Taco Cabana

I’ve only been to this location once and I will not be returning. The food itself was not terrible (not great, though) but it still let a lot to be desired. When we first walked in, the guy at the register (Octavius) didn’t so much as crack a smile, not even a «hello.» Okay, so whatever; no big deal. But then, my niece (who’d never been here before) asked how big the tortilla bowls were for their bowl meals. He didn’t say anything at all; he just turned around and walked to the back. We didn’t realize he was going to grab a bowl to show us, but that’s exactly what he did — with his bare hands. He brought out a bowl with his bare hand. I hope that thing got thrown away. Still not having said a single word to us, we start to order. I got the feeling he didn’t care about this job one way or another as he rang up our order asking us to repeat several points. We noticed when we sat down and glanced at the receipt that he even input the OPPOSITE of what we asked for (he put down NO cheese instead of extra). When we asked about it (once again, without saying a single word to us) he just turns and grabs a condiment cup of cheese. I guess we got what we wanted, but I’m just not used to this whole «don’t give a damn about you» attitude he showed us.
The only thing I will say about the food is that when I got my plate (I got the sampler), the flauta was a total joke. It was fried mostly open instead of rolled and there was barely any meat in it.
So, that was my experience here. Make your own judgement. I’ve heard lots of good things about this place but when it was my turn I was far from impressed.

I wish I could leave half a star. We’ve visited the Texas Ave location many times and never had a problem. The tortillas were cold! We got them to give us new ones and these tasted raw. The two quesadilla we ordered had almost no meat. Youd get an entire piece with nothing but cheese and pico. It was very disappointing. Lesson learned.

Horrible experience– my husbands taco only had meat on it (???) no lettuce, no cheese nothing. I had a chicken fiesta salad and I think they left off the fiesta– because there wasn’t any kind of party happening in there. It just left us craving Taco Bell, which we had later– got twice as much food, it tasted 100% better and was still cheaper than this dump. AVOID.

Dirty doesn’t go far enough to describe this place. I stopped by on Friday night around 9pm. It looked like a bomb went off behind the counter. A total mess. Even the employees were covered in food.

I prefer Rosa’s but this is a great second choice. Can’t go wrong with either.
