiting for the food and I was getting hungry. It didn’t take very long but I was getting a bit impatient. Overall this place is a nice place to visit and I could see myself coming here occasionally. One thing I do like is that they take credit cards so that’s something that quite a few of the restaurants in the area don’t do. The food here is excellent but it’s probably a bit more than I would care to spend heading out for dinner. One thing that I would really appreciate is a hearty salad option for dinner. The dinner salads are light appetizer style salads but they costs around $ 10.00. I had the Mediterranean salmon which I would recommend and the Mac and Cheese. Absolutely delicious.

Food was very delicious. I got a very interesting dish(penne vodka w/seitan) and it was fantastic. Cocktails were yummy. The service was terribly slow, however, but both servers seemed very new so I will give them a pass this time. Highly recommend. Great outdoor seating.

Very disappointed with the service. We were a party of four that came for a casual Sunday evening meal that turned into an ordeal. We left well over 2.5 hours later despite it being relatively empty in the restaurant. It took 20 minutes to get our order taken and over an hour just to get our appetizers. We then sat there with our dirty dishes on the table for over another half hour just to get our entrées. We ordered dessert, perhaps deluding ourselves into thinking that the service would get better. Nope. The only thing that happened in a timely fashion was receiving the check. We noticed a couple come in at the table next to us and started timing. They got their food in 45 minutes flat. That certainly didn’t help our experience. Nor did the fact that the wait staff seemed to take great pains to avoid acknowledging that we had been there an eternity. Overall, the food and drinks were pretty good. The tuna tartare had too much sesame oil, but this was a minor bump on the road. Regardless, we devoured it because we were hungry after waiting so long. We live in the area and had high hopes for this place, so, needless to say, we were very disappointed.

Really enjoyed this charming neighborhood spot. Great brunch specials. The kefta has a really nice flavor and the tofu scramble was a great healthy option. There’s a wonderful indoor AND outdoor patio so it’s great for any weather. The staff was super warm and welcoming. I’m looking forward to coming back again for dinner. Definitely recommend this place for a relaxed and tasty spot.

Two dozen oysters, tuna tartare, wings and calamari. Everything was excellent. I will definitely return… probably weekly because I am so satisfied. Lol

Hill café is great! My boyfriend and I have gone here a couple of times for a weekend brunch. It’s never packed, which is nice and they have great brunch specials(bottomless mimosa until 3, for $ 15?!) I love their food and the wait staff is attentive and very friendly. Now, why 4 stars instead of 5? I know this is dumb, but the last time the BF and I went(2÷7÷15) we each ordered the steak sandwich. It was delicious, but it was IMPOSSIBLE to eat. They served it on the huge crusty slab of bread that was impossible to cut through but too big to pick up and bite into. We were trying not to let it bug us, but it definitely made me wonder, has anyone who works at the restaurant even tried to eat this? If they had just cut that hunk of bread in half and made it a sandwich instead of open-faced it would have been perfect. It got to the point where we were cracking up because it was comical how difficult it was to eat. We even asked for steak knives! Every time I would try and cut into my fries would slide off my plate or I’d be trying not to knock anything over. Overall, I know that may seem like a silly thing, but the experience of eating the food is just as important as how good it tastes!

Great service… Great vibe. The food was tasty… wings, crab cakes delicious! Steak: cooked to perfection… I ordered medium: It was cooked Medium!!!(which is a hard feat for even the most experienced chef!) Salmon: Perfect sear on outside, succulent and tender inside! Succotash was fresh a good accompaniment. Apple Tart/Chocolate Molten… exceptional ending to a enjoyable dinner. Kudos to SAMMY… your dedication and passion is evident in everything you experience once you step through that door, Food, Ambience, Attentive staff, your interaction with patrons!!! Great Job:-)

I’ve been here on a date. Food isn’t too expensive. The place is nicely decorated. It feels very cozy inside. I had the penne vodka with shrimp. The shrimp was well cooked and the sauce taste good and subtle. Nothing too heavy, nice amount of portion.

We just moved to the neighborhood and this was our first dinner. The service was outstanding(read: efficient, friendly, and chill). Great happy hour, drink and app discounts(real ones). We sat in what I will call the back porch. They have a great bar area with seating, the back porch which has a different vibe, and then a back yard area which has yet another vibe. The menu was one of the more interesting menus I have seen in BK. Tons of variety and everything on the menu was super interesting. The crab fritters are a must, with the perfect balance of real crab and corn. Watermelon salad was the perfect compliment.

If you’re in Clinton Hill and in need of a no-line brunch, you’re in a good spot. Grab a grapefruit beer to start off your meal(amazing!) then prepare to join an awesome meal. For brunch you can’t go wrong with the pancakes. Fluffy and served with a side of fruit, they’ll be on my mind for awhile. Definitely get a side of bacon if you’re on the hungrier side, as people with bigger appetites might want more grub. Pro tip: Hill Café was a cool spot on an unseasonably warm day, aka: their AC is on the top of its game for the dog days of summer.

This place has a great brunch! It’s a very nice and cozy little café in a very cool spot in Clinton Hill. Great for people watching. I came here with a friend, and we split the salmon benedict and the pancakes. The benedict was great and well portioned, but the stars of the meal were the pancakes. Thick, rich pancakes that are pan-fried for a crunchy shell and a warm, fluffy interior. Dusted with powdered sugar and topped w/syrup? Sign me up. Definitely check this place out! PS — Try the grapefruit hef for a delicious twist on a mimosa!

Ideally id give 3.5 stars but that’s not an option. If you’re in the neighborhood, check it out. There is outdoor and patio seating available to enjoy on a nice day. I liked that the menu wasn’t so large and overwhelming. Service was good and speedy. If I were in the area is stop by again. I ordered the pappardelle pasta and my friend had the crab and shrimp fritters, which I really liked.
