Great food options, great service, great staff. Unique for the area. Love the quality and craftsmanship of the sandwiches.

I traveled all the way from Los Angeles for a sandwich known as «The Joey». It has prosciutto, speck, coppa, salami, provolone, and olive oil. The staff was very friendly, explained the menu to me, and answered all my questions. These guys really know their shit! The sandwich was delicious and fresh and the meat was outstanding. They don’t skimp! I also had some of the vegan tofu salad. Exquisite and worth every penny! The soups of the day were broccoli parsnip & cheese and beef & daikon stew. The texture and tastes in the broccoli parsnip & cheese soup was incredible, but the beef & daikon stew was my favorite! This place is definitely a must for travelers and food enthusiasts. I wish I was in town longer so I could experience more of Greyhound’s sandwiches, but for now I’ll just say«The Joey«is totally worth coming here for.

Greyhound Deli is really the gem of Newbo Market. The standard sandwiches are fantastic – I recommend the Wire. The specials are out of this world – try the BBQ chicken if you get the chance. There’s a really great variety among the sandwiches, and they’ve also got excellent salads, soups, and quiches. I almost forgot, the bread. The bread is one of the best things I have ever tasted. One of their Newbo neighbors makes the bread fresh every day, and it’s unbelievable. Oh yeah! The folks behind the counter are super awesome – they’re really friendly, and clearly very passionate about making great food.

Excellent food and service. Appreciate them always having vegetarian options. Soups are some of the best I’ve had. Highly recommend.

I use Unilocal to look at reviews, not write them. But for this biz, I will break that rule. I have lived all over and taken part in many divine dining experiences. Cedar Rapids is not(in general) a great place to satiate your culinary curiosities. However, Greyhound Deli reminds of Austin: quizzical quirk, artisan staff, and galactic food. I challenge you to find a better lunch: The ‘Perfecta’ sandwich and a blood orange soda. The Shaolin Potato Salad with kimchi… So Great. In a town choked with chain restaurants and few creative dinning options, Greyhound is an oasis. If you don’t love it, we can’t be friends. (I believe they source(all?) their meats from local Big Boy Meats, which makes Big Boy awesome, by default.)

Update: In the last few months before returning to California Greyhound became a regular weekend stop. Their artisan meats are a true oasis in the typical CR offering locally. And their soups were excellent as well, This is a not to be missed stop in CR. My Original Revieww I stumbled upon this delightful spot in the NewBo Market. On my first visit I tried their local cured Speck sandwich. I was hooked. When in town I regularly stop by to get shaved Speck and occasionally some of their other delights. A visit to their spot is definitely would it.
