Best Korean BBQ I’ve ever had. Get the beef combo and the lunch box. It’s not all you can eat and will cost you about $ 30/person to feel full but the meat quality is excellent.

Ate here with my wife for lunch. I love everything except the price. With increased gratuity percentage, the total bill came to $ 100… For a Saturday Lunch… i know this place is legit but.IDK. 100 for two is like. it should be our anniversary meal. I will comeback but probably in 3 months after! Lower your damn bill KHD!!!

I was absolutely thrilled with my first dining experience at this restaurant. My family and I came here for my brothers graduation dinner on a Thursday night. The place looked packed inside and there were quite a few people waiting outside so I thought we would wait forever. It turned out that the wait was 10 minutes, but they sat us in less than 5. I was shocked. This is a traditional looking Korean BBQ restaurant. You get a little grill in front of you except your server comes and cooks it for you which definitely surprised me. Typically, you cook it yourself. I don’t eat red meat and neither does my mom, so I was slightly worried that I wouldn’t find anything that appealed to me, since meat is obviously the specialty at this restaurant. My mom and I each ordered the seafood stew. WOW. It was one of the best seafood dishes that I’d had in a long time. It was super fresh and flavorful. It had an assortment of veggies, shrimp, and clams. I will for sure order it again. My dad and brother ordered the brisket and rib eye and they loved it. The meat looked very high quality. On top of the amazing food, the service was incredible. Our server, Isaac provided me and my family with exceptional service. Every time the meat needed to be turned over on the grill, there he was to flip it. At one point, my dad dropped one of his chopsticks and as my dad was still leaning over to pick it up, Isaac had already set down a brand new pair of chopsticks on the table. I’m not exaggerating whatsoever. If you are looking for an amazing Korean BBQ place in Orange County, then I would highly recommend coming to this place. If you show up without a reservation, don’t be discouraged by all the people waiting. Chances are you will have a short wait time like I did!

Tried this place out because of all the hype and Unilocal reviews but I was very disappointed. I went on a Wednesday afternoon when they are not busy because I read on Unilocal that the servers accidentally burn the meat. It was not busy at all(only 4 tables including mine) but I had to ask multiple times for a server to come to my table. Meat: GOOD — the meat quality is better than other kbbq places because of the marbling however the quantity is very small. A small beef combo is good enough for one person to be full which is $ 60(I’m a pretty small person). Service: TERRIBLE — The servers are not very polite and were too busy playing around to notice my table or the table next to me. They burnt part of our brisket order and mixed our cooked meat with the raw meat! Since it was our first time we were unsure if we were suppose to flip the eggs on the side of the grill. We had to ask in order for our server to do so. When he flipped the egg, he used the same tongs that touched the raw meat!!! Not only that, he spilled some of the egg on the grill and left so I sat there scrapping the eggs off. Overall: — It was NOTWORTH the price!

Quality over quantity, Kang Ho Dong is sure to delight with every bite! I’ve been to the original LA location in Ktown and knew to expect nothing but the best from this franchise. Nevertheless, this OC Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong really lived up to my expectation and more. Parking is much easier than in LA(no valet necessary!) with the spacious plaza parking lot(but it does get fairly busy). The line gets long but manageable with the texting system. We arrived before 5PM and there was already a wait. The hostess quickly took down our cell phone number so we can wander around the plaza(Daiso, The Face Shop, Aritaum, and the likes for the ladies). Every restaurant should be using this texting system! We got: Large Pork Combo $ 74.99 good for up to 5 people(Small is $ 42.99 and good for 2 – 3 people) — Premium seared pork belly, — Premium pork jowl, — Marinated pork collar, instead of(alternative: thinly sliced spicy pork belly) — beef brisket soybean paste stew, instead of(alternative: kimchi stew) Seafood pancake — not the best I’ve ever had but still enjoyable. We got it because we had 6 people and wanted to make sure everyone had enough to eat. The service is excellent! William our server took amazing care of us from start to finish. We rarely reached for the bell knowing that he will be back soon. The side dishes(steamed egg, corn cheese, mushroom, onion, sweet potato, and kimchi) and tea were replenished throughout the night. William prepared each meat very skillfully and cut it up nicely into bite size for us. We felt the waiters were all very attentive and polite. The other nice surprise is the advanced vent system. The vent lowers right on top of the meat and for the first time coming out of a Korean BBQ restaurant, we did not smell like layers of meat fat. Woohoo! Beckjeong FTW! Interesting side note: they only have beef and pork dishes. We could not find a single chicken or fish item. We also enjoyed the free beer for Father’s Day(I know my dad did!) Kang Ho Dong is definitely a hit on the wallet but every bite is worth it!

I’ve had the small and large beef combo. At two separate occasions of course. When you’ve been spoiled by easily accessible AYCEKBBQ here in Southern California, you might hesitate spending $ 60+ on non-AYCE KBBQ. HOWEVER, if you’re up for some good quality cuts of beef, I’d say give Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong a try. You get 3 meats(brisket, boneless short rib, prime boneless short rib or prime rib eye), a choice of one stew for the table and endless banchans(side dishes). The downer is probably the one stew for the entire table. It kind of makes sense when you’re sharing between two people, but when you’re sharing one stew for a table of four… that’s like one spoonful per person. I think they want you to add additional items to rack up the price. Yes, the meat is the focus here, but I want my own stew sometimes too! The grill has 3 little compartments surrounding it that is filled with corn and cheese(which melts as the grill heats up), peppers and onions which get cooked by the meat drippings and heat, and egg(steamed by the heat). I’ve seen many tables order the lunch box(or dosirak) which is essentially mixed up rice that’s shaken in a metal box. If you fear not filling up on the meats, just order one of those. They look pretty good.

Some of the best Korean BBQ ever! You can definitely tell the meat quality is better than usual Korean BBQ placed. The service is definitely better than most Korean restaurants. The place looks clean. They waitresses work hard. They cook and cut your meat. They keep things going. Never had the egg cooked on the side of the grill before. You can also cook kimchi and veggies in another grill side pocket. 3rd pouch is for cheese and corn. The cheese melts as your meat cooks on the grill. The sides were all good. The deng jang jjigae was also good. Prices for lunch were not bad at all. They have different options but we did $ 99 combo which feeds about 3 adults. Perfect. Definitely will be back.

For those who don’t know, there is a huge difference between AYCE(all you can eat) Korean bbq and high quality Korean bbq. This place is not of the highest quality level, but it’s pretty darn yummy for what it is. A place you can eat regularly, and that you don’t need a special occasion for. I am gonna give this place a god review eve though I don’t care for all of the food. I know taste is subjective. I personal don’t care for marinated Korean bbq and most of the items here are marinated. The meat quality is always pretty high quality. And they do skittle slow cooked egg and cream corn on the grill. The best part about this place is the service. The owner or manager has really set a high standard for the staff here. There is a ton of waiters here and they are all busy assuring you get great service. The only improvement needs to be the line. Get here before 5:30 or you will wait, and wait and wait. Up to 90 mins. I wish they took reservations. Enjoy your meal!

I came here around 12am with two of my girlfriends and we really enjoyed the food and service! They were not only timely with grilling our food but they were even courteous the whole time! Our servers were Young and Daniel and they were honestly the best servers by far! My meat was grilled with so much care lol. Even though it must me tough working at this hour and with loud customers, Young and Daniel were nevertheless so nice and caring! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and food was obviously delicious. P. s. ladies! Servers here are pretty cute. Just saying

The KBBQ here is so good. It is not an AYCE restaurant but they have plenty of filling pre-set options or you could purchase by the dish. I’m still debating if the price is worth it but the food is really good. Our dinner on Saturday night was around $ 200 for 7 people(4 adults, 3 kids). The wait was approximately an hour but they’ll take down your number and text you so you can walk around the plaza and do whatever. I would definitely recommend the beef combo over the pork combo it was just better. However I really liked the spicy pork so get yourself one of those dishes! They also cook all the meets for you so you don’t have to worry about it. Our server was great and cooked perfectly! I also really liked the sides of corn cheese and the egg they had cooking on our stove. Overall Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong is a must try and I can’t wait to come back! Tip: during this month they also have a free ricebox promotion but you have to post something on instagram.

If you are ever near Buena Park/Fullerton and can’t decide what to eat then stop by this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed. The wait is not that long compared to the Los Angeles location. Weekdays can run anywhere from 15 – 40 minutes whereas weekends can be 30 minutes to an hour wait. I went there for a Saturday dinner(Prime Time) party of 7 and waited 45 minutes. They have a notification service where they txt you when it is your time to get seated. This is very useful since you can wander off around the plaza if you wish. KHD(Kang Ho Dong) is a service restaurant where they cook the meat/pork for you. I enjoy cooking meat myself but sometimes it feels nice not having to worry about cooking and just drink some soju while they do all the grilling. TIP: Ask them for sesame oil for you to pour on your salt plate. It is for you to dip your meat in. You also have a bigger bowl with sweet dipping sauce for your meats. BEEFCOMBO!!! Never disappoints. A small combo can feed 2 people with leftovers or 3 people perfectly. Thinly Sliced Briskets — First course of the combo. Great quality. I recommend dipping this meat with the sesame oil/salt condiment. Prime Boneless Short Ribs — Second course of the combo. When first ordering you have the option to choose either this OR Prime Rib Eye. I enjoy rib eye but over here, I recommend getting the Prime Boneless Short Ribs. Taste a lot better IMO. Marinated Boneless Short Ribs — LASTCOURSE! By this course I am getting full. This is my favorite course and I LOVE the garlic marinated with the short ribs. It is mouth watery and the smell is to die for. In conclusion, this is a great place to go if you love meat/pork. Their quality and service is great and it’s an awesome place to go catch dinner and drink with friends or your significant other.

This place is crazy packed! Pretty long wait time on a… Friday night. The place is huge and pretty loud. I think it’s a cool Korean bbq joint. It’s not ayce but their sets have plenty of food. Not sure if the beef is prime??? It lacked marbling and overall mouthfeel. We ordered the tartare, small set, and fried rice. The tartare is omg massive. That thing is for at least 4 ppl. Meat was super cold, comes with raw egg and Korean pear on the sides. Pretty good but portion is too big. Fried rice was pretty good. They mix it in a box when they get to your table and I’m surprised no ones ever had it slip out of their hands… As for the grill, I like how they cook everything for you and check on the meat every 10 seconds. There’s a middle hood fan that moves up and down and some servers move it up and down which is kind of annoying. But then the tall servers look like they’re struggling. Cool idea but kind of impractical for workers? I didn’t like the egg section of the grill… it doesn’t taste the same as the ones in the pot. more dense and just cooked egg. I did enjoy the corn cheese though! And the sauces were great. Another thing was that the servers would say one thing and another server would come and do something else… Haha. Ex. ‘The egg needs to cook so don’t move the grill yet’. 5 seconds later another server changes the entire grill. Or we didn’t get asked what temp we wanted our steak until it was already medium. Womp womp. Still. Pretty cool place! And they’re opening one in Irvine!

I love that I finally got to try Kang Ho Dong! The wait was about 45 mins, as expected so not too bad. BUT the food! I love their meat and how good their quality is. Yes, it isn’t AYCE but really, I went with my bf and we got the small combo and still to go’d some meat home. It was more than enough for 2 – 3 people. THECORNCHEEESE! TBH, the corn cheese is what got me so excited for this place, and now the meat quality is good too?! I’d rather have this over AYCE any day. Can’t wait to be back!

Oh my goodnahssss. SO and I came in on a Monday night around 11:30. We were seated quickly as the place was fairly empty. We decided on the small beef combo, which comes with Brisket, Marinated Boneless Short Rib, Prime Boneless Short Rib or Prime Rib Eye(we decided on Rib Eye), and Soybean Paste Stew or Kimchi Stew(we chose Kimchi Stew). We got an assortment of banchan, salad, corn cheese, veggies, and scrambled egg. Let me tell you the number 1 reason why my SO loves this place so much: THESERVERSCOOKFORYOU. They do a great job too! All our meat was cooked perfectly and exactly medium rare like we like it. All we have to do is eat eat eat. This place is effing legit. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Reviewers say that it is on the pricier side, but if you look at all the stuff you’re getting, its totally worth it. The meat is top notch and the service is great. This is as good as it gets in the KBBQ scene.

Yes, it’s pricey, not AYCE, and there’s a long wait; however, totally worth it IMO. Hands down the highest quality KBBQ I’ve ever had. The brisket was definitely my favorite — excellent flavor and texture, and NOTHING like the other brisket at the AYCE spots. The short ribs are a little too fatty for my liking, but it really does melt in your mouth. The sides are scrumptious and endless, so keep asking for more! I love the cheese corn, soft scrambled egg, the kimchi, the pancake, the potato salad, the radish wraps, and the bean sprouts — YUM! The servers cook everything for you, but be careful to spot the newbies who will burn your precious meat. Enjoy!

Expensive but high quality! They have combos or a la cart depending on your group size and how hungry you are. We came with a group of 7 and got one large and one small beef combo. I’d recommend just getting two larges because it wasn’t enough for us. They don’t have too many banchan, and I missed my usual potato salad and rice paper but I guess the authentic way to eat kbbq is with veggies. This way, you don’t get too full off of all the sides and really enjoy the meat. The meat quality was very good! My favorite was the short rib which was on the sweeter side. Also, the cheesy corn and tofu were really good! Ask for more because it’s unlimited.

YUM!!! This place is legit y’all. Now one of my top 2BBQ places(alongside with All That BBQ). Take note: 1. It’s not all you can eat(so for all you monstrous eaters I can see how it’ll get pretty pricey) but I don’t mind because the small beef combo filled my boyfriend and I up quick! 2. All sides(salad, kim chi, corn and cheese, steamed egg) are free refills with the combo! 3. Combos come with a soybean or kim chi stew(which is like tofu soup. Beware cuz the kim chi one was SALTY!) 4. The server cooks for you. The ENTIRE time!!! Best thing ever: D 5. Super spacious and clean restaurant with brand new grills! 6. Don’t forget to ask for sesame oil in the salt if not they don’t automatically give it to you

I came here for my birthday back in December, and it is hands down the best Korean BBQ I’ve ever had!!! I’ve heard a lot about it from other friends but never got a chance to try it and I’m so glad I did. I came here for a late lunch on a Sunday at around 1:30pm and we only waited 5 – 10 minutes. We ordered the kimchi fried rice, and the small beef combo and we chose brisket, rib eye, and short rib. Everything was so delicious! The meat was extremely good quality and marinated very well. Since it was our first time, the waiters were patient with us and explained to us the different types of meat they had. They also have a lot of side dishes and the grill is really unique. There’s cavities around the grill, and in one of them, there’s warmly melted corn cheese and in the other pocket, there’s creamy egg. They pour the liquid egg mixture into the the pocket when you’re seated and then it cooks for about 20 minutes or so. The egg is creamy and goes really well with the meat. All of the meats were extremely juicy and tender. Brisket is usually the least flavorful and lowest quality of meat, but even the brisket here, you could just taste, was good quality meat! We ordered the small beef combo for just the two of us and we actually didn’t finish it. We took the fried rice and ¼ of the meat home. The leftovers were still really good! Definitely recommend this place if you’re craving KBBQ and in the area!!!

GOODGODTHATGGOTSAL! All I can say is get the ggotsal(prime boneless short rib), you will not be disappointed. Holy hell, I’m still salivating over that marvelous marbling… I came here on a Sunday Night with a party of 6. The wait wasn’t as bad as I heard it could get; we were seated within one hour of putting our names down. They have a texting system to notify you when your table is almost ready. It’s perfect because you can walk around/explore the plaza while you wait for your table. Having eaten sparingly throughout the day, we were famished. Therefore, we decided on a Large Beef Combo and Small Pork Combo. Beef combo consists of beef brisket, marinated boneless short rib, and prime boneless short rib OR prime rib eye. Pork Combo has pork belly, pork jowl, and marinated pork collar OR spicy pork belly. One of the first things you may notice here is the quality; definitely higher marbling which means more succulent meat. The portion size seems a bit small for what you pay. I think they have weaker burners on purpose so that the meat cooks slower and it’ll fill you up so that you won’t really complain about their small portion sizes. This place is also different from other typical Korean BBQ joints in that the workers actually help cook for you. You may or may not like that. I fall into the former category; I prefer to do my own cooking. Oh, and the combos include all the corn cheese and steamed egg to your heart’s content. Sounds too good to be true! Yea well it is. too bad the damn steamed egg takes forever to cook… cooking the steamed egg in the vat takes close to 25 minutes; maybe we just had a faulty stove, who knows. Located in a large complex with a bunch of other stores and restaurants; parking can suck especially around the dinner rush.

A bit of way off the freeway but totally worth it. The wait time for a sunday early dinner was still a half hour. My family of four went with the combo of brisket and another beef, along with some spicy pork. We probably didn’t need to order the spicy pork as we were pretty full by the time all the beef was cooked and cut up. I now prefer the non All You Can eat Korean BBQ joints because i spend so much time worrying about cooking the meat that i enjoy my own food.

I was taken here by my sister on my birthday after being told we were getting Korean B.B.Q. for dinner. Based on my past experiences, I was expecting a typical all-you-can eat spot. On the way here, my sister was giving me the details about this restaurant. «Oh I took my friends here last time and they LOVED it!», as she proceeded to explain in utter excitement. Being skeptical of her opinion, I assumed it was going to be just like any Korean B.B.Q. place I have been too. After entering the shopping center, my sister dropped me off in the front where a large crowd stood, huddled under heat lamps. I told to sign us up on the waiting list as she circled around in her car looking for parking in the relatively small lot shared by many businesses. «Oh Great, a waiting list. Just like any other Korean B.B.Q. joint», I thought to myself. The receptionist lady greeted me in the front, seemingly busy on her iPad as she was constantly text messaging at a rapid rate. She took down my information on her iPad and told me I would be notified via text message when a table was soon to be open. The approximate wait time was 20 minutes. Afterwards, I met up with my sister and we went grocery shopping at a nearby Korean supermarket. After shopping around the supermarket and enjoying their free samples, I finally received a text message from the restaurant. We began to make our way back. After checking in with the receptionist lady, we were instructed to wait while our table was being prepared. «Oh great, more waiting», I thought to myself as I began to grow impatient. After about another 10 minute wait, we were finally seated. «So what’s so different about this place»? I asked my sister. «You’ll see», she replied with a mischievous smile on her face. Our server came over and placed sides on our table. «Meh, typical side dishes», I thought to myself. Shortly after we placed our order, our server came with our tofu soup as well as our first meat dish. He placed the meat on the grill and began grilling the meat. As I reached for the tongs to turn the meat, my sister stopped me. The server came by moments later and turned the meat, I later found out that this Korean BBQ restaurant does not require their guests to cook the meat themselves. After biting into the cooked meat, I quickly changed from a skeptic to a believer as I was overwhelmed with the tastiness and texture of the meat, marinated and grilled to perfection. In summary, the service was excellent and the food was amazing. Being use to eating KBBQ in the $ 20−25/person range, I’ve never had premium KBBQ with the caliber of service and meats that this restaurant provided. I was overall very impressed and would recommended this restaurant for anyone who is looking for a step up from their typical/usual all-you-can-eat KBBQ spots. Although Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong Korean BBQ is not an all-you-can-eat restaurant, you truly get what you pay for. Highly recommended for all Korean BBQ lovers who are willing to pay a little extra for exponentially higher grades of meats and service.

Baekjeong in Fullerton is a must for KBBQ! I always leave here feeling more than content because this is a solid 5 star restaurant! Service is always super quick and friendly(props to Joon Ho and Andrew for always hooking it up with great service whenever I come… which is lowkey like twice a week cause WHYNOT lol)!!! Love how the ventilation is super effective and does not leave you smelling like a typical KBBQ place. The sides always seem fresh and the consistency of the meat quality is ALWAYS on point! Everything is so tasty I always have a hard time choosing which meats/dishes to eat! Just FYI cooking the sweet potato side on the grill is also super boooooooomb. Dined here for the first time. I’ve actually had it before in Hawaii as a different name(678). I’ve recently heard it is the same company as Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong. Really happy I don’t have to wait until my annual trip to Hawaii to enjoy it! Suggestions: the combos are good for 2 people. It’s around 50 bucks for the smaller combo. Gives you 3 – 4 meats and a stew. If you like the fancier delicacy meats like beef Tounge or pork jowl, they are not in any of the combos. You will have to order them separate, but well worth it! The service here is 5 stars. Waiters are very courteous. I love Sesame oil & salt for dipping, and their secret sauce is amazing too! There is no dessert here, but 85bakery is in the same plaza. This location is a big win for foodies!

The wait was ~ 45 minutes @ 7:30 pm on a Friday. Not only the secret sauce but the entire meal is on the sweet side. Most banchan side dishes are pickled in vinegar, including the raw yellow onions in the sauce. For two people, the small beef combo is more than enough. Even if you don’t get the combo, you’re looking at ~ $ 88(libations included). Brisket is fatty like at AYCE Flower Pig. With the sauce, brisket and boneless short rib taste like candied meat b/c of the caramelized sauce. I think I prefer AYCE Cham Sut Gol(+ ice cream) or going to Anjins/Tsuruhashi for more umami flavours and meat options. However the kimchi stew here is on point but the yukke is $ 25(worth my life!). After doing some bad math in my head, I realized Kang Ho Dong makes bank w/this chain — on top of what he makes elsewhere. I probably won’t come again b/c there are places closer + better suited for my palate. Even when/if they open the Irvine location, I’ll probably stick to my favorite K/J BBQ places or try ones I haven’t tried instead of coming back to Baekjong…

Love this place! Had dinner here with another couple and their twin boys. There was only about a 10 min wait when were arrived there at 5pm on a Sunday evening. We were quickly seated in the back once the tables were ready. Since we were sitting at two grills(4 adults, 1 toddler and twin babies), we were not able order a large combo to split for 4 adults and had to order two combos… so we ended up ordering two small beef combos. Each combo came with 3 different types of meat(brisket, boneless short rib and we chose the rib eye), soybean paste stew or kimchi stew(we ordered 1 or each to try) and came with sides of steamed egg, corn cheese, mushroom, onion, sweet potato and kimchi. The quality of the meat were delicious(brisket was my fav), marinated nicely and were flavorful. I loved the corn cheese and everything else. The side salads. cold soup and banchan were all amazing. We asked for sesame oil to use with the salt :) The soybean paste stew was good and the kimchi stew was great! I loved how the egg, corned cheese and veggies are placed in slots around the grill where they were cooked! There is also instructions provided on how to prepare the sauce and eat! Staff was friendly, efficient, fast and very accommodating! Loved how they came around to cook the meat for us(it allowed us to enjoy our dinner and feed our toddler!), brought out and refilled items we requested for timely and efficiently. They also lowered the overhead fan when the meat is cooking. Great design as it sucks up all the smoke so it’s not as smoky :) When we were on our 3rd round of beef(rib eye), one of the server asked if it tasted weird. As if he read our mind! It tasted a bit smoky and he told us he’ll change the grill and(sides around it). Turns out there wasn’t enough water at the bottom, that’s why more smoke was coming up. They replaced the meat and grill(like new!). That was very proactive of them. Awesome. Overall, I had an amazing experience and would love to come back if we are in the area again!

If you’re ballin’ and not on a budget, this is the spot! It is really pricey compared to the AYCE places, and it doesn’t get you as full, but taste wise, it’s pretty good. When you walk in, there’s two life size card board cut outs of a Korean man ready to greet you, LOL. Idk who he is, but he has a huge smile on his face to welcome you. They’re open late night so when I came, there was no wait, and we were seated right away. Their ban chan was pretty good, and the only Kbbq place to give us perilla and veggie pancake that I know of. It also comes with corn cheese, veggies, your choice of either soybean soup or kimchi soup, and other ban chan stuff. I really like their soybean soup. It’s not watery at all, and very flavorful. We got the beef combo and another order of pork belly. All the meats were pretty good, but what stuck out to me was their pork belly. It was thick and flavorful. It was kind of like the most perfect piece of grilled thick pork belly that I’ve ever had. It had a nice charred flavor to it. Service was good too. Fast efficiently, sort of friendly. Oh my god… Authentic KBBQ near me! If you want authentic, high quality meat and service come to Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong KBBQ! Ktown usually has a good rep for their kbbq in LA but this will do just fine because it’s in socal. My Korean friend told me that this is like how it is in Korea with the small seatings, round table, sides(not much of it but pairs nicely with the meat). We got the beef combo and a light korean beer to go with our food. Everything was phenomenal. There’s an instruction paper right in front of you to show you how to eat authentic korean style which I was thought was so cool. All the beef that was offered to us was so good. It just literally melts in your mouth. You can tell by that marbling how great it will be paired with some nice cold beer. I really enjoyed this place. A lot more expensive then other Kbbq because it’s those all you can eat type of place. But you get what you paid for. Quaity, service, authentic kbbq in an area near you!

Arrived on a Saturday night expecting an extremely long wait and was correct– 2 hour wait time for a party of 7. Unfortunately the lot of us arrived hungry and standing outside the restaurant in the cold(thank god for the heating lamp) while smelling the delicious grilled meats really made me relate to how my dog felt while she watched the humans eat everyday. Though, the wait quickly passed as we wandered the aisles of the gigantic Daiso and awesome h mart located in the same plaza.(+ points for h mart in curbing our hunger with their fantastic amount of samples.) Our party of 7 sat with two grills and shared one L + S pork combo. Though cheaper than the beef, I think the pork is way tasty and a better deal. I really dig that the side dishes here include the corn and cheese side dish as well as this egg dish that was slowly cooked on the side of the grill. The side dishes here were also great quality– though I did wish they served japchae as well as larger portions of kimchi. We loved grilling our Kimchi on the grill so much that we actually felt bad having to bother the servers over and over again for a kimchi refill! TLDR; A bit pricey for a KBBQ joint in SoCal that isn’t AYCE, but I’d say it was still worth the $$ and wait. The slow cooked egg, the pork combo, and side dishes were delish(especially the tofu and sweet potato). I left freakishly full and about ~$ 25 short.

Two years ago I went to the branch in koreatown LA and have been dreaming about eating this bbq ever since. This weekend I finally got to go to this place again, albeit in a different location. Pro: the 2 hr wait went by faster than expected because 1) it was only 1.5 hours in the end and 2) there is a lot to browse around the plaza and h mart has some greeaatt free samples. Also, had beer+soju this time which was a fun and potent mix. Con: accidentally got the kimchi stew instead of the soybean one in the combo. Nooooo! Get the soybean one. Also my korean friend(I only mention her nationality cuz it gives her kbbq cred) and I agreed that there was something a bit… less awesome about this location than the one in ktown LA. The pork combo just wasn’t quite as good. Lessons learned: the branch in ktown LA is still the best, always get the soybean stew option in the pork combo, mix soju and beer for fun times, and grill your kimchi – so good.

My first review of 2016 goes to Kang Ho Dong :) It was so good I came here two nights in a row… This is a really good Korean barbecue joint. Note: This is not an AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant, so you pay for what you eat. This particular location is in the Daiso/85 Degrees Bakery plaza. You’ll probably spot it by the long clear windows and long lines of people standing outside. There is no waiting area inside. I have passed by the restaurant so many times, and I always see people waiting for it. The parking lot is always crowded, so it’s tough to find parking spots. If you have a large party, they do not take reservations and at least half of the party needs to be present in order to be seated. Of my two visits, I only got the beef combo both times.haha. I tried both the short rib and prime rib; short rib is better. I am not a fan of kimchi soup, so I only tried the soybean paste soup. The small beef combo($ 60) can feed 2 – 3 people. I say three because I had leftovers from sharing the combo with my boyfriend. The large beef combo($ 99) can feed 5 – 6 people. Both combos come with the steamed egg, cheese corn, and random vegetables. The meats are good; there was nothing I did not like about it. Side dishes include tofu, kimchi, sweet potato, and fish cake. They have two salads: lettuce(in a garlic sauce) and bean sprouts(spicy chili paste). They provide a special sauce that you can dip the meat in; I prefer the salt in sesame oil with my meat though. The sauce, even when you add wasabi, is too sweet. Service is amazing here! The table is all set up for you already when you are seated — including utensils, side dishes, sauces, and salads. The only thing is that the napkins are placed separately in a napkin holder. They cook the meat for you. They are really on top of making sure it doesn’t get burnt or too chewy. Ask for more salad or rice, and they will bring it for you quickly. At my first visit, the server flipped our egg for us. The second time the server did not, and I didn’t get to eat the egg until after the meat was cooked because I forgot about it. I almost never get Korean BBQ unless it’s at an AYCE joint, like Cham Sut Gol or Gen. But the quality of the meat here is incomparable and way better than those other restaurants. Also, it is not as expensive as Japanese BBQ places, like Tsuruhashi or Anjin. I’ll be back!

My friends were dying to take me to this KBBQ place because of well… CORNANDCHEESE. Say what? Yes, that was why they wanted me to try. But you know me, I’m a major carnivore and will definitely judge this place by the meat on the grill. First off, I came on a Wednesday evening and only waited about 20 minutes to get seated. They have a texting system so you just check in, give them your number, and they’ll text you when your table is almost ready. Very convenient if you want to walk around the plaza. Once we were seated, my friend ordered the large beef combo and a lunch box. Here’s the low down on food: Brisket — thinly sliced and delicious. Especially good with the pickled radish, sesame oil, salt and lettuce. I make mini tacos with each piece! Prime short rib — omg these pieces of steak were sooo tender. The marbling on the short rib was incredible. Each bite was tender and juicy. Bland, but you can dress it up with all the stuff on the table. Marinated short rib — also very tender and delicious. The marinated was a little sweeter than I like, but still good. Dipped it in more salt/oil and it was perfect. Lunch Box — the server comes out with a mysterious box of rice and goodies, shows us the goods, and continues to close the box and vigorously shake it in front of us. As a result, we had a mixed rice concoction that was interesting and tasty. Salty bits with rice. Pancake — delicious dipped in their delicious sauce Corn and cheese — well. nothing can go wrong with corn and mozzarella cheese. NOTHING! Steamed Egg — fluffy and a great addition to the meal. I do prefer the traditional egg soufflé that is often served at KBBQ restaurants. Overall, I left feeling very full and content. Service was excellent. They cook for you and make sure nothing is empty. They’re very on top of things here. I would recommend this place if you’re not looking for AYCE, but looking for high quality meats and impeccable service. Check it out!

Best quality service for best quality heart. These guys are attentive, fast and efficient. No slow kpop drama here. The unmarinated and marinated beef short ribs are tender, and well marbled without being fatty. The dipping sauce with wasabi adds good flavor to the meat. Only minuses are that they should have rice paper wraps and the ban chan here kinda blows. It’s pretty limited. Also you need to ask for rice if you want it. I can’t just eat meat and lettuce. I love rice long time.

I can’t remember the last time I had so much meat in my mouth, I was almost ashamed. That’s what she said.

This place is an awesome spot for Korean barbecue! I love the different options that they have with the beef and pork and this is probably the only place that I will actually go to for Korean BBQ. I’m not the biggest meat lover, so the fact that I like Kanghodong baekjong definitely says something. This location is ideal because I save the drive to Ktown and its the only one in the oc! My go-to menu item is the beef combo because really it has the most value. You get three kinds of beef and I love that each one is very different. It’s also great that they cook the meats for you so you can sit back and enjoy the food. The service is fantastic and the servers are always so friendly! My most recent visit to the restaurant was especially wonderful because our server(Justin) took the time to talk to us and ask us about our experience. He really made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. All in all, awesome place to grab kbbq.

Easily one of my top 5 restaurants I visited in 2015. My Unilocal OC buddy introduced me to this place. It definitely hit the spot. The other reviews will attest to the legitimacy of this place. If that’s not enough, check out my photos. Food tastes as good as it looks. Service was by far one of the best I’ve had at any Korean establishment. Servers worked together to get food out and to refill and remove our plates in a timely manner. One particular guy named David was extra nice and accommodating to our table. The meats are prob the best I’ve had at any Korean place. The ribeye was my favorite! My friend ordered the small for two and we were beyond full. Sides were great and I think my favorite was the slow cooked egg custard. Sea salt for side dipping was a nice touch as a prefer my food a bit saltier than most. Unlike most other Korean BBQ establishments this place was clean and best of all we didn’t come out smelling of smoke odors. Would highly recommend this shop! And I hear that they are open late. Nearby a Daiso and H Mart. Already planning my next visit. Good stuff, ya’ll.
