This place is as Charleston as it gets. Located down a little cobblestone street in the historic district near the horse stables, it’s the ultimate romantic date night spot. Took my hubby here as a surprise for his bday and he loved it. I don’t know what it looked like«before the fire» but they did a great job of maintaining the historic feel with some beautiful modern touches. The service was great, we told them we were in no rush and our server spread out our apps and entrees so that we could really enjoy and take our time. We were probably there for 2 hours, it was an experience! For starters, we had the fried calamari and a caesar salad, both excellent. I wanted to try the fried flounder, which they are well known for, but they were sold out due to the popularity :(I went with the scallops(minus the pork belly) and my husband had the duck confit pasta. My scallops were excellent. And although I don’t eat meat, I had to try a little taste of the duck pasta as my husband’s expression of ecstasy after the first bite had me curious! It was to die for. Highly recommend this place for visitors and locals. It’s a bit of a splurge but an experience.

There were some good things about this restaurant, some not so good. The she-crab soup and salad were amazing!!! AHHH-mazing. Best she-crab soup ever. The swordfish was not so great. When we were asked by the waiter if we liked the dish, we were honest and said we probably wouldn’t order it again. After that, the waiter, who had started off friendly, was very standoffish and acted personally offended by this. Not sure what that was about? Anyway the steak was just ok and there are many other places in Charleston to get a good steak that’s not so pricey. Probably wouldn’t go back.

Anson was the perfect spot for a nice dinner for wife and I on our weekend getaway to Charleston. Atmosphere was elegant and lively. Food and service were outstanding. Our server Scott was very helpful with the menu and gave great service. Highly recommend you give it a try.

Over priced, food just so so. A disappointment after the reopening from the fire. Service was great but food was below average. Had the ribeye steak and it was chewy. There are so many great restaurants in Charleston even within walking distance of this restaurant, seems they are riding on their old reputation!

Our waiter was very good explains the menu. Found either bread or butter was salty. Pasta dish was cool and rather skimpy. Most of the food was good not great. Scallops were three on the plate. Rather small portion for the price.

We had a fabulous meal at Anson Dec 25! John was our waiter and did a great job reviewing the menu! Our food was delicious! Everything was perfect. Mike the manager came by and just added to our evening. Drinks, Food, Service was excellent! You need to make plans to dine at Anson!

I left Charleston before Anson opened again. Today, it is the first restaurant I visited on my trip back to the city. Anson has made a REALLYGOOD comeback. Maybe it is even better than before.

What a wonderful place. We had a party of 8 and every one gave it 5 stars. The crispy flounder was fantastic. My grouper was the best fish dish I have had in a long time. Their collards are unbelievable. We eat all over Charleston and this is the best.

The wait is over and Anson is open again! The crispy flounder is as wonderful as ever and the beautiful setting is elegant, yet welcoming. The service is fantastic as well. Thank you, Mike, Sam, and Ricki for a lovely evening. We will return soon!

En mi roadtrip desde Greensboro a Miami, nos toco pasar el día de acción de gracias en Charlestone… nos recomendaron este lugar y la verdad es que el menú estuvo espléndido… hay que reservar.

This place is burnt down and is not open. Do not walk here and expect to eat any kind of food because it is closed and Unilocal somehow doesn’t reflect this fact.

It has been a while since our visit, but I can honestly say we had a pretty average dining experience. The atmosphere was nice, but we remember having to whisper to each other because we felt like we could hear every conversation around us. For the price, the food was unspectacular. The service was very good. Overall, while nothing was bad, we find it hard to recommend this place when there are so many amazing restaurants in Charleston.

Last night my boyfriend and I went to the anson restaurant for our anniversary. Great service, very friendly! We ordered shrimp and grits and the Shea soup to start, they were both delicious. I got the grilled mahi mahi it was cooked perfectly, and not fishy tasting at all. The sauce and rice it came with was so good with the fish. I would definitely get it again. My boyfriend ordered the fliet mignon, it was cooked perfectly and the potato purée was to die for! He also got a side of Mac and cheese which was also delicious. The only reason I give this restaurant four stars is because it was a little bit dark, and couldn’t find parking for the restaurant we Parked in the street and had to pay!

This is the second restaurant week in a row I went to Anson, and I was super impressed both times. This year I got the lamb ravioli, which was awesome. I also loved the fried pork cutlet. This is southern food done right. The chocolate oblivion torte was a little intense, but still good.

In town for a wedding and was happy to find out we would be here for restaurant week. After looking at the menus we decided to give Anson a try and it was delicious! I started out with the lamb ravioli, braised chuck roast and chocolate torte for dessert. My husband had the ham, fried pork cutlet and banana cream pie. A friend came along and she also had the ham, shrimp and grits and crème brûlée. Everything was really good!

We eat here regularly on business, and it is always great. Again, we were here with a big group on a limited menu… but it was fantastic. We had shrimp and grits, shecrab soup, filet mignon and some type of chocolate mousse. It was all wonderful, and the servers were fantastic. I’ve been here several times, and always had a great meal. I love the atmosphere in the upstairs room too. Yes, I am a fan!

Anson quickly became one of our top Charleston restaurants. We took both sets of our parents on back to back weekends. it was that good. This restaurant absolutely blew my socks off. It is located just off Market Street in the heart of downtown Charleston. There is a little parking lot next door so it was extremely convenient. We started out with the Red Wine Poached Pear Salad(A+), the Pork Belly App(A+), Fried Oysters(A), and Calamari(B). We followed it with She Crab Soup(A), Sweet Potato Bisque(A), and Blue Cheese Wedge(A). Seeing a trend here? Yep. This was all high grade stuff. Main course was the Duck(B), Scallops(A), Flounder(A+). To finish, we had one of the best Pecan Pies(yep A) that I’ve ever had. The Chocolate Tart and Almond Bowl were also excellent. This was so great that we came back five days later with my brides parents. We came a bit late though so they were out of the Pork Belly. I wept inside. I did get to sample the amazing Country Pâté. It was even better than the Pâté I had at FIG two days prior. I should have ordered the Whole Flounder but for some reason went with the Surf and Turf. That would not normally be my order but after seeing everything else ordered I wanted to try something new. I would say that would be the only thing not to get. Just didn’t work. Dessert again. Yep, you guessed it, Pecan Pie. Couldn’t try something new this time, it was that good. Can’t wait to get back to Anson. It’ll be a ‘go-to’ from now on!

One of my fav restaurants in Charleston used to be Garibaldi’s — I loved their Crispy Flounder. So, when I ate at Anson last week and discovered they have the Crispy Flounder, I was thrilled! We started out with the fried okra(yummy with that spicy sauce) and the fried green tomatoes. I also enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad. Our service was excellent, the server did a great job keeping everyone’s drinks filled and made sure we had everything we needed. I think Anson has earned a spot on my favorites list in Charleston!

I arrived at Anson Restaurant around 9:30 pm and was still on west coast time. I wasn’t aware that this place was the sister of the Old Pink House in Savannah so I suspected I was in for a good meal. Started off with she crab soup and it was incredible. The bread they served was perfect when dipped into the soup. For my main entrée I ordered the deep fried Flounder topped with a apricot sauce. OMG the entrée reminded me of a Thai entrée and just cooked perfectly. It was good sized with plenty of moist tasting fish. I also tried the scallop with okra and fava beans and it was another solid tasting masterpiece. We finished with dessert — a banana cream pie that was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. The décor of Anson Restaurant is romantic place for dinner and has two floors. Service here was impeccable and spot on. I’d definitely recommend Anson Restaurant for a unique but memorable dinning experience.
