Visited on a Thursday afternoon. The barista greeted me immediately. She was very friendly and also apologetic that their espresso machine was broken at the time. She helped me pick out a pour over coffee. I had a Guatemalan coffee called Cup of Excellence. It was indeed a cup of excellence. I had a bit of their housemade almond milk in it as well. They had many alternative sodas, beer, and wine as well as some pastries. There was a small menu posted with items such as grilled cheese and parfaits. Everything looked delicious. There were only a few other people in the large space, which was nice and relaxing. There’s several comfy sofas and a small stage for events. There were local artisan goods such as jewelry for sale as well. This is definitely a great café and art space with good vibes. I will return and hopefully get some espresso!

Bön is more of an art collective than a coffee shop, yet it has good enough coffee and atmosphere to equal one of the best coffee places in Charlottesville. They serve locally sourced Shark Mountain Coffee, use compostable to-go cups/lids, and make their own almond milk in house(for non-dairy latte lovers). The place is quiet and comfortable, perfect for an afternoon of reading or study. Like most other cafés in Cville, Bön closes too early for my liking, but they frequently offer concerts in the evenings and will stay open until 10 or 11.

Good place to grab a cup of joe and study for awhile. When Downtown Mall coffee shops are overflowing, I can always find a table here. They also serve Bodo’s Bagels.
