Service was fast and friendly, however the food sucks. I love buffalo wings, but this place is extremely disappointing. You can taste the freezer burn on the meat. You’ll get better quality chicken a McDonald’s and a bottle of Frank’s at the dollar store is only 2.50. 30 bucks for frozen dog shit.

People go to the Anchor Bar for one thing. Wings. They were the original, and after all these years, they are still at the top of the game. I’ve been to the original, but this review is for the Buffalo Airport location. We were waiting for a flight back to Long Island, the Giants were playing the Bills, the place was packed, so it felt right. In my younger days, I was able to tolerate the suicide sauce without thinking twice. Nowadays, not so much, so I opted for the hot. Should have gone for the suicide. Just not hot enough, but they were Anchor wings. Yes! Beer, wings and a Giant win!

Pleasantly surprised. The bar tender, Bob, was excellent. Good recommendations on drink and food specials, friendly fast service and had no problems accommodating an expense report related bill request. Fast turn around on everything from food, drinks and charging cards which is a big plus for an airport restaurant. Got the steak hoggie(per Bob’s recommendation) and was very satisfied. Will be back again when travelling through BUF.

Oh boy, I am a strong believer that airport food is almost never a good idea and set expectations very low if I find myself having to make a choice. Anchor bar claims to have invented buffalo wings but I wanted to try this famous beef on weck that’d I’d been hearing about(the equivalent of the Philly Cheese Steak for Philadelphia). I ordered it to go to eat in the food court with my party, the turn around time for to go was fast, but the food was honestly terrible! There’s really no other way to spin it, it was bad. Beef on weck is served with potato salad on a kiaser bun topped with caraway and large sea salt chunks(I had to scrape the sea salt off, it made the meal way to salty!) beef and a prepared horseradish sauce are served on the bun(which quickly became soggy). The meal was $ 11+change and I wished I hadn’t spent any. Total lack of flavor to the entire thing, screaming cheap quality; eek! It’s worse then what you’d expect at an airport, and for that a review is necessary. Don’t waste money or calories on disappointing food. You’ve been warned.

I heard Anchor Bar was one of the original Buffalo Wings restaurants, and had really high expectations. Safe to say I was really disappointed when the wings came. As they were just regular deep fried chicken wings I could get anywhere else. Next time I’m craving wings, I’ll just hit up Buffalo Wild Wings.

Amazing, the wings here are just as good as the original location in downtown Buffalo, and we were in the airport! That alone deserves an extra star. This really is the best option for food in the small Buffalo airport. The seating is comfortable, the service expedient and friendly, and the wings were Anchor Bar good. The booth was comfy and we had an outlet nearby that we could have utilized for powering up the electronics before our trip. They do have a full bar, and had several local brews on tap.

Where it all began, although visited the airport location which I understand may not be as «good», still, felt good to try em. Sauce was flavorful, not as crisp as I think the downtown location is, but still good.

We had a great lunch here today! Nice space and good server. There are some local beer selections that were not on the menu, and I enjoyed one of those after asking the server for a local option. The wings were great-large, flavorful(we got HOT!). I do wish they were a bit crispier but was happy that they were not drenched in sauce. Nice lunch!

Needed some dinner due to the delayed flight and settled on wings. This location is a franchise of the original wing location(which I have not been to) and the three of us split 20 wings. We ordered spicy BBQ, medium, hot and suicidal. I enjoyed all but the BBQ. We talked with the waiter and he gave us a bit of history on how the wings were invented and how the sauces were the original ones that were invented. My only complaint is the restaurant was not prepared to have to seat more than two people. We waited a good bit while tables of 2 and 1 passed us up because many of the tables that could fit 3 were filled with people who made the airport it’s office.

Anchor Bar is definitely the best quality food at the Buffalo Airport. The service is always efficient and polite. As a warning, this location does not have much in common with the original famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo. This location’s menu and recipes are different and more fitting for an airport crowd(people who need to sit down and eat their food in less than 30 minutes). From what I understand, the only requirement for them to keep their«Anchor Bar» name is that they use the Anchor Bar’s wing sauce. If you are looking for an authentic Buffalo Wing experience, I would recommend going to the downtown location. That being said, the airport Anchor Bar serves satisfying and quick meals for its patrons. Their best meal, especially for people from out of town looking to try a Buffalo meal, is the«Buffalo’s Best Combo.» This meal comes with one Beef on Weck sandwich and five chicken wings, in a sauce of your choice. I prefer the medium hot sauce or the spicy BBQ. The beer/cocktails menu is also pretty good. This location has a decent breakfast menu. Some dishes incorporate the chicken wings. I like the sausage and scrambled eggs breakfast wrap(even though they don’t have sour cream). It’s a quick and convenient place to stop during your wait at the airport.

I’ve officially eaten at all 3 anchor bar locations. The Transit location was and will always be one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. This ranks #2 Here’s my review in a nutshell: — Ambiance is still nothing like the Original Anchor Bar… but you’ll get the same wings — Lots of seating but may be packed if it’s the weekend or weekday evening. Walking room will be very congested because of luggage. — Only like 2 items on the menu that aren’t fried. — Outlets can only be found at the outside stools. — Service and speed wasn’t an issue when I went… then again, it was dead. — Airport food prices are always higher than average. I probably won’t go here again.

Impressive sized wings that, unlike most places, take multiple big bites to take down. I got medium and didn’t think it was quite spicy enough so would try hot next, but the sauce was still tasty and I subbed in Ranch instead of Bleu cheese. Service at this location is very efficient given people’s airport schedule. Makes me wonder why other restaurants can’t operate like this…

Great wings, great beef on weck! Very tasty combo. Their craft Amber beer was rather expensive and not worth the price, unless it’s your favorite… Quick service with a smile. Good place for lunch in the airport.

Your best bet for a meal at the Buffalo Niagara Airport. I totally fell into this place by mistake. I found myself at the airport at 8am hung over from the night before, exhausted from a two week long trip across the continental United States and most of all hungry. Enter: Anchor Bar. So… this is basically the airport version of the original and they even offer Wings at all hours of the day along with a full bar and menu. Is it the same quality as the original? Not by a long shot. In fact, laughably below Anchor Bar’s par. But they do offer a Hot Wing Omelet and I could not leave Buffalo, NY without being able to say I had tried it. The Omelet is pretty interesting although I could see some sneering at the notion. Chicken is first fried, then chopped and then tossed in their amazing Buffalo Sauce. The Chicken mixture is then folded into Eggs to create an Omelet and garnished with a Hot Wing and slathered with more of said sauce. The Omelet is plated with home potatoes and a large biscuit. Easy enough. The Omelet actually was tastier than it had any right to be and I ate at least half of it even though I had an intense headache. The sauce was nice and spicy and the two generations of Chicken(both meat and egg, that is) really worked together. The Hot Wing was a shadow of anything that claims the Anchor Bar title, but was used more as a novelty than an actual part of the meal. The potatoes were hopelessly boring and their only salvation was the addition of Buffalo Sauce. The Biscuit was dry to the point of being inedible. Criticisms aside, this was a decent hangover cure along with a Bloody Mary and I would be perfectly content to try another round next time I find myself in Western New York state.

Since I had a bit of time to kill before boarding my flight and realized that I didn’t have any buffalo wings on my trip to buffalo, I decided to stop by and see what it’s all about. I didn’t want to go overboard so I decided to get the soup and wings combo. The choices for soup were spicy chicken or minestrone. I picked the minestrone and mild wings. I do like the wings and the heat was just enough for me. While the wings were fried very well, I just felt it wasn’t meaty enough. I overheard from the waiter(Dan) that they have a dedicated fryer to fry wings and nothing else. I guess they do take it pretty seriously. Anchor Bar is also conveniently located near JetBlue gates making it easy to catch your flight. If you can’t catch their main restaurant out in town, then try to check in a little earlier and make your way to Anchor Bar

After a long wait to get across the border(there was a Buffalo Bill’s game!), I made it to the airport and settled in at the Anchor Bar for one last foodie find. Anchor Bar(not this location) is where Buffalo wings were said to have been invented! The story goes that Teressa Bellissimo, who owned the bar along with her husband Frank, created them when trying to put together a late night snack for her college-aged son and his friends. The city of Buffalo officially declared July 29, 1977, to be Chicken Wing Day. These were not even the slightest bit hot, but they were very meaty and nice and crispy. I had already gotten my «buffalo wings in Buffalo fix» earlier in the weekend at Bar Bill in Amherst, but decided I needed to at least give Anchor Bar a try. I do not like super hot wings, but I like a little spice, so I ordered hot wings. They weren’t hot! To many this might be disappointing and yes, I did want a little more kick, but I had a sense of pride chomping down a stack of hot wings without breaking a sweat. I even ordered another round and took them home to my husband. They flew well.(hahaha I know corny). While the Anchor Bar wings weren’t hot, one thing I loved about them were just how meaty they were. Loved that. I also liked the bbq sauce more, which was spicier than just plain hot. Rumor(or review) has it these wings are nothing like the original location because the bar licenses the name and just uses the sauce but eating Anchor Bar wings can now be checked off my foodie bucket list and if you find yourself in the Buffalo Airport with time to kill and belly to fill, this is worth a stop. They also serve Beef on Weck, which I didn’t get from here, but it is another food native to Buffalo and worth a try if you don’t have plans to eat it elsewhere. MMMmmeaty! The wings were pricey(10 for $ 15), not sure how it compares to outside the airport, but it is an airport after all. My server in the beginning was very nice, very speedy then it kind of fell off a little. But I bet if you told them you were in a hurry they would accommodate. I showed up with plenty of time so I wasn’t feeling too rushed.

As far as airport dining goes, this is my favorite spot out of the 30+ airports I’ve grabbed a bite in. I love that if I didn’t have a chance while visiting Buffalo, I can grab a chicken finger sub after I get through security. The service here is always friendly and given they’re in an airport, the servers and bartenders always work with a sense of urgency. You’d think that would be an airport employee norm, but it generally isn’t, so its definitely appreciated! Last year they even let me order my sub to go when they had just opened for breakfast. I really appreciated the accommodation they exhibited for me and was excited I managed to bring home only a 2hr old chicken finger sub!

Yeah yeah it’s overpriced. But off the top of your head, what other airports can you think of that sells good buffalo wings? I was hungry and went a little overboard. Got a plate of wings and the Italian sandwich. Oh and a giant beer. The Italian sandwich should be qualified with quotations…“Italian sandwich”. It was actually good in a greasy bar food kind of way(I mean, major points for the fake butter crust!) but I don’t an actual Italian(in Italy) would eat this. Summary: get the wings and some beer. Heck, you only life once– get the«Italian» beef sandwich. And do this all before you get on the plane =) I mean, who needs dramamine ;)
