I thought this café was alright/average. There really wasnt anything special about it except for the ambiance and decorations. The service was OK, a little slow, I didnt find anything special about this café. The deserts were okay

What happened? I use to LOVE this place, but it changed. They no longer even offer French Fries, the menu became much shorter and staff changed too. Just overall experience was very poor, that’s after years of great meals there. We ask for bread, no one brings it. Waiter brings fewer plates than people at the table, one plate is actually damaged a little on the side. All plates are left on the edge of the table, you have to pass them around yourself. Menu was greatly reduced from what it was before. Really disappointed, this was a can’t miss café.

I used to like this place, I don’t know what happened. It’s a good breakfast place but the staff needs some actual training, except for a few good ones the waitstaff is incompetent and frankly lazy. The food is nothing spectacular either this more of a place for coffee and tea, nothing else. It deserves to be a three but not until they either train their waiters or just get rid of the ones that don’t do anything.

Their desserts are everything but the food is amazing too. A place everyone has to try!

This is my local go-to place for tea and desserts. The service is fast and the staff is very on top of their game. They offer a large assortment of organic teas. My personal favorites are the mango tea and the peach tea. As for desserts, the portions are fairly big. It’s worth trying this restaurant’s waffles and the size of the Masal Special Waffle does not disappoint. Not only do they give you a generous portion, the presentation of the waffle is on point. I would also recommend trying the Exotic Bomba. As a lover of mango flavored sorbet, I am very picky on the richness and taste. The mango used in this dessert is rich, creamy, and refreshing.

Perfect place to go to for tea and dessert. I love the atmosphere of this authentic turkish café. You can never go wrong with their turkish dumplings in yogurt sauce. For dessert, the kunefe is a must try! They also serve delicious waffles and you can ask for any toppings; I usually go for Nutella and bananas. They have an extensive list of teas, and delicious coffees. I love coming here at night, they’re open late which is a plus!

Our favorite café in sheepshead bay area. Coming here for our favorite kumpir(baked potato). Cheese, meat, potato pies are good too. Big choice of deserts and delicious turkish tea. But recently service got kinda slow but still good place to go.

I come here all the way from Queens and Manhattan. Mostly for their Turkish breakfast. The cheese assorti, 2 kinds of jam, honey, butter, olives, salad, a glass of tea, bread under 20 bucks. And 2 people can share it easily. Everyone who knows what a treasure freshly brewed Turkish tea is should pay a visit to this cute tea house. Oh I also love their kumpir(stuffed potato with corn, green pea, sausage, carrot, olives and topped with mayo and kerchup) and yengen sandwich. Also a fan of their desserts as well. Cant beat Turkish desserts. Summertime they have outdoor seats and being by the water makes these seats pretty enjoyable.

This cozy café located conveniently on Emmons ave is an excellent place for a date or a casual outing with friends. The servers are a bit distracted, but the quality of the food is consistent. They have a LARGE selection of tea and dessert which is always on point. I recommend the Yengen, Loaded potato, Tres Leches, pistachio baklava, and really you can’t go wrong with any of the food on the menu if you like Turkish food!

One of the best places on Emmons. Whether you want a real Turkish restaurant or late-night tea, you really can’t go wrong with this place. Management is great and so is the owner! Try the stuffed baked potato or Masal special toast, you won’t be disappointed.

One of my favorite places to go to for some tea and desert. The place is very nice and cozy if you are looking for a laid back type of night. I love that it’s open late on the weekends. My go to here is the rice pudding with apple tea. If you choose to come here for breakfast, their Turkish breakfast is amazing! This is probably the best omelette I have ever had in my life! It comes with a bunch of things so you can even split it for 2 people. Don’t think I will stop coming here. I did take off a star for the staff because they aren’t always very friendly and it’s tough to get their attention.

Very warm and welcoming staff. Been going here with friends for a little over a year. My friends and I during the winter don’t wanna go to the Starbucks drive thru since New York is freezing so we go to Masal. We grab a tea and some dessert after a long day at work. We chat for a little and head out. I really recommend this place if you wanna chat and chill.

Another good find, thanks to Unilocal!Trying to find a brunch spot on a whim in Sheepshead Bay, Masal came up, so off we went! It was a beautiful day so my friend and I decided to sit outside and nosh on some good Turkish eats. We ordered a pot of Turkish tea, the premium Turkish breakfast, a flat spinach pie, and a flat cheese pie(clearly we were feeling indulgent). Everything was absolutely delicious and so fresh! The premium Turkish breakfast was massive, and can easily feed two people. Warning: MUSTLOVECHEESE. And man do my friend and I love cheese. Both the spinach and cheese pies were very good and not a single bit was left unconsumed. Overall, I was very impressed with both quality and quantity of the food, not to mention the great prices. Though the outdoor seating area isn’t too large, the restaurant itself is. Inside, it’s huge and almost diner-looking, but still nice. The only reason this review isn’t five stars is because the service was a bit on the slow side, but we weren’t in a rush so it didn’t matter much.

Sunday was my first time here for brunch. We ordered the baked potato and sherpereds pie, toast, iced tea and an hot tea for our meal and it was delicious. The service was great. The waitresses were attentive. The décor is beautiful. The dessert was yummy and pretty unique. I will be coming back more often!

Been there several times, it’s my spot for a premium Turkish breakfast on a Sunday, in summers I sit outside and enjoy the canal and the vibrant community. The only con is the service, while its very friendly, it’s very slow. In summery, this is a very good place for a breakfast or evening coffee/tea with some desert.

So once i walked into this place its pretty much Eye Candy. Everything looks so delicious and i was told it really was. I may not have the same taste as everyone else! After a horrible dinner my best friend took me here to get some dessert. Unfortunately i’m lactose so most of the dessert they have was full of dairy except for the fruits which defeat the purpose of getting fruit from this place. I decided to take a chance an purchase a Moose dessert that was shaped like a Triangle. While i was waiting one of the Workers was talking to a beautiful blond girl and most not notice i was behind him because he stepped on my foot so hard to this day it is still black and blue. I screamed so loud and almost cried i swear to everyone i love i almost slapped the crap out this guy… He apologize and instead of offering me ice for my food him and all his coworkers laughed. I took my dessert home so i can put ice on my foot and enjoy a good movie while eating my Moose dessert, once i took one bite it wasn’t my cup of tea. personally didn’t enjoy it but i would try again just incase it was just a bad day for me.

Located near the water in Sheepshead Bay is an unexpected gem. I’m often wary of restaurants with gimmicks, and Masal does have an old fashioned car out front giving the place a somewhat circus like appearance from the outside. However, once you go in there are gorgeous mosaic tiles, beautiful lamps hanging from the ceilings and comfortable seats waiting to greet you. I was only there for dessert with my girlfriend and Win C. so this review will only focus on those portions of the menu. Our host was very nice and we were seated promptly. Our waiter came to us quickly. He seemed a bit tired and frazzled, but still was very courteous. Service was good during the evening though there were some oddities, nothing bad per se, but one thing that struck me as odd was when we asked for a water refill we got a whole new glass of water instead of having water poured from a pitcher. Again, nothing«bad» or worth complaining about, but it was idiosyncratic enough that I thought I’d mention it here. We couldn’t just decide on one thing so we ordered several dishes. Here’s what we had: DESSERTSAMPLER The small version of this came with six different items. I admit I didn’t catch the name of every item, but I can say the Baklava with Pistachio was really tasty and had a nice chew. I also loved the Pistachio roll(notice a theme?). The other items were good, but not quite as sweet as I would have liked(including the fig, which surprised me). Still, this is a great way to try several different desserts to see what you would like to get more of in the future. 3CHOCOLATEMOUSSECAKE Featuring white and dark chocolate mousse, this was a very light cake. You’d think it would be thick and almost like fudge from looking at it, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how soft it was, and how the sweetness was at just the right level. I’ve had better chocolate cake before, but it was a solid slice. KUNEFE This was the grand prize winner of the«best dessert» item during my visit. A crust made from long thin noodle threads is baked with cheese and simple syrup is added in to create one of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten. Both the outer edge and the top of this dessert are crispy, then the middle and cheese add some amazing soft chewiness. The result is a mash up of savory and sweet with crispy and chewy textures. This was my favorite of the evening. I also got to have the Turkish Coffee, which was nice and rich tasting. I had it without any milk or sugar to get the full flavor and it was great! I’d happily come back here for dessert any time and I look forward to trying their regular food in the future as well!

Excellent turkish food! When I first moved to the area, this place was known as the dessert place to go. So the first couple of times I went in, it was for dessert. High quality no matter what you try. The last time I went in with my Turkish roommate for what was described to me as the best stuffed baked potato ever. It certainly did not disappoint. It was cooked well, with sausage, mustard, ketchup, black and green olives, sour cream… a big old piece of heaven. I ate the entire thing! I also had the turkish coffee which was great, and pretty standard turkish coffee(nothing like regular coffee just in case you don’t realize the strength to this coffee). The furniture is fantastic, and ambience is lively. Most of the times I’ve been here the place has been busy, but I haven’t had to wait long for a table. The wait staff is great coming to take your order, decent when bringing out your food, but when you are finished and ready to pay the bill, not one to be found. It was the most odd thing. But you shouldn’t let that deter you from trying the food.
