Food was healthy, delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. Service was outstanding. A jewel of a find. We’ll be back with a crowd next time. Bravo!

I had lived in Clinton Hill for about 5 years. Sami was a good friend of mine. I would go there after work to grade papers or just hang out with the staff. It was a home away from my apartment. The times when I was coming home late and it was closed, therefore forcing me to resort to the Outpost, I felt as though I was missing something. The staff was friendly and professional. The food was on point. I tried everything on the menu that I wasn’t allergic to. When one of the staff lost so much in the earthquake in Haiti, the neighborhood poured into the fundraiser there to support her. Just to show you how beautiful these people were to everyone. I’m definitely going to go visit sometime soon. See what has become of my old stomping grounds. Even the take out rocks.

I’ve lived around the block for a while now, been here several times. The brunch is quite nice. Lots of egg dishes to suit fans of chicken embryos. For dinner, the burger is GREAT, the fondue is a reasonably priced treat for two, the charcuterie is also delicious. My friend has had the mussels and complimented them highly. The staff has been very friendly on all my visits. I’m sad to be leaving the neighborhood soon. Will definitely try to stop here whenever I’m back in the area.

Only been here once. But WOW, that’s only because I’m an idiot and also because I have no friends in my hood. It’s soooo good and soooo lovely. Sitting in the backyard felt like the good old days when I lived in Belize. It’s like a little Caribbean garden back there. Every thing on the menu sounded mouth watering, and the 4 things we ordered(it was months ago… I can’t remember) were totally amazing. Plus great cocktails. I have no idea what the hell«French Pan-African» means, but I know I like it. I have to get back. soon.

Kush is now The Hill… same mgt… the food is amazing… I’m obsessed with the fetticini alfredo with cajun shrimp, side of calimari and 0.5L of German beer… Wish more people knew about this perfect little spot. They even have a happy hour and the décor and staff make you feel comfortable and part of the neighborhood.

I love Kush. It’s a small restaurant, that use to be a short walk away from me :( Another reason I miss the Stuy. Everything here is good. The brunch is great. My fav dinner item isn’t even Pan-African, but they do it so well… Penne Alla Vodka. Brought my dad here and he had the Red Snapper, even ate the eyeballs(yuck!), Andrew Zimmern would approve. Cocktails are *thumbs up*. Not too expensive and they deliver. I always enjoy coming here when the owner is around, because he really caters to the customers. The staff and cooks are consistent and really do give above great service.

Now called Hill Café — new renovations, new menu — really tasty and full bar. Very friendly staff. Have only tried a few items on the new menu but so far so good. My wife tried a tofu /veggie /rice thing, and I had a burger. Also tried the roasted chicken with mushroom risotto and the fettuccine with smoked chick. Laid back atmosphere, outdoor space. This area of Clinton Hill is really starting to take off.

REOPENEDUNDER A NEWNAMEWITH A NEWMENU, SAMEOWNERSHIP — Just an FYI that the owners of Kush Café have renamed it Hill Café and changed the menu to French American, so it’s a totally different place now but under the same owners. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m hoping that it’ll be as good as Kush was. They also added a bar.

Kush rolled, glass full, I prefer the better things… Loves me some Drake. And loves me some Kush.(The restaurant, not the weed, you potheads.) The cutest little spot, can easily be missed. But don’t you dare bypass it. Wander your way into the back garden — it’s a small oasis with greenery and a beautiful fountain nestled right outside the murder-ridden streets of Bed-Stuy. The waitress is the most delightful woman I’ve ever met. She’s super sweet and always makes me smile. The owner is an awesome, awesome dude. Seriously, I couldn’t ask for a better setting, people, food and drink combo. Absolutely get the salmon. It’s totally the *best I ever had*. Ok, I’ll try to stop with the Drake references. But no promises. Their signature drinks are damn good too. The one with tequila is my fave, but of course– anything with tequila is my fave. Don’t worry if you don’t got *money to blow*, this place ain’t too bad on the wallet. Order the salmon and tequila drink, and you’ll be *goin in* on that meal. I can’t promise you’ll feel like you *invented sex* and be able to make your *bed rock* with *every girl in the world* by the time you leave, but I do promise, you’ll have a *successful* night.

Let me start off by saying the service at Kush Café was awesome and the food was also good but not great. The menu has plenty of options and something for everyone. The restaurant is cute but we opted for the back patio which was great. They brought out bread with this lovely oil dip that had all sorts of chopped up veggies & herbs in it. We started off with the Mussels cooked in a lovely, very flavorful sauce and perfectly cooked. We shared the Seafood Crépe & Chicken Cordon Bleu. The Crêpe had various seafood cooked in a green curry béchamel served with a coconut cream and sautéed spinach – It was good but a bit too sweet and lacked the spicy kick that would have helped to balance it out nicely. The Cordon Bleu Chicken stuffed with crab meat, spinach and swiss cheese Served with mashed potatoes and julienned veggies – great sauce and beautiful presentation but the chicken was dry. Both dishes were beautifully presented and the portion sizes were very generous. The bf had a cocktail that was also quite tasty but can’t remember what it was called. The prices were very reasonable, the food was good, the ambiance was nice and the service was very friendly. Definitely a nice spot for a laid back dinner.

Starting with the bread — it was really warm and delicious. There was an interesting oil dip to go along with it(I’m not sure what was in it). I ordered the Kush Kush which was amazing: Tofu(I’m not even a vegetarian), wild rice with chick peas, green peas, corn, mushrooms, currants and topped with capers. I would definitely go back.

I’ve tried coming here a couple times, but it was always closed at really random times and days. I finally went on a Friday night and it was way better than I thought. The service was super friendly, and the patio out back was really cute. The menu has a variety of options from French, Italian, and North African cuisine. I had the Couscous Royal, and my boyfriend had the Blekossoh(tilapia wrapped in banana leaf). Both were really tasty, and were just enough to fill you up. The food took a little longer than expected to come out, but the service was so friendly and attentive that I didn’t really care. I’m glad that I finally got to check this place out.

I had the talipia wraped in banana leaf with rice and mixed vegetables. Holy… good stuff. Very tasty, good potion and a nice change.

I love this place and I wish I had more money so that I could come here more often. I will only talk about the dishes that I have eaten here(only have visited for dinner)… Fish Biekossoh — a nice dish but would prefer to order something else again on the menu. The Whole Trout — excellent dish and if you like exotic flavored fish, this is the one for you. and the plating is awesome! Vegetarian Wot is great, but if you are going to go veg, go aaalllllll the way with the Kush Kush! By far the best dish I have had here. I have also come here for my friend’s birthday party and we had a great time, the chef always comes out and says hello and the server has the best smile!

A wee update: Ate at Kush about 6 weeks ago with a friend as I was craving pasta. I know, pasta at a pan-African fusion place. But yes: my pasta was brilliant. Truly delicious. Linguini with clams and white wine. Here’s where it starts to get weird: the pasta is supposed to come with Basil. And, instead there’s a profusion of cilantro garnishing it. No worries, right? I’m Indian. But friends: if I wanted pasta with Desi flair, I’d make it. I want pasta with non-Desi flair. With basil. Like it says on the menu. I feel like the nice waitress might have told me there was no basil and then, I would have chosen another dish. Simple. The Chef came by to ask how everything was and I mentioned that my dish had no basil. His response: «Yah, basil goes bad too quickly. I never buy it.» Er. change the menu item? Then, we asked for cheese. Shoot me: I like cheese with my pasta even if it has shellfish. The waitress brings cheese, we have a lovely meal, we ask for the check and: we’re charged for the cheese. Why? Because the chef feels that my particular pasta needn’t have cheese so it’s up to me to pay for it. Er … I’m happy to pay and I wish that someone would have just told me that I would be doing just that. Two stars, friends, for whatever the above can be called …

Kush is a find in Clinton Hill. I have walked by this place for more than a year but never ventured in. I had heard good things but they are sometimes randomly closed and for some reason they give off a confusing feeling where I am not sure if this is a club or a café or what. For instance, the menu doesn’t list them open on Sunday yet there we were??? Went for brunch with Stephanie P and several friends… meat eaters, veggies, and vegans were all happy. Free mimosas. The food was just great and decently priced. The staff was very kind. Loss of a star cause there was a strange gas smell in the patio area and for overall randomness of the hours.

Kush is a cutesy restaurant run by 2 Senegalese gentlemen(who were actually super nice). Providing French Pan African food, the chef brings together the earthy spicy African flavors with any overlay of rich French zest. I had the seafood Maffe which was had a creamy peanut butter sauce base with assorted sea food like(shrimp, mussels, salmon and more) it came with couscous-it was excellent! We actually went here for my friend Mayeme’s 28th Birthday party(oh i miss her)(Happy B’Day!)-which was a riot! We showed up late… but it turned out OK at the end of the night, as her sister knew the owners which ended up being a good thing! Kush is has a tiny homey feel to it very Prospect heights /Clinton Hillesque!-I would recommend calling them for private parties-and please show up on time!(LOL!). In the summer they have outdoor seating too! Brunch here is great as well!

Love Kush! I am vegan, and have had great vegan food at Kush. I went with a fish-eating veggie who also delighted over her dish. The brothers who run this place are as cute as can be as well. Prices seen cheap compared to quality/quantity of food.

My first night in the city. May 17, 2007. I’m sorry to write such a belated review, but I’ve only just begun writing reviews, and, truthfully, it’s all I want to do! Anyway, I drove a 14 foot budget truck from Binghamton, NY to my new place in Brooklyn. That was not a fun drive, and to this day, I consider it one of my greatest accomplishments.(Eileen, I couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks for picking up the shoe when T. dropped it.) I promised Eileen a good solid dinner with some strong drinks. We ended up a couple of blocks away from my apartment, exhausted beyond comprehension and famished. Kush got the job done, but the service was spotty, and the food was unmemorable.

I must thank Kush Café for introducing me to Maffe, an african peanut butter stew. This may sound kind of weird to some, but it is absolutely delish! At Kush, they make a seafood maffe with mussels, shrimp, scallops, fish, and some vegetables. It is light with just the right taste of peanut butter. The stew is not thick at all and the peanut butter flavor is more subtle and not overpowering at all. This was the first dish I ever had at Kush Café and the only dish. I keep going back and getting the same thing! I loved this dish so much that I found a recipe online and now make my own vegetable maffe. Get it with the couscous. The put some chopped scallions on top to give it a slight onion flavor. I always want more. One slight negative is that the food seems to take a long time to come out, even when we are the only customers there. With that said, when I make the Maffe at home it takes forever so this is understandable. But when I do takeout, I dont know why they tell me 20 minutes, and then I show up 20 minutes later, only to have to wait an additional 15. I dont mind waiting, there is lots of interesting artwork to look at or you can always get a drink at the bar. The bar is small and has a limited selection.
