My absolute favorite seafood spot on the Central Coast. Whether you order the chowder, fish and chips, burgers, or clams; everything is fabulous! I purposely visit Cayucos Beach just so I can eat at Ducky’s! They are very fast, always have great customer service, and the perfect location to dine in or take-out to the beach! I have never been less than satisfied!

Duckies seems to be one of the more popular choices in Cayucos. I’ve had good from there several times and I must say it’s not great but it’s good food. This past weekend I had the clam chowder bowl which was really good. The fish n chips was just OK… I picked up my order and went to the beach house to eat. In that 5 to 10 minutes the fish and fries was really soggy… It would be better to eat in the restaurant. I give it 4 stars because I haven’t had a meal that reply separated itself from any other seafood place in town although the food is good.

Good chowder(maybe not New England good), but good for the West Coast. It is a bit over-priced though. $ 46 for lunch for two is a bit steep even if you are on vacation. A good variety of food is offered(beers too) and the location can’t be beat — right at the base of the newly renovated Cayucos pier. I suppose that’s what you’re paying for…

Such a wonderful place. Fish tacos were fresh and chowder was hot. Right off a pier. Prices and service were exellent.

Great place, reasonably priced, solid beachfront menu and cozy setup. Delicious, light, crispy fish and chips with the necessary malt vinegar in the table. House wine for 4 bucks and nice Cabernet for 6. Quick service in a nice atmosphere only a few feet from the Pacific Ocean.

Ordered the shrimp tacos and a cup of white chowder. The shrimp tacos were very nice, very spicy. The chowder was very nice as well plenty of claims but felt the chowder was under seasoned and was a bit ‘gritty’. We also ordered the fish of the day, snapper, grilled on a sandwich. Nice but the bun was served ‘soggy’. Excellent location next to the pier.

The clam chowder was good. I ordered a small burger, the meat Patty tasted burned. My husband got the fish and chips, he said it had no flavor. Located off the pier. We walked here. The service could improve. The girl at the registered seemed more concerned with what was happening outside, she kept staring outside while we ordered. Didn’t ask if we wanted drinks or anything else. The lady who brought our food did ask if we needed anything else. While we were eating, people left the table beside us, one female employee cleared off the table, the same girl who took our order wiped the table and chairs but she was still distracted with the outside and left crumbs. When another family sat at the table the mother wiped off crumbs from the table and chairs and said the workers must not have cleaned it yet.

Clam chowder, fish and chips sitting outside the restaurant and watching the Sea Glass Festival spectators stroll by. Fun festival in Cayucos next to the beach and the pier. We definitely shall return.

This place may have a great clam chowder but it’s pretty clear they give little attention to any of their turf options. Duckies burger was the worst burger I’ve had. I know this because I make some pretty crappy burgers and this tasted just like it. Flavorless meat, soaked sourdough buns, thick wedges of tomatoes, and a giant leaf of lettuce you need to tear apart yourself to fit it on your burger. Did I mention it was a «build it yourself» burger kit? Had to put it together myself. Honestly I don’t care about that but when you provide ingredients for the darn thing, don’t make it so that I have to still cut it up to fit on the burger. To their credit at least it wasn’t iceberg. In summary, this burger would barely be passing if it was smothered in ketchup or some other kind of condiment.

Stopped in on our way south to L.A. Our last meal at the tail end of a long weekend in central coast. Probably could have done better. Liked the clam chowder(the cup size is generous and filled to the brim) and my wife liked the shrimp cocktail. I also had the fried calamari. I didn’t like it. I was envisioning small crispy segments with a tasty seasoned breaded coating. What I got was large, thick, compressed(?), calamari«fingers» that were chewy and utterly tasteless. Including the seemingly unseasoned coating. Ugh. Fries were good. I’ve read quite a few reviews that complained about the service. Did not experience this. We were greeted with smiles by staff all around. I would come back and try Duckie’s again-but I’m staying away from the calamari…

Enjoyed a Turkey, Bacon and Avocado. It was really good but nothing amazing. My friend had a blackened shrimp salad and she said she loved it. Would eat here again.

Delicious! Three of us had the fish and chips while I opted for the fried oysters. I am SO glad I did. The fish and chips were wonderful but the oysters were on a whole other level! They were so fresh, plump and flavorful, I have had fried oysters before but I’ve never been seen any like these. I can’t wait to return. The service was average at best buy I’ll ignore it to have the delicious food.

Nah! Being from New England I know a thing or two about about chowder — or CHOWDAH as we call it, and this one is not it. You’d think they get it right for their signature dish. But I found this version to be a very commercial and starchy recipe. In fact, there were huge chunks of starch/dough in my bowl. Couldn’t really taste the clams. But the few ones in there were tender. Take a trip up the Maine coast in September and then you’ll know the true meaning of New England clam CHOWDAAH. It’s nothing like Duckies. Fish and chips — fish was good but needs to be waaay crispier. Calamari and chips. Nice and tender, but also could use a crispiness. Garlic fries were the best part of the meal. Cool décor though. And my kids thought it was fun sitting on barstools hanging out over the sidewalk.
