Great food and awesome service both times we have been there. We enjoy it and will be back again :)

This is a fun place to visit. Bring the kids. It’s a fresh fish market right on the Mariana. No, it’s a not a restaurant. It’s a place where you buy your own fish and go home and grill/cook it yourself. Careful and don’t fall off the dock, those honking sea lions might just laugh at you. Neat and clean store. The owners are super friendly. Ocean souvenirs, spices, hot sauces, cans of smoked and peppered tuna stock the shelves. There’s even a live crab tank in the store where you can pick out your own little crab and eat it later. Awwww… poor crabs. This place has freezers full of freshly caught fish. When tuna season comes, the fishermen sell their fish off their boats and you can come here to get your tuna filleted for ya if you don’t know what your doing.

Awesome, wouldn’t have found this without Unilocal. Highly recommend supporting this lovely local couple who provide super fresh seafood!!! They were so sweet and cute! We picked up a pound and a half of fresh shucked crab meat and it was perfect! Recommend you call in your order in advance, it helps!

What a fun surprise! On our way to Shore Acres State Park, we decided to drive down into the marina to check things out. My husband spied this little place so I looked it up on Unilocal and reviews were good, so we went down and odered a couple of steamed crabs to eat at a picnic table nearby. Ok, it was only 10:30 am, but crab always sounds good and Jodie(who owns the business, along with husband Mike and son Matt) was so friendly and fun. She had a trick or two to attract the sea lions playing close by, so we’re were entertained while waiting for our crabs. Then she showed us a couple tricks for eating the crab(can’t belive I had never learned these). Food offerings are limited as they don’t have much of a kitchen, but if you want fresh steamed crab at a good price, this is your place!

We stopped there while we were on an RV caravan exploring the western Oregon Coast. I got clam chowder and some fish and chips. The fish and chips were ok … probably a little but above average. The fries were excellent. The chowder was good, a little different than the others I have had on my way down the coast … they seem to use a lot of clam juice but it was full of clams and still better than anything I seem to get in Florida.

This place is wonderful! We went here a few days after we moved in a bought a whole salmon. They butchered it down for us and saved a bunch of goodies in a separate bag front he boneless/head and the fillets. The staff is super super friendly and very knowledgeable. We went back a week or so later for some fresh crab and were so pleased. The quality is out of this world(they don’t keep fresh seafood for more that 24 hours. After that it is broken down a frozen to preserve freshness). The fresh fish pickings are slim since they only buy what that can sell that day. By far the best salmon and crab I have ever had. I will for sure be returning for all future fish buys. Can’t wait for halibut! Excellent quality and helpful friendly staff!

Honestly the sweetest people who own this place. I’m new to town and decided to try this place out. The crab was delicious and they even let me try their new crab cakes! Everything was so great and they even recommended me things to do in the area. I will definitely be back and probably try my hand at CRABBING!

Great fresh seafood at a reasonable price. This is not your usual seafood restaurant, it is a small place on a floating dock with only two small tables but you can also eat outdoors on tables overlooking the bay. I know the seafood is fresh because this place has a constant flow of local customers getting take out. They ask for some items and are told none were caught fresh today and this is what we have. The food goes out the door as fast as they can cook it. My wife had fish and chips which she loved. I had fried clams and they were the best I have eaten in 55 years. The last time I had such good clams was in Cape Cod in the early 1960s. The french fries are real cut from fresh potatoes and not the frozen stuff. This place has charm, character, and feels like a real authentic seafood restaurant, which it is. Not a tourist trap like most costal seafood restaurants. If I lived in Coos Bay, I would eat there everyday too.

This is an interesting experience to try and rate. The restaurant is on a working pier and can only be seen when you get to the edge of the large dock. It consists of three floating barges anchored to the pier. The premise is different than many. My wife ordered 3 crabs which are taken from a live tank in the middle of the little shop and then cooked on the spot. We took the crabs to the last floating barge and ate outside on clean picnic tables. The crab was fresh, excellent and still hot out of the cooking pot. This makes for a different but good dining experience.

Where I’m from everybody likes to talk local, wild, sustainable and responsible. These are all buzzwords you pay extra for around here and it doesn’t even necessarily hold true. So imagine my surprise when you go someplace like Fishermen’s Wharf located in the small coastal communities of Coos Bay, Oregon. Here’s a place that has all the intangibles. They have fresh fish that won’t sit around longer than a couple of days. Hell, they’ll even hand you whole fish carcasses if you want ‘em. After that it’s vacuum-sealed and frozen. There’s also a commitment to the local fisheries; If little or no fish are coming in(such as during winter) then obviously less fish. You won’t see them bringing in fish from a farm or another area to plug the gaps. Of course winter welcomes the great Dungeness crab season, and they were big, feisty and delicious. Even here you have to shop around to find the liveliest crabs, but you can trust these ones will be good. Oregon has quite a variety of great tasting fish, and they’re more than willing to help tell you about it if you ask. Just go there with an open and inquiring mind and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

I must be the first to review because others don’t want you to discover just how awesome Fishermen’s Wharf is! You can rent a crab ring and catch your own. They’ll cook and clean them for you if you want to eat ‘em right there on the dock. If you weren’t as lucky with the crabbing for the day, pick from their tank full of lively crab! Water is pumped into the tank from outside to keep ‘em fresh. The Dungie we picked out was still fighting and pinching on its way to the crab cooker. Unlike the Fisherman’s Wharf here in San Francisco, they have tables in the back for you to enjoy your crab. They’re CLEAN too. If not, they’ll come out and wipe ‘em down for you! And there aren’t crazy gulls ready to snatch away your crab legs! Best of all, Matt, Mike, and Cathy Jo are extremely personable and full of information re: fishing/crabbing in the area. We couldn’t get enough in one day, so we revisited the next day to pick up some fish for the road! This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Oregon’s Bay Area. Imagine that — leaving one Bay Area for another! These guys are located at the D-Dock in Charleston and are a must-visit if you’re in the area. Their mission statement: Our business depends on fishermen, we will not under pay them or overcharge you for their product. PS — You can order from them online too!
