Soggy fries that tasted like they had been freezerburned, weak side salad, supremely slow service. Chicken was passable but was lukewarm. This place is nowhere near the level of quality as the Pio Pio Riko in Sunnyside, Queens. Avoid this spot.

Service here is a nightmare. The girls they hire have no idea what they are doing and they don’t train them well. We tried to place an order for delivery and they couldn’t understand us so we had to make the trek out there. The lomo salteado was a good choice but the chicharron de pescado was inedible. It was WAY over salted. I asked for ketchup and they brought me that traditional red squeeze bottle. When I squeezed… mayo came out. Who is the idiot that puts mayo in a red squeeze bottle.

It’s fine, but definitely not the best Peruvian food I’ve ever had. Papa a la huancaina: The huancaina sauce was bland, and there wasn’t nearly enough of it, and the potatoes they used weren’t really the right potatoes for this dish, so the whole thing was sort of dry. Lomo saltado: Pretty good. I’ve had better, but still good. Salsa de huacatay(green sauce): loved it!

Went only once and this place seems underrated. Got their chicken and a shrimp ceviche as an appetizer and both were very good. They also served a complementary glass of red which was a very nice surprise. Not many people at the restaurant that night but I wish them success.

The girl tried playing dumb and charged us more. When we spoke to her in Spanish, she played dumber. The anticuchos were cold and the ceviche warm. Looks and feels like a place you might end up going after a really bad night of drinking, when you don’t really care what or where you eat.

This place has seriously fallen off! Lately the chicken has not been as good. The French fries are ALWAYS soggy, even if you ask for extra crunchy. The green sauce just isn’t as good as it used to be, its watery. What’s most upsetting is their EXTREMELYPOORCUSTOMERSERVICE!!! A couple times now they have gotten our order wrong. Ie you order white meat and get dark meat. And you call to tell them and they say they are too busy to deliver you the correct meal. that happened again tonight. But this time the dark meat was not cooked fully and it was disgusting. We called. They didn’t want to re deliver. They went back and forth with us, telling us they were too busy. We told them we don’t care. They said the chickens at the shop were all fine, and mine should be too. Never mind it’s just not what I ordered. Some how we got them to agree to re deliver. They said it would take an hour and that they wanted me to give them back my half eaten dark meat. So I just ate the rice and beans and waited. 2 hours later, I’m not joking, they still haven’t shown up. I call just now. The lady speaks in Spanish to some other person she tells me they are closing and the delivery guy is not coming back for the night. I think I’m going to stop ordering from here. No thanks

Some of the best rotisserie chicken I have ever had! I get food from here at least once a week, definitely worth checking out!

The chicken, sauces and both kinds of plantains are all great. The french fries can be soggy, the salad is low-quality with soaking wet lettuce and the beans are watery. But, it’s all so cheap and so much food that all can be forgiven. The service is slow but friendly, and they give you a free glass of table wine. However, the billing is super shady. My meal last night was $ 21 plus a $ 2 soda. The bill charged $ 24 for the food, $ 2 for the soda and then with nothing else noted, mysteriously totaled up to $ 31. When I had them explain, they said that the higher cost of the meal was tax and the additional $ 5 that mysteriously appeared was also the tax? After a few more minutes and some time spent with a calculator, they told me that the extra charge was the tip. It seems like they hope that customers won’t look closely enough and will tip them again, but if not, they still are making at least a 20% tip! I’ll still eat here, but I’ll be sure to review my bill. Also, it says in the info that they do not take credit cards but I paid with my credit card last night.

The rotisserie chicken is delicious, and easy on the wallet. I live nearby, so it’s a great standby in case I’m too lazy to make dinner.

Pio Pio is a savior in our office since we’re all looking for loads of food for a cheap, cheap price. We literally come here once a week to get the Lunch Special of ½ Rotisserie Chicken with Rice and Beans for like $ 6. I’m not even kidding. The meal is really delicious and filling especially for that price. Haven’t tried anything else but why would you need to? They specialize in Peruvian Chicken so get that. The servers are always really nice too. They give us free glasses of wine while we wait for our to-go orders. I don’t know if it’s because we’re regulars but it’s hard to find a genuine smile AND a free glass of wine from restaurants these days.

This place has character. Food was really good — not outstanding. Green sauce is great. Ambiance is old-school 80s pizzarea feel. No frills, Service was decent, however serious english/spanish barrier going on —either speak spanish or be prepared to play charades if you have a special request. Free wine. They even put together some pisco sour for us somehow. And it was GOOD. Prices are pretty low — and especially for this I would go back. The bill was sort-of shady, but I wasn’t going to split hairs. An FYI about the service and bill — if you go to south american you will realize that often the tip is included in the bill and the service is not what you are used to in US. I experience this in Peru. I met americans traveling through south america who were exchange students — they explained to me that waiters are often just payed an hourly rate and so the culture is that they don’t have the same incentive to be efficient and prompt as they do here.

I went once with my boyfriend and my family, and all of us good time. Things I liked: Food was delicious. Their raw fish dish was refreshing and unique. the hugh platter of deep-fried dish had everything fried from fish, seafood, and veggies. It was a good item for a big group. Things that are so-so: The interior is quite worn-out. It’s pretty dark to be a family restaurant. It’s more like a pub atmosphere. It would be okay if you want a casual and comfy place.

I’m basing my review on multiple delivery orders from Pio Pio, I have never had the chance to eat in the restaurant. Pio Pio’s Peruvian food is pretty awesome. The chicken fried rice, rotisserie chicken, and rice and beans, all were tops! The seafood is very fresh and delicious as well. The prices are very reasonable. You get a lot of food for your money. Additionally, the delivery is fast. If your looking for some Latin comfort food Pio Pio is the place to go!

Go in the back and check out these pollos spinnin on at least 38“s!!! its amazing. Also, the«Legit popped corn» is really good, you dont even need that green sauce because they are salty and sweet like Shakira singing in Swahili during the world cup. I have never been to South America, but I have lived in New York for a while and been to plenty of these rotisserie jump-offs, and this is the real deal. The crowed is a perfect mix between after work latino men drinking beer, old artists eating while on the cell phone with(probably) no one, young hippies on a date drinking a beer at lunchtime, and confused Polaks who have heard of this great place in Spanish Greenpoint that’s cheap and tasty. The only reason why its not 5 stars is due to the curiously higher prices on the checks than what the menu denotes. It seems that I am always being charged an extra 50 cents to a dollar per item– maybe its an old menu… maybe its because im Polish :(

FACT: The ceviche is not only amazing, it’s also el cheapo. FACT: The rotisserie chicken is the best I’ve ever had. FACT: I will eat here on the regular. Hoodrats, prepare to be going here with me. It’s value to cost ratio is most settling.

Free wine on the house. Delicious green sauce and nuts to munch on while waiting for the whole chicken, rice, beans, fries, and avocado salad that my boyfriend and I shared. All for $ 25.00 minus tip. Great service too! :)

Pio Pio makes great rotisserie chicken that is served with addictive green«crack» sauce that you can’t get enough of. During the past 4 years that I’ve been ordering from Pio Pio, I have had food poisoning twice(as in, explosive vomiting less than 20 minutes after ingesting said food), so I am wary of ordering their ceviches, although they are pretty good. I’ve been pretty disappointed with most of the menu, but I blame myself… with a restaurant subtitle like«El Pollo Mas Rico!» I am an idiot if I order anything but the chicken. ‘Nuf said. Stick with the chicken, rice & beans, maduros and fried yucca, which is hit or miss, but delicious when cooked properly. Get as much of that green sauce as they will give you, it makes anything you dip in it taste awesome, even their soggy-ass fries! The chicken makes great leftovers the next day – I often fight my dog for them. He usually wins. Avoid the salads, the tomatoes are always green and hard as rocks, same goes for the avocadoes, and the lettuce is white to pale green romaine, about as tasty and the butt-end of a celery stick.

I wanted to give this place 4 stars… because I remember walking by here really late one night and saw they had tamales on the menu(something that doesn’t seem all THAT common in Peruvian restaurants!). I came by for lunch since I was in the hood… and I must say, I was a little bit disappointed. Chicken tamale — was very ‘wet’, portion was decent, loaded with a lot of onions. ¼ Chicken combo — server was very accommodating when I asked for any part of the chicken except the drumstick. The beans were good, but it wasn’t my favorite. The chicken was tasty but I feel like the meat was kinda dry. I’ve had better, moist chicken elsewhere. The green sauce wasn’t as spicy as other places, I think they put some lime/lemon in it… so it was mild for me. Tip-bits: Red wine(small serving) provided 50 cents for a to-go green sauce Bathrooms to the left, back by the bar. Single sex bathrooms.

I love this place. I showed up 40 minutes before closing with a group of 8 or 9 hopeful, hungry, tipsy people too old to enjoy the loud hipster bar down the block. Large groups before closing are often cause for groans and eyerolling from waitstaff. Not here. They were so sweet to us. And not just us, they allowed the overserved, overfed guy who passed out on the table behind us snooze away next to his beans & rice. The food was awesome. I had a massive dish of ceviche for about $ 15, and sampled some of the pork dishes going around the table. I definitely want to go back here.(If only the G train would be so kind to us…)
