Great food and the table top grill is nice. Price is excellent. They hustle you through if you show up late. Don’t show up late. :)

Not your typical Asian bbq, Juban is a really open environment but you get your own space. The ambiance is a bit hard to describe but unassuming and comfortable. The meat quality here is impeccable. Short ribs are marbled perfectly. Cooks really quickly so be sure not to overcook it. When cooked right, you can truly appreciate the quality of the meat. So tender and juicy that doesn’t need a huge marinade to make it taste good. It’s the meat the brings the flavor, though the marinade does add a valuable flavor. The beef tongue is also very very good. Simple marinade to let the meat quality shine again. It’s chewy and tender with a nice bit of fat infused in. Sauces are there if you want it, but I think you could only really use their standard sauce and lemon to dip. Remember that these pieces cook very quickly, don’t ruin the meat by over-cooking it! It’s so amazing when cooked right. Service is decent, nothing incredible, nothing bad. This place is a pricey meal for the amount of food you get, but when you’re looking to splurge for high quality meat, I’d highly recommend this place.

Pricy!!! $ 2.99 for a bowl of steam rice?! Small portion dishes, almost 25% expensive compare with others, I will not go back for second time! By the way, this restaurant is serving Korean food too, so I guess the Unilocal description is not 100% accurate.

Surprise to find to such a good restaurant close to home. Food is great, especially white shrimp(garlic sauce). Price is very reasonable for Japanese bbq. Order a la carte so you can get a good balance between rich meat and tangy/spicy flavor.

Absolutely wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. A most is the Rib Eye and Kalbi. The potatoes with butter are little soft bits of heaven. One of the best dessert’s I’ve ever had Juban’s Honey Toast Mountain. This delightful treat is thick sliced toast topped with vanilla ice cream, drizzle led with honey which will melt in your mouth. Great service and great prices. Perfect for a date or a family night out.

I came here with family for a birthday event and though the space isn’t all that large. It is quaint and just enough for what we were looking for. The staff were very attentive and answered all our questions patiently and didn’t try to oversell things, which in my experiences at places like these have been the norm. The food is good and the service was on point. Need I say more. Thank you!

Very disappointed. I gave it a 2 stars just because he food wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t good either. We had this in San Francisco Japan town outlet and loved it there. Too bad they closed down so we decided to try this outlet instead. Buy the quality of the meat and the marinades on the meat were short of our expectations. The sauces for dipping was lacking in variety too.

Terrible, I don’t think the owner of this place has ever checked the reviews on Unilocal! They don’t care the customers. To be fair, the meat quality is ok, but the price is way beyond it. Less choice now, all items price go up! Good luck, Juban. I’m thinking the owner may use the restaurants to have loss deductions for tax purpose, otherwise I can’t come up with any idea why a business will become so terrible:(

Juban is a pick what you want and cook it yourself place at dinner. So we ordered some of everything that looked good. Some rib eye, some kal-bi. Grilled garlic, and spiced bean sprouts, pickles and spinach with peanuts. Also also had to have rice. Food came out an they lit the fire on the grill. This is the first grill place that had great ventilation. I don’t even smell like bbq. Food was presented on nice plates and questions asked by staff if we where alright, water glasses where filled. Food was fine, nothing to write home about, the green sea salt and the house dipping sauce was nice and went well with the dishes. I feel like I didn’t get good value for the money spent. I would consider a Korean BBq or another shabu house for the money.

Number 10! That’s what that«Juban» means. This is an another Rip-off Japo thing like the Wako on Clement Street, SF, that I do not proud of. Way too EXPENSIVE for the amount you get. That’s why this place is practically empty all the time. Overall it was big disappointed and I really don’t like to come back here again. Number 10, That’s what this place is, period.

The staff is very friendly and nice. Service overall was very good. Food, on the other hand, was just ok. If you love good meat and flavors, this won’t be a good place. I felt as though the meat was rather poor quality — I did like their beef tongue. But the pork loin was so-so.

Love their Yakiniku, quality is excellent… I think their price change, last time we went to this branch we spent $ 200.00 + for just 2 people but this last visit we spent less than that with the same amount of food but cost us cheaper. I highly recommend Beef ribs, garlic, shishito pepper, assorted mushrooms, yummmm… This location is way better than the one in Japan Town, I think bec. it’s a smaller place it seems to be cleaner and servers are more attentive.

I’ve had 2 very different experiences here. Once was for Saturday lunch. I ordered just a single meat(kalbi) with rice and the tomago soup and it was awesome. The serving amount was fine for lunch although I probably could’ve eaten more but I wasn’t disappointed. Then came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was 7pm and empty. No one else came to the restaurant at all the whole time we were in there. It was really weird. Me and my parents each ordered the dinner combo meal. Really pricey but overall good. They’re tricky with the different meat combinations and pricing though. They really know how to make the most money because obviously the better meat is in the tier above so even though you want just one kalbi and maybe something else from the other menu, they won’t do it for you. And honestly, I don’t want 3 different pieces of meat, I want just 2 so I can’t even get 2 orders of 1 kind of meat? And they wouldn’t let me upgrade my miso soup to the tomago soup even after I said I’ll pay the difference. Not very accommodating, which was weird because again WEWERETHEONLYONESINTHERE. Like, what else are you guys going to do back there? I will say that I’m always a big fan of kalbi, no matter where I go but we also tried the skirt steak and DAMN that was juicy goodness. I’m not even gonna fault our waiter for the fact that they weren’t accommodating because he did try. But he kept saying«management» wouldn’t let them make those kind of substitutions It wasn’t like I was trying to ask for a different kind of seasoning or something! Interestingly, he kept blaming all the issues on «management». Which tells you something. Anyways, I’ll probably still come back. Overall the food IS good. But I’ll just come for lunch where I’m not super hungry. The vibe was just really weird here, at least for dinner.

I was happy except the pot of my Ishiyaki Bibimba wasn’t hot enough — twice in a row in this branch. It’s suppose to be very hot so the rice gets toasty underneath. It was like ordering the plain Bibimba. The Juban on Santa Cruz Ave. always gets it right. another thing I didn’t like was the sticky feeling of the table. Other than that, the food was delicious as always.

Excellent service! My 4 friends and I ordered 2 orders of the kalbi short ribs(EXCELLENTEXCELLENTEXCELLENT), chicken breast, thinly sliced beef, assorted veggies, assorted mushrooms, edamame, and rice. It was really fun being able to grill our own meat and to top it all off, the sauces were delicious! I asked our server for aluminum foil so that we could grill our kimchi too which was an excellent idea. Our server even put sesame oil on the aluminum foil to make the grilled kimchi even better! For 5 people(plus two drinks), we spent $ 18 each including tax and tip. I was very full and we would have been okay with ordering a few dishes less. I recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for good barbecue in the Burlingame area!

This was probably my proudest discovery when I used to live in the area. I come here for one thing and one thing only, their boneless kalbi short ribs! Mmm… The tasty meat melts in your mouth when you grill it to perfection. It is truly an art of grilling. I am not a big fan of meat but Japanese yakiniku is definitely one of my weak spot. I personally prefer Japanese BBQ over Korean BBQ because of quality over quantity. And, you don’t smell as bad when you leave the place. For some reason, I feel the meat at this location is better than the one in Japantown. Mr. J agrees with me as well. This is one of our favorite stop whenever we are in the area!

Loved the short ribs, raddish namuru, grilled onions and grilled buttered garlic in the lettuce cups — the sauce just made it over the top! Excellent service! Kids loved the cooking bit :-)
