Friendly & helpful staff. Food was great and best value around. I had the local red snapper and my boyfriend had the pastrami dip sandwich with fantastic wedge cut french fries.

They make a good grilled cheese! Very fast and simple. However, not very clean… Actually not clean at all :)

Super nice staff, friendly vibe. We had dinner elsewhere and came here to enjoy dessert. Wide array of luxurious choices!!! We had the Shanty Pie – very delicious! – and the Cayucos Crunch. The kids loved the Cayucos Crunch. The Shanty Pie was more standard like a mint ice cream pie, but very very good. Great treat.

Excellent food(fish and chips) and dessert(apple dumpling with ice cream, using a whole apple). Wait time was nil as well as the wait time for food(max 5 – 7 minutes). Prices reasonable and in accordance to local venue. Would come here again!

Went here for dessert and split among the 4 of us the Cayucos Crunch, a blending of vanilla ice cream with peanut butter and chocolate, and the Shanty Pie, a mint ice cream with hot fudge and whipped cream concoction, Both were very good and plenty for 4 to share. Service was good, friendly, and efficient. The place is pretty small, but they do have outdoor seating with heat lamps. It’s definitely an indulgence. No prices on the dessert menu(?), but the two desserts came out to about $ 16. Fun treat.

Okay, food was okay and we didn’t even get to dessert thanks to poorly trained staff. Okay-friendly service, but making the customer wait for over 20 minutes to get a dessert order is a no no! This will most likely be the last time here. There are many good places to eat in Cayucos and surrounding, no need to waste time and patience with poor staff time management. Keep searching.

Awesome locals place in Cayucos. My wife loves the fish & chips and I always get the patty melt. Doesn’t disappoint. Desserts are off the chart. Cayucos crunch is the current favorite. Also has an outside patio for those nice central coast days.

Great food! Great service! The shrimp is deep fried in a tempura batter and is the best I have ever eaten.

Ducked in here because we had to use the restroom but stayed for lunch. Nice patio to hang out on and the food was really good! Had some fish tacos and a few beers. Very nice vibe & great service too.

Ate here the other day for dinner. Service was good. I ordered the pastrami sandwich which I didn’t care for to much because it seemed to plain. The au ju sauce was cold and flavorless also. But my boyfriend ordered the chili size and seemed to love it. We shared dessert and that was sooooo good! So I definitely recommend dessert here. I’d come back

What a treat. This place has it going on. Service was spot on right from the get go. We sat on the porch so that we could sit with our pooch(place is extremely pet friendly with bowl of water and a treat). Had fish and chips, salad, and clam chowder. The chowder was creamy and full of tender clams, and the fish was golden and crispy. Don’t leave without grabbing a tempting dessert. We took a peach cobbler to go and glad we did! Reasonable prices. Only beer and wine available.

Table for 6 on a Wednesday seated quickly. Every entrée was done perfect the snapper pescado is a favorite of both my in laws. My mother in law stated it would be on her list for her last supper, coupled with the decadent caycous crunch. My wife and son had the shrimp tacos. They were inhaled and also very well prepared. I had the petite grilled snapper, it was also cooked to perfection. My daughter had no problem handling the golden fish and chips. Then we devoured the desserts. Caycous Crunch, mud pie, and strawberry shortcake. Absolutely unequivocally save room for dessert. Share a meal pre-workout do what you have to do to eat your dessert. This place does it right!

My wife’s family frequented Cayucos when she was a kid for summer vacations, and she always raved about how good the desserts were at the Sea Shanty. Well, let me tell you they are every bit as fantastic as she claimed! Our favorite is the peanut butter ice cream pie(I believe this is the turtle one) so delicious and satisfying. Another great thing about this place is that they are extremely dog friendly… offered our small dogs a treat right away and said how cute they were. Most places tolerate dogs, but the Sea Shanty seems more accommodating by comparison. We have been there several times over the last five years for breakfast and dinner, and the food is acceptable, but nothing fancy… pretty standard fare. Get the desert, life is short!

I gave them 4 stars because they are pet friendly with a water bowl out and milk bone treats ready for dogs. The desserts are fantastic, the clam chowder is OK, the burgers are tasty, the fish and chips are good, but pass on the crab melts. They are horrible. Again, I must say that the pet friendly attitude and ‘sea going’ décor are winners, just steer clear of the ‘crabby cakes ‘.

When we pulled up, I thought«what the heck», continued in and was pleasantly surprised. The breakfast was excellent, server was excellent, and décor was fun. We were just passing through and was referred here by that overly expensive cookie store down the street. If ever in town again, we’ll be back.

We kinda adore this place. We keep coming back. Typically it’s dinner for us, and we sit out on the balcony in the open air, which is fine when the weather’s good. They have a genuine rocking horse, a mechanical horse that goes up and down when you put a quarter in it, and kids love to come play on it. There’s plenty of seating here, and I guess if they overflowed, they have a yard nearby too. We live in Southern California and make the trek pretty frequently to Northern California, so Cayucos is along the way. At this point we’re going out of our way a little bit to make a point of swinging through here. It’s a comfortable town. Everyone seems to know each other. Also very dog friendly. The waitstaff here is happy and friendly; I wouldn’t say they’re in your face about making sure every 10 seconds that your water is full, but they’re never far from sight if you need anything. Food is fine; it’s not pretending to be anything other than fresh, fun fare. For breakfast I was overstuffed, and I just had an omelet. They brought two big biscuits with each meal, and one alone would probably have been enough to get my day started. Coffee was good too. Honestly I enjoy the food and the experience enough – sitting there looking around at all the odd signs and bric-à-brac in the place – that I don’t even remember the desserts someone else said were off the hook. They probably were. But I do remember this: When we wanted to find some after-dinner espresso, the lady waiting on us was extremely helpful in recommending what she said was the best espresso spot in town(there are several), and making sure we knew to tell them she had sent us, so they should treat us right. She didn’t try to talk us into coffee or some other dessert instead; she knew that if she helped us get what we wanted, we’d be back. And we have come back, again and again. Great place! Fun and relaxed and friendly. Come here also for a slice of the local community; it’s a wonderful coastal town.

They do not serve breakfast one minute past 1130 on a Sunday. The me I have eaten here a few times and the food is good, the service is friendly but not overly fast. Desserts are off the hook.
