I agree with a few of the reviewers. Food is decent here, but for the price, the portions are really small. I LOVE vermicelli, and crave it often. I haven’t had time to find my own noodles, but noodles are not very expensive, so I’m not sure why they would give so little. Other than that the quality has been good, and the workers are pleasant.

We recently moved to Norwood and wanted some Vietnamese food after work on a week night so we decided to try a Vietnamese restaurant nearby. It was a cold night and the heat was not on inside the restaurant, so we didn’t warm up until 15 minutes later when we got served and asked for tea. I was very disappointed when the owner delivered a hot bowl of Phở to the table and saw that not only the bowl was small, but the meatballs were slice into 4 – 5 pieces to look like they used a lot of meatballs when in reality it was only 3 meatballs. I should have gone to Dorchester to get Vietnamese food and get better tasting and more food in my bowl for less money. That was the first and also last time that we would be seen at Phở 29.

I am no phở-connoisseur, so I cannot attest to if the food is Americanized Vietnamese or not. I will agree that for the price, the portions are small and they skimp on the meats and greens. They gave me heap tons of bean sprouts, but I had maybe two wontons in my soup. The spring rolls were blah… crispy but plain. It did not really taste like the food was entirely fresh? But, because of other rave reviews I am willing to go back and give it another go. Maybe.

Delicious, just moved to the area and I’m glad I found a phở place that I will be coming to more often. Had the beef ramen phở and liked it quite a bit. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

Delicious Vietnamese food, have to disagree with the reviews that call them«Americanized». Phở is fantastic but they also have a lot of chicken options and vegetarian. My favorite place to get lunch on a rainy gloomy day, always comforting, cozy and delicious!(:

We love this place! The food is Just as good as you get in Vietnam. Ask for Ha and ask for the special hot pepper, but only use a small amount!

We love this place for a weekly phở. Clean and very reasonably priced; the staff are very friendly and helpful. Mind which days they are open! Try the Vietnamese coffee if you like sweet coffee concoctions.

The com chien dat biet(combination fried rice) is very good. The bun bo hue and phở are ok. The café sua da isn’t traditional drip Café du Monde, but tastes like Vietnamese coffee bubble tea mix.

It was just average for the food. The staff is very nice and the place is small but clean. Went here for lunch and had their summer rolls with peanut sauce. Even though it was made to order, the pork was too dry and tough and there weren’t any mint or bean sprouts in the summer rolls. The sauce was just ok. I also had the Phở Ga where broth was too clear and lacks seasoning to give it the flavor I am used to enjoying. And it’s never a good sign to hear some microwave action going on! Come on! I love phở and would give any place a try. This one does not live up to places like Phở So 1 in Randolph. You will be full but not satisfied.

This place is just so Americanized but considering its location, I’m not surprised. I’m not picky with Vietnamese food but they gave me spring roll dipping sauce with my rice plate instead of nuoc mam(fish sauce), very strange. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that. Their portions are also super small compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. They also don’t have a lot of basic things like rice plate with beef. They only have rice plate with pork. They are accommodating though, if you want rice with beef then they will make it for you.

Best broth EVER! The beef balls are great too, highly recommend getting the phở dac biet with Bo vien and start off the the crispy wontons. The café sua da(iced coffee) will wake you right up. PS this is the ONLY place I’ll go if I need a quick hangover cure

First-time phở-eater here. I’ve been waiting for a cold day when I felt like crap to try phở, when I could experience its full healing powers. That day finally came on Saturday, and I eagerly called to order take out. 15 minutes later, I had my wintertime cold elixir. I love the way they pack it up to go: soup in the container, and all the phở accessories in bags/boxes. Perfect for a first timer like me, who isn’t sure exactly what she wants. Very happy with my chicken phở — lots of noodles and chicken goodness. And it did make me feel better!

I really don’t like to give poor ratings to any restaurant, but I have no idea how this place can warrant the near 5 star rating that is has. The food there was really mediocre. It seems like everything was microwaved. The flavors were bland, the phở was really pretty disappointing and the fried rice was mealy. There are better places in Randolph and Quincy. Hopefully this place will get the message do something to improve their food.

The food is delicious and the customer service is spot on. I recommend the Yellow Noodle Wonton Soup(number 7). Don’t forget to ask for the extra spicy chili paste.

I’m a Phở person. When I go to a Phở place I Phở. Phở So 1 in randolph still produces a better more consistent Phở than this place. Even though the recipe is sopposed to be the same. I’m told the Phở master at Phở So 1 is the Phở master at Phở 29 now, dont know if that is true. I had both in the same week and Phở So 1 definitely has more Phở flavor. Phở 29 also didn’t include any culantro with the fresh herb plate for the Phở… Phở 29 produces a solid Phở, it’s just not as good as the one a few minutes down the street.

Went to Phở 29 for the first time and it was really good. I have lived next to this place for over a month now and just got around to getting here. It is a friendly atmosphere and the staff is very helpful. It is B.Y.O.B. so that is a plus. And the portions were decent size. I would go back.

Unilocal reviews are pretty accurate, but not this time! This is an Americanized Vietnamese restaurant. Also, the portions are tiny, they skimp on the meats, and it’s a little pricey. We ordered spring rolls, phở and bun bo hue. Spring rolls: no herbs, no cucumber or bean sprouts. Very plain and not worth the money. Phở: not a lot of noodles or meats. Also, they just gave us shaved beef. Bun Bo Hue: this is not bun bo hue. It’s phở with a little twist. Again, not a lot of noodles or meats. Phở does not cost much to make. The majority of the dish is noodles and broth so I was very disappointed when they decided to skimp on the noodles. A bowl of ramen noodles is more filling! They also gave us 5 – 6 pieces of shave beef(again skimping). The only good part of their phở is the broth. If you want to know what a real bowl of phở look and taste like, then I suggest you go anywhere but here.

Small no frills place with nice service. But the absolute best part was«The Soup!!!» We ordered the fried wontons & chicken wings as apps both were hot and crispy & not greasy at all. I loved that every table had a side dish with everything you could need to make the soy dipping sauce & your soup spicier including Sriracha & chili sauce. Then we had the main course The Soup! My husband & I both had the wonton soup w noodles & my daughters shared the phở chicken noodle. You can almost swim in the size of the soup bowls more than enough for 2 meals but hard to stop eating! The broth was delicious as well as the noodles & wontons. I added Sriracha which is my favorite condiment. Needless to say, I died & went to soup heaven. I will be talking about this for days & can’t wait to return. It was the best soup ever!!!
