Check out the newest taco truck in town. It’s located in the parking lot next to Wings Over Chapel Hill and that dog kennel place that has mutts barking and howling 24/7, right where East Main St. bifurcates into E. Main and Rosemary(you know, across from Jessee’s Coffee Shop(and also Hampton Inn and Woman’s Craft now that I think of it)). It’s a smaller truck, not as big as City Bus, which is 50 yards down the street. Came here last night for some eats. Ordered the veggie burrito(my standby at taco trucks in Cboro) and to my surprise, the gentleman in the truck asked me what I wanted in the burrito. Made to order burritos! Nice. I wanted everything plus the kitchen sink except meat and squash. Since the place was new, and I couldn’t find any signage that proclaimed the name of the food truck, I asked the dude what the name of the establishment was. Taqueria Tejano, he answered. I saw that you could order a bunch of stuff here, not just Mexican food, like hot dogs and burgers and stuff. Things got a little dicey when the guy from City Bus rolled up on a bike and asked how things were going. I wasn’t sure if they are competing for business, or if there is one family who runs the taco truck racket in town. My burrito was okay. It wasn’t great, and it wasn’t the best taco truck veggie burrito in town(everything beats Carrburritos, which is a bit overrated, more expensive, and not open late.) There wasn’t enough cheese in my burrito, and it contained some squash, which I didn’t order. There was also a ton of rice in it. The strengths of this burrito included the peppers! And they make a mean green chile sauce as well. The food also comes in a little tray, which makes eating and walking easier. I will have to try other items on the menu, but right now, I was slightly disappointed in my veggie burrito, thus 3 stars.
